I found some interesting post about Jung Seung Hwan that I didn't know before. Gonna share it here. Credit is on the pictures:)

The purple on the graph is people in their 50s. But this show he's really popular with a wide range demographic group, and with both male and females. I think that is really something good cause then he's not tied down to only a group of fans, but appeal to a larger demography of fans and generation.

Ohh Jung Seung Hwan also visited Akmu at YG recently. There was new article on it. Trans also below, credit on pictures.

AKMU is a great example though of how YG does respect artistry over image. All YG did was AKMU was give them the resources they needed, choose a track he wanted to be a title and gave AKMU the other one, and marketed them.  I don't think he was bribing but reminding Jung that hey you, if you come I won't change you look at AKMU.

that chart is SUPER BIASED, it only shows ranking on the charts, not how much they've sold. january - march is slow season for music sales, so there's less competition. Jung Seunghwan's songs are currently selling around 300k, obviously there's been an increase in music price, but every song AKMU released on K-Pop Star sold way more than him.

Also AKMU's biggest hit was Crescendo, which the chart doesn't even show, after that, all their original auditions songs got a huge boost in sales, so hopefully the best of Jung Seunghwan has yet to come, or he may fizzle out like those guys on Superstar K6. Right now his popularity is above Lee Hi and the guys on Superstar K6 but below AKMU when they were on TV.

Awkward as hell, they might be the same age but mentality wise akdong are like little kids to him. I honestly think the only person he cares to meet in YG is Kang Seung Yoon, but then that'd be like Seungyoon cheating on SSK...

This is why I have been so disappointed in Kpop Star. Superstar K 6 found these almost professional singers and sharpened them. I'm sold on any song these two men release (especially if we see anymore collaborations). They sang Exhausted (with Jongshin in MV below), Don't Worry (attached), and many other songs, such as Because I Love You.

And unlike Super Star K where there were 2-3 amazing singers we have only 1 (so far) in Kpop Star.

And yes, I need another Jineon/Feel song!

Other beautiful example:

Because I Love You

And both have released OSTs. My heart.

Bonus: English - Lost Stars

I've read a whole bunch of your posts in this thread and I think you need to accept that people have different taste in music. For example, you like Ki Daon a lot and that's probably because she sounds a lot like Ayeon. Daon's not good enough to be Top 10 anyways so her being better than Ada, who obviously sucks and will be eliminated next episode, is not that big of a deal.

As for Superstar K, they obviously have way more polished singers because the contestants are usually indie artists the show call up to get them to audition. A show with SM/YG/JYP attached to it are going to turn men and old people away. But can you even tell SSK people's voices apart, Seo In Guk, Huk Gak, John Park, Roy Kim, Jang Beom June, Eddy Kim, Park Jaejung, Park Sihwan, Kwak Jineon, Kim Feel, etc. they all sound the same which is why you like them. None of them have an identity yet, those who had a hit with their first single/abum all dropped off after.

Chances are Jung Seunghwan probably failed SSK4/5 too since there are videos of him singing at 16, and as a last straw he tried out for KPS, and the judges appreciate his short ass, acne filled face and unstable singing at times. Now he's on a show with 15% viewership instead of 1.5% (jic yes I know it's cable that's my point).

Seriously? The debuted singers in SSK sound nothing alike each other. And they drop off the radar? Perhaps the idol radar but many of them hit #1 on the music charts so I question your argument. Once again - I would say SSK contestants have greater identity and music style unlike Kpop Star where most of the contestants are finding themselves and do not have any identity or style preference. I do have a love-hate relationship with Kpop Star but is really is the making-of-a-singer audition show while Superstar K are established constestants ... so how can you argue they haven't found their music style or niche?

We shall just agree to disagree as fighting/debating over a show really is wasteful.

