The Ideal J-Pop Artist Face-off 2013: Round 1; Pairings #7 and #8

It's been nearly a year since I started doing the J-Pop Artist of the Week threads and for fun, they will now face off against each other to determine which is the best out of all of them.

This will also help me determine which type artists to go forward with in the future, but mostly it's just for fun.

 

All you have to do is vote for your favorites!

 

It's okay if you don't know them. You can still participate because you're free to decide which is the best however you like. Be biased or be unbiased. Base your vote on music, live performance ability, or don't do either and just base it off of looks. it's up to you!

 

The pairings for this first round will be switched out every two days for brand new ones, so make sure to vote and then check back! There are 64 artists and 32 pairs total. All pairings are completely random.

Wasn't expecting to have such a difficult decision ahead of me! Iconiq and Miliyah Kato are such excellent soloist and have spent quite a bit of time with their music over the last few years. They're both incredibly close but Iconiq hasn't had as prominent of a career and she hasn't been releasing any material as of late. She is essentially a found memory but Miliyah Kato continues to release excellent material and reinvents herself and delivers creative and fun material. It's a difficult choice but I'm going to go with Kato. Choosing between Tokyo Jihen and Sakanaction is even more difficult but Tokyo Jihen are just a must stronger act and have more meaning to me as a listener. Tokyo Jihen are prominently one of the reasons that I've been hooked and have such high respect for Japanese music. They're essentially my favorite rock act in history and I won't be able to choose any other acts outside of them regardless of how good and excellent Sakanaction are. Tokyo Jihen is my answer!
