Did anyone else have this confusion when they were younger?

For the past few days my family has been bringing up a stupid thought I had when I was like 12 and keep making jokes about it. I didn't think it was THAT strange, so I thought I better ask OH to find out.

When I was about 12 I was going through that weird stage of puberty where you were spotting, but not having a full on period. One day it seemed to be a little bit more intense than usual (still not an actual period), so I decided it was time to try a tampon. As I had the tampon in hand I was super confused because I couldn't find the hole. This made me convinced that I in fact didn't have a hole, so I went to my Mom and told her the unfortunate news of me having a period but not having a hole. She and my sister laughed at me really hard and jokingly told me that I should ask a doctor about why I don't have a hole. I thought they were being dead serious though, so I ended up asking the doctor at my next physical.

I remember she said, "Do you have any concerns or questions for me?"

I remember I tried to use my most mature grown up voice and said, "Yes I'm worried I don't have a hole in my vagina." The doctor gave this really creepy suggestion of my Mom showing me where the hole was on her (ew thank god my Mom thought that was nasty).

I eventually found it, but my family thought that it was not normal for me to think I didn't have one (I guess 12 is a little too old.)

Did any other girls on here have this struggle or was I just a totally dense little girl haha

Omg you had your period at 12!? I would have not been able to handle that. . .

I honestly wouldn't know because I was not checking for holes at that age  :imstupid:

I mean...kind of, but with other parts. I didn't think I had a clit because it didn't look like the description the books about puberty for young girls I read gave, or the diagrams included. They always say things like 'it's a small bump' and draw it like it looks like a tiny button, but it doesn't really  :wut:  also a lot of people end up thinking their labia are abnormally large because those diagrams always show them as very small...

My sister was like that too, and she was 13 or 14, so...

I got mine at 11 as well.

This confusion didn't exactly happen to me but I had trouble keeping a tampon inside, I didn't know how to put it in the right position and I didn't know how far I had to push it (sorry for the details haha). So I didn't wear a tampon until I was 15 or 16.
