Article: [K-Pop Producers] Rhymer "Idols who rely on their composers will disappear soon"

Source: OSEN via Naver

Q. "It seems to be the trend lately for idol groups with the talent to produce themselves being at the top, like B2ST or Block B."

Rhymer. "I predict that idol groups who aren't able to produce for themselves will all be dead by next year. There will be less and less room for idol groups who only receive tracks from their composers and reiterate it like machines. Before, idols were praised for releasing self-compositions, but now, idol groups that can produce for themselves with bigger and better ideas will increase."

Q. "There definitely has been too many idol groups who have everything produced for them."

Rhymer. "There are kids who literally say, 'I don't know anything. Please help me.' When I ask them their opinion on something, they reply back, 'I don't know. Decide for me.' I find that there's a problem with that."

1. [+1,167, -167] He's right... these idols, all they do is receive tracks from famous composers and just dance a bit on stage before heading back in... How does that make them singers?? They're just dancers at that point. I still can't believe Lee Soo Man asked people to take lip syncing as a song genre ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

2. [+704, -255] But isn't the point of idols to just sing and dance to whatever songs they're given? Now they're expecting idols to compose for themselves? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Then I'm sure they would've become composers, not idols ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

3. [+163, -14] How about you manage your own artists. One's writing lyrics like 'faggot bitch' and another one's parodying the ISIS tragedy on SNS ã…¡ã…¡

4. [+143, -24] Then should actors know how to write movie scripts? ã…‹ã…‹ And it's not only idols who receive songs from composers, other artists do too. Sure idols lack singing talent but each group has at least one talented member.

5. [+78, -1] A bit hypocritical of him as a hip hop company to put down idols when so many hip hop and idol collaborations are becoming hits nowadays ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+70, -1] He's right but hip hop has no difference from idols in that they all rely on stimulative lyrics and exemption from the army...

7. [+28, -0] Why do people expect singers to be able to compose and write lyrics? The very definition of someone is someone who just sings. Someone who sings, composes, and writes lyrics is called a singer-songwriter. Singers are supposed to receive tracks from composers and sing it in their own emotional way. But of course, there is a problem like he mentioned with idols saying they don't know anything about anything.

8. [+25, -0] People have been talking about idols who only rely on looks disappearing since the days of FinKL and SES ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

If they can compose it's just a plus tbh...also instead of making idols seem pathetic as he's trying to do above like the dickwad he is..why not actually try to help the ones who can't compose learn to compose?...You're their senior... is it too much to take one or two of them aside and say "Here let me help you with the beginnings of how to compose." Stop being an ass and tryna put down idols who can't compose... everyone can't be talented in all fields -rolls eyes-

No offense, but I have yet to be any more impressed with idol/k-artist compositions than regular composers. I write too, but I really don't think that what they produce is anything special. Writing is easy compared to song and dance. At least for me. I've worked with talented, respected, and even award-winning composers, writers and choreographers and I can't imagine them saying such things. Then again, they are true artists.

There is also the fact that most of these idols do not write and produce the music all by themselves, but rely heavily on material from other composers, such as demos and rely on the concepts chosen by the company. And still manage to not stand out, even if it is a hit.

Nice PR move though. It's kind of a fail to those of us who know what's up.

The mass produced idols today have no appreciation for music, they get by just looking good & dancing. The point he should of made was that idols should stop wasting their money photoshopping themselves & use it to take some vocal lessons so they don't sound like

because this is how most idols sound when backtrack isn't blasting over their voice.

And what's going to happen to the producers/writers/composer, which job is it to write and compose songs for Idols? Also, like some people already said, not everyone who's able to write or compose their own songs will release good stuff.

But it would be nice if some more Idols, who are interested in making their own songs, would at least get the chance to prove their skills, maybe with help from experienced composers/writers.
