Just got stabbed 579
GD&TOP made an entire album together + both are rappers so of course there would be some clashes in opinions, whereas GDYB made one song together in the studio whilst working on BBs album "because they were bored" - and Good boy was the result of that. There were no initial plans for it to even be released or promoted as a subunit single. I don't know where people are getting the idea that GD is being bossy or that YB is some sorta pushover (mind you, this is the man who took 4 years to release his solo album because he wouldn't compromise/clashed with YG over the direction of his album). GD himself does say there would probably have been clashes if GDYB had made an album together, but since its just one song they made with a light heart for fun its not that big of a deal. 5
Just got stabbed 579
yg wouldn't let him go in the direction he wanted, looks like Taeyang fought for this for those 4 years but he finally ended up giving up and compramising. YB wants to go in the frank ocean/weeknd direction. Whereas, YG wants rnb trey songz becaude they sell well to the public in his, YG's opinion. If anything that shows the companies attitude towards gd vs. Other artists and well as taeyang incomparision to gd and top. gd produces an album in a year without mentioned contradictions and top simply go to release doom dada because yg gave up and just let him so his thing. So taeyang is seen inferior to gds productions because of his aesthetic and well in comparision to top, top either has it his way or releases barely nothing. Another thing is GD says its easier to work with Taeyang so he made the comparision regardless of whether it was an album vs. Single meaning he still thought the comparision was valid. It doesn't take an idiot to realize Ringa Linga and Good boy were more GD than Taeyang, yet with Vol.1 both GD and TOP shined. Hence people are making a valid assumption on the idea that Taeyang seems to take the back seat with GD as opposed to TOP. I read all his interviews and what you have said I already know. I know he eventually had to give in to YG's demands to release more public friendly music, because YG gave him an ultimatum, it was either "my way or the highway" - compromise with YG or don't release his album at all/get delayed until forever. He has said himself in countless interviews after the release of RISE that he is still unsatisfied with the finished album. The point I was making was to people in this thread who are making it out as if he is some kinda pushover when it comes to music. Yes he had to give in, but that doesn't mean he didn't fight hard for his music within these 4 years. I also read GD's interviews, and he too had to make his compromises with regards to his solo album, but guess what? GD is the golden boy and YG will let him release an album no matter what because he will sell regardless. YB unfortunately does not enjoy the same type of treatment from YG. TOP got to release Doom dada because its just a single and it wasn't going to be promoted, nor was it part of any album. You can bet that when TOP eventually releases a solo album YG will interfere in one way or another, but TOP too is a perfectionist and stubborn when it comes to his music so who knows how that will turn out, but you can bet it ain't gonna be a full album of Doom dada's (i.e. non public friendly music). GD was probably asked about the comparison of GDTOP vs GDYB and was obliged to answer the differences between working with TOP and YB. Of course he finds it easier to work with YB because 1) its his BFF for 13 years, thus unrivaled chemistry, 2) A spontaneous release "made out of boredom" with no burden or expectations to do well, 3) Other reasons I explained in my previous post. Ringa Linga is a song YB released because he liked it and wanted to release it, and he is very much aware of the fans complaints that it was "too GD like" but he gives no fucks. Like I said, Good boy is just one single, and I think its only fair to compare to GDTOP when GDYB release an album together. You can't say YB takes a backseat with GD based on just one single, working together on an album is an entire different story and I'm sure they will have their squabbles and disagreements along the process should that album ever come about.
