The Oscar buzz has already begun. Yes, it might be a long shot, but at leastthe Huffington Post thinks there’s room for Miyavi in the best-supporting-actor category. What’s better: performing in front of screaming fans, or hearing your name read out in the Kodak theater? Miyavi might become one of few people on Earth able to answer that question.

It has a 56% rating on RT, so I'm not really sure that he'd even score a nomination

That being said, at least he's making waves.

I don't think he'll be nominated (Asians never do in acting roles, except Rinko Kikuchi like eight years ago), but I think he'll be like #8 or #10 on people's oscar shortlists, so it's good exposure. Plus, he just signed to WME, which is one of the biggest talent agencies in the U.S. Guess he's considering an acting career.

Asians get nominated a lot, when they're in roles that fit Oscar-baiting. Ninomiya was, and so were several others of note.

Nope, he wasn't. And Asians don't get nominated pretty much at all in the acting arena.

Hailee Steinfeld was the most recent to get a best supporting actress nom, but she's like 1/4 Filipino.

Oh lols I thought he was nominated for w/e reason. But yeah, it's really a casting issue – Asians don't get casted in most Oscar-bait roles.
