Wassup apologized for unintentionally offending Muslim fans with the use of Islamic symbols in the background during their "Showtime" stage on MBC Music's 'Show Champion', explaining that they have nothing to do with deciding what goes on screen during their performances.

Wassup took to their Facebook on the 29th to apologize.

"First of all, We are very sorry for this incident.
Wassup only prepare for music and performances.
Stage background screen and other stage effects are prepared by broadcasting.
We are very sorry for not checking theses kind of details in before hand.
We did not try to offend any of you arab fans.
We are very sorry again and these kind of incident will not happen again."

So.. Muslims of OH, are you offended by this? They're not even at fault imo, they don't decide the set pieces, the show does.

Wow, all of them are so quick to apologize when it comes to religious symbol but with blackface, n-word, flags etc few of them apologize :/

Ps: I'm muslim so dont get this wrong you guys, i just feel sorry for black kpopfans that have to put up with this without ever receiving an apology

The broadcaster used a mosque interior as a background. I think they were going for that Arabic vibe because the song has that arabic instrument feel but they chose a background with a holy writing on it and that does not sit well with the girls dancing in front of it.

The youtube comments are the worst tho, everybody attacking Wa$$up and reacting without thinking for a sec.

First off, to some of you who are still complaining, please stop, OK?  The girls and their agency had to apologize for the symbols used in their "Show Champion" performance that offended the Muslim community pretty much.  And if you want someone to blame, blame the show's staff and producer, OK?  And also, i'm pretty sure that just like rapper Loco who also got into hot water for an Azan sample in his latest tune, "Act Serious", Wa$$up will be extra careful with their performances from here on out as they continue to promote their latest title track

If the reason why they are apologizing is this :

It has nothing to do with religion it's just a typical Berber-moorish tile work. Of course it can be found in mosque but it can also be found in a variety of other places such as old houses, old city walls, old markets... my grand-parents house is full of them and it's less than a century old.

They apologized without even checking if it actually meant something...
