Chen Xiang (陈翔) - 问世间 | Enlighten me, people of this world

NB: The credit for the lyrics was given to Yuan Haowen (1190-1257) so it's important to know that he was a poet of the Jurchen Jin Dynasty and that these lyrics were adapted from one of his representative poems 《摸鱼儿》 (Touch the fish). The portion of his poem that was taken for this song is as follows: 问世间,情为何物,直教生死相许? / 天å—地北åŒé£žå®¢ï¼Œè€ç¿…几回寒暑。 / 欢ä¹è¶£ï¼Œç¦»åˆ«è‹¦ï¼Œå°±ä¸æ›´æœ‰ç—´å„¿å¥³ã€‚ / å›åº”有语: 渺万里层云,åƒå±±æš®é›ªï¼Œåªå½±å‘è°åŽ»ï¼Ÿ

Lyrics: 元好问 (Yuan Haowen)
Composition: è°æ—‹ (Tan Xuan)
Arrangement: 陈磊 (Chen Lei)

问世间情是何物
直教生死相许
天å—地北åŒé£žå®¢

Enlighten me, people of this world, what is love?
[such that it] goes so far as to make [lovers] follow after each other in life and in death.
The swan geese that have flown over vast distances together as a pair
[Have flapped their] old wings [through] many cycles of the seasons.

欢ä¹è¶£ 离别苦
就中更有痴儿女

Happy [relationships] bring joy, [but] separation brings pain.
All the more so [when] there are deeply infatuated ones in [this flock].
Tell me, [above] the layers of clouds spread over thousands of miles,
[between] the thousands of peaks covered in snow, [as] the sun sets, for whom should the lone [goose that has lost its mate] fly?
[between] the thousands of peaks covered in snow, [as] the sun sets, for whom should the lone [goose that has lost its mate] fly?
