Jokes aside, I've been diagnosed with diabetes this week. I'm only 19 years old   I don't know how I should feel. I'm sad (mostly about my precious chocolate), but at the same time I am glad I discovered it early so I can start dieting, exercising, and taking pills for it from now to prevent any future complications.

Does anyone else here have it? I need help. I've been reading up a storm about it, but I would appreciate any know-hows, tips, or simple virtual pats on the shoulder.

I am happy that you are not letting the diagnosis get you down completely.

My grandmother also has diabetes and she just makes sure she watches what she eats, she buys mostly everthing sugar free and fat free honestly everything she eats is tasteless though but you can like buy Diabetic cookbooks so what you eat isn't tasteless

Whole grain, fish, fat free yogurt and milk is good too

Watch what you eat and take your medicine and you should be gucci.

Also don't stress yourself out, stress is always bad for the health

You should look into the low carb high fat diet. It's what they used for diabetics before insulin therapy was invented.

This is a diabetic cookbook from 1917. Of course things have changed a little (the biggest change being that it's now suspected that "no carb" sweeteners still cause an insulin reaction), but you get the general gist of it; starches and sugars bad, fats and proteins good, everything else in moderation.

Good luck and be healthy

I'm really sorry. A lot of the times genetics has a lot to do with it. Eat healthy (minimum sugar) and maintain a good diet/ excercise and you'll be fine. Those are the two most important things.

Thanks. <3 I'll make that my mission.

I wish your granny well. Thanks dear.  :)

Well I don't have it but I think my cousin does. Luckily I only eat sweets/junk food every now and then. Once every two months?

Try to eat more veggies? (Most obv answer)

Good Luck!

:rlytearpls:  You're so lucky. I can't live without sweets and junk food. Lets switch. ~

Amazeballs. Thank you so much for the advice and link. I wish you good luck and health too.  :chu:  :chu:

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 16, at first it's hard to adjust to but if you make a habit of taking really good care of it, you'll be fine! Dw you can still eat anything you want, just be smart with insulin.

     Hope you're doing well. Thanks!

Check your insulin levels all the time plz my friend wouldn't check and inject himself with insulin based on how he felt/cuz he forgot his puncture kit at home and got us into huge panic trips due to hypo crises

Oh my  :._.:  I hope he/she is okay now. I will keep that in mind, thank you.

Oh god that's crazy ;A;

I know a guy who does NOT take care of his levels and goes driving on the highways while he has low blood sugar levels (he almost crashed on the highway, yikes)
