Preview of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's new song, "Into Darkness"

Into Darkness is great! It's arguably the strongest record that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has released alongside Saigo no Ice Cream, Chido li No, and Otona na Kodomo. It's a bit reminiscent and referential of the material that Nakata releases as a member of Capsule but this wouldn't be the first time that there music overlaps. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has covered both Jelly and Super Scooter Happy but Into Darkness is closer associated to Capsule's sound. It's a bit darker and more mature then her past material but still retains quite a bit of the more playful and quirky elements that are usually found in her music. Into Darkness is going to be used in a scene of the film in which Scotty is at a bar/club.

Nakata also commented on working alongside J.J Abrams! I’m honored to have been a part of the creation of the great world of “Star Trekâ€. Collaborating with the director J.J. Abrams was stimulating, and I was able to experience a journey into the unknown as a musician. The great power of this movie encourages those who give challenge to various fields of interest, as I myself once did. I hope that you will enjoy the movie, together with the song that was created with a focus on presence. You can find out more about the release or the track over at Tokyo Girls Update.

Into Darkness is excellent! It's much more closely associated to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu after listening to the remainder of the record but there are still touches of Capsule thrown in. Wasn't expecting to hear much from Kyary on Into Darkness because it's essentially a project between J.J Abrams and Nakata with her serving as a guest vocalist for the project. Kyary probably put forth her strongest vocal performance to date on Into Darkness! It's an interesting and unique record in her discography and could be a sound she'll tackle again in the future.
