I was wondering why this didn't pop up in my feed: because I don't subscribe to Shinichi Osawa's channel. It's nice. I like it. But I will say that it doesn't really give me MINMI. This sounds like a song he could've made for anyone. I feel that MINMI has lost a good part of what made her special, her reggae sound. The singles for this album have been really questionable.

Haven't cared much for the material that Minmi has released since Natural because Mother and her subsequent singles haven't caught my attention. Minmi has been removing and furthering herself from reggae with these last few singles, which is a bit disappointing because it's a large part of her identity and music. It appears as though Minmi is attempting to revamp her sound and image but it's a bit difficult for her to accomplish because of her heavy ties with reggae and it being a sound that she was synonymous with. Lavender is wonderful! It's such an aural and atmospheric single that showcases a different side to Minmi and it's a direction that I wouldn't have expected her to go in. Shouldn't be surprised that Lavender is such a great record because Shinichi Osawa handled production and he is incapable of doing any wrong in my book. It's such a sensual and atmospheric single, which couldn't be further from her sound but it's nice to see her having such a strong record in her recent repertoire. Would've preferred this record to have gone to Meg because it doesn't sound like Minmi but it's still excellent and may help her re brand herself. Heard a few previews off of I Love and it has quite a few solid sounding records but it doesn't sound like Minmi.