So many surprises today

Who thought Seo YeAhn & Sparkling Girls would come first when they were against Grace & Seunghwan

I felt so bad for Ji Yumi :horror: The beginning of her performance was so good

Seunghwan said that he didn't get any sleep that night because he was nervous and kept thinking "what emotions would Lee Sora have relayed through singing the song?" Dude's vocal condition was not good and his mind was cluttered with too many thoughts which made it difficult for him to relay his emotions…Anyways, netizens are being positive saying that the outcome means that they at least get to see another Seunghwan performance and maybe another single.

Seo Yeh An's performance was just average. I think the judges had low exepecations and overpraised her because she didn't do as bad as they thought. She wouldn't even be the main vocal if she were put into a girl group.

I got the impression he wasn't feeling good. I guessed right

About Seo YeAn,

I had low expectations as well. She certainly surprised me..

But Grace's performance didn't amaze me either.

It was average considering her earlier performances which lead to Seo Yean coming first I think.

At this rate Katie & Yoonha will come 2nd too

That is because Kpop Star is a glutten for unnecessary drama. We alway see 2-3 contestants who should never have stepped on as Top10. It is foolish to expect anything less.

I really have a love-hate relationship. I really dislike all the BS but I still watch even if I only get to see 1-2 worthwhile contestants. But really - I know drama sells but I find it basic.

I was moved by Grace's sincerity in her singing this time although vocally she wasn't that good in this stage (in fact, quite bad at certain parts). and then I feel bad for Jimin as well. To be honest I think if she could memorise her lyrics, her stage could be equally as good as Son Ye Ahn's. Ye Ahn's stage was just average in my opinion. Singing is average, dancing is average, performance is average. But anyway, personally I would've picked Grace, but I understand why they chose Ye Ahn instead.

On the other hand, the 2nd battle was... errrm.. I don't know, disappointing? Sparkling Girls were predictable.. not the kind of stage that I'd really like to see over and over again.. and then I felt like Seunghwan was in a mental block situation again (like when he had to perform with the ajusshi in the grouping stage) which is a pity. On the other hand, I thought Sohyun did relatively well? *sighs* but overall I didn't find the 2nd battle interesting at all.

I neither like nor hate the first two contestants who managed to get into the top 10, which makes this episode quite boring for me. Can't wait for the next one!

So basically 6 will automatically pass in the first round, 3 will of those who placed 2nd will pass in the 2nd round. Everyone who places third will be eliminated and YG will have a chance to save one of his 2nd Place contestants that don't win a spot?

Some of these match ups are pretty obvious who they want to see eliminated... for real...

Most of them were predicted for Top10 however as the last episode shower they saved a girl who hopefully will get eliminated (finally!) in the Top10 live show. She should have been eliminatedin the casting section.

*Shrugs* I actually like YeAn and compared to the other 2 she went against, she sounded and performed the best. She'll at least add some entertainment to the Top 10 performances, and she can actually sing so that's a plus. She'l be eliminated early but she would make a great idol girl group member so I hope she gets picked up as a trainee somewhere.

I felt the first battle was average too, Yoomin had a breakdown, but the other 2 were more or less similar. I feel they chose Yean as number 1 because they trust Grace will make it in the second round (don't really know how to call it). Yean seems kinda weak under pressure, but that might just me. And Yean fits the Kpop Star mould better, she'll definitely be picked up by a company (if not YG/JYP themselves if she stays long enough in the live rounds) and debut in a girl group.

I definitely didn't agree with the second round. Sohyun was the best performance for me. They kept Sparkling Girls because they couldn't put Seunghwan in number one after that performance, and Sparkling Girls are more entertaining/exciting/bringing fans than a shy solo singer who seem almost sorry whenever she gets some spotlight. I feel sorry for Sohyun, she is good.

I think one of the judges once said if people are looking to win by talent than this isn't the show. They are really looking just for idols (with the exemption of the couple of contestants who just shine they can't be eliminated (like Jimin, AkMu, Seungh Hwan as none of them fit the idol mold)). In the end - this show' main purpose is to serve as a platform for the contestants to get recruited by both big and small companies - a visual portfolio in some ways.
