I've been feeling kinda meh today but this song is so comforting and also reminds me what lies ahead of me. I'll be moving to SK in September. Btw Kris, I'm finally gonna mail out the concert goods this week for the above stated reason. It will be my last ever package sent from Kumejima. Feel all warm and fuzzy about it! On the first day, it rained heavily, so we thought we’d return to our dorm and rest. After we rested, all four of us went to a PC room back then. We wanted to changed the band’s name and then we thought about what we should change it to. What came to my mind then was this movie ‘Nell’ that we just watched. It had a good feeling and we thought the content, as well as the tone of the movie, fit our music well. So that’s how we decided on our band’s name: at a PC room in Incheon. (x) Also, on YHY Sketchbook, Junghoon mentioned that they came up with the name Nell in August 1999. It's actually one of my favourite bands, of the ones I have been recommending the most... I came to them through Infinite, because I listened to Kim Sung-kyu covering Time Walking Through Memories and learnt that Kim Jong-wan had written Shine, a song I really loved. Spotify in Europe has Newton's Apple and halfway through listening to it I decided I was going to hunt down all of their discography. Favourite album is probably Slip Away: Hopeless Valentine is one of my favourite songs that I have ever heard, when I first listened to it I just could not have enough of it. I got stuck in a loop for two days, it was all I listened to. Grey Zone, however, I introduce to everyone as 'A love song that will break your heart in nineteen words". I think Nell have the kind of smart, laser-focused, understated yet deeply felt emotion that can disrupt you for days. Their songs are never banal and the way they cover truly uncommon, sometimes uncomfortable topics leaves me speechless (see Dear Genovese). I think they're amazing and I get so mad when my friends who are into indie rock and would therefore love them won't listen to them just because they're Korean (no, my dear friends, not all Korean music is K-pop. I'm so excited to know today that Nell will make a comeback with new album on August 11th. I've been saving my money for this moment. I just wanted to share how I make my bestfriend into avid Nell fan lol and then she spread it out the Nell love toward every close friends that she has. Hopefully this one will be easier to get than the others. :p I got Walk through me from a library sale in Brooklyn and Let it rain from a small bookshop in France... my Nell collection bears the mark of many hours spent searching on the internet. Being able to actually just order Newton's Apple off Amazon was SO refreshing. This new one I could even pre-order :D I just wanted to share how I make my bestfriend into avid Nell fan lol and then she spread it out the Nell love toward every close friends that she has. I showed her The Words You Shouldn't Believe Live version mv btw and it always work to everyone I know.
