New York Perfume concert

So I went last night. It was really cute. It was so much fun. I met yourfishnets, a nice girl. I know that Romeo and a few other people went but I didn't get a chance to connect with them.

I got to Hammerstein Ballroom around 5:30 and the line was long. It went down 34th Street and turned around the corner at 9th Avenue. yourfishnets was already in line. I met her and her friend. I then had to run off to do some things and came back around 45 minutes later with my friend. Good God, I hate how iffy the weather is now. It was 70 earlier this week and last night it was like 40. The cold is cute when you don't have to stand in line. I don't know how some people camped out Friday night until the show last night. In line, we met this woman from Maine who won meet and greet tickets. She said the girls were nice and she got to hug them, but the set up for the meet and greet was kinda odd. Something about going into a badly lit room and standing along a wall, akin to a police lineup. The doors were a bit late in opening but it went smoothly.

Went to coatcheck and then went to the floor. We were in the middle of the floor. I had a good view since a lot of people were shorter than me. The venue filled up pretty quickly. I went there to see Junsu and Kylie Minogue before and it was definitely fuller for Perfume. It was a good mix of people. Different ages, different races. It really shows how their music reaches across demographic lines. It wasn't a bunch of weeaboos like some would expect. I would say those people made up like 25% or so of the audience. There were a lot of Japanese people, a good number of them older, like 40+. There were also a good number of Koreans. There were a lot of gay guys. I could tell because a lot of them had the popular undercut/beard combination. There was a Kashiyuka drag queen who I saw again at a club later than night. The cosplayers were really cute. You could tell they put a lot of thought and effort into their costumes, especially the ones that had the light up costumes from the Spring Of Live video.

The show itself was really good. The girls were really good. They really are quite talented dancers. I danced a lot and sang along (unlike the Japanese people in the boxes who really responded to Party Maker). I was surprised by how well they customized the show to such a small venue compared to what they normally play. The technical aspects of the show were really great. It's different seeing it in person.

There was a lot of audience interaction, dancing (they slipped a TRF song in there) shouting, raising hands and whatnot. The girls' English was actually quite good. I was surprised. They did have a fan translate at times though. A~chan really likes New York bagels but thinks cupcakes are too sweet. They kinda make her head want to explode. Nocchi talked about how cold it was. They sang part of Let It Go.

There were some tears at the end. They did allude to coming back though. I honestly could see it happening given the reception they had.

Cool. It was a good read. I really considered going but decided not to because I was holding out for YG Family concert which never came lol. Now I'm wishing I had gone.

I think my ticket was $35? But then again if you have to factor in airfare/hotel it would cost more... I remember seeing people from Brazil and Chile there... I wonder how much they spent?

Ohh but I did hear part of it is being aired on WOWOW in December so it will probably be online around then.

I remember the line.

I got there at exactly &:00 and the line went around a whole block. Maybe more.

So worth it though

I want to reverse time  :rlytearpls:

What time?

This was pretty much how it was in London. Except I would say the weeb population of the audience was probably even less than that when I looked around the queue.

The setlist was the same too except we didn't get Fake It we got Handy Man. Like no. I wanted Fake It. But I got Chocolate Disco and Polyrhythm which are my 2 faves so I can't complain too much.

I went as well, I came on line around 2:30/3:00 and the line was already pretty long. When we got to cross the street I was around the further side of the Sam Ash entrance

It was so cold, i literally spent the whole time warming up my hands and hoping to warm up

But people on line were really nice, got a free photo card thing and the fan event paper that wasn't really successful lol

Once we got in I got some shirts from the merch line, I was pretty decently early so I didn't have to wait that much for merch

Anyway my friend and I made our way to the floor, I'm pretty short so I didn't see very well. Had to jump the entire time. Once the concert started I got separated from my friend as I got pushed to the closer middle of the stage

The concert was a lot of fun, I was literally jumping the whole time but still really enjoyed it. The girls are great dancers and I loved how engaging they were with their audience

They taught us some moves and their mcs were so cute. I loved the small Let it Go verse, it was really amusing

Everything was enjoyable and I'd definitely go again if given the chance. I loved how diverse the crowd was, I saw kids with parents, adults, students and of all different races. They had a great reception and they seemed to enjoy it so I think they'll definitely come back.

It was amazing  :rlytearpls: Almost lost my mind when they performed One Room Disco because that was my first Perfume song. <3 I saw my favorite girl group live...wow..

Almost thought I wasnt going to get to jam to FAKE IT live, but they surprised me.

LOL! My mom just asked me was I the only spot in the crowd and I told her it was actually pretty diverse.

I may as well share my experience too, I guess.

I got to the venue at about 7:00. The line went around a whole block, maybe more, but because I got there at the time they started admitting people, I didn't have to wait too long. The line actually moved pretty quickly once it started moving. But it was so crowded and cold, I didn't like it all that much.

Eventually, I got to the 2nd balcony. As I bought the unplanned seats, me and my friend had a decent view, but my mom and my friend's mom had awfully crappy seats.

It surprised me at how diverse the crowd was, like OP had said. I'm only 14, and considering the demographic I see online, I expected 20s-50s. But I see a ton of young children, some seniors, I may have even seen my Japanese teacher actually!

The concert was so much fun. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, and Perfume put on a great show and interacted with the fans. (I will still never forget Nocchi's "I am Olafu" line)

Ah, if only I could reverse time to go back to this  :rlytearpls:  :rlytearpls:
