I need to be honest. I'm not totally happy with Jiae's individual pic/group pic with Babysoul and Jin. They look so low quality and her individual pic is just all around bad. :( The lighting is dim and her face is kind of awkward. But, she really shined in the group pictures imo. Overall, the whole photoshoot was really cute and everyone looked so pretty.

 

 

 

 

Another thing: Judging from this photoshoot: do you think Jiae is really the visual? I'm starting to not think so, since Mijoo and Sujeong got the most pictures. Tbh if she isn't the visual, I'll be kind of sad since people consider her not only the worst vocalist but the worst dancer. :( I feel like she'll be labeled the useless member. Am I jumping to conclusions? Lol. I just don't want Jiae to suffer the same fate as all of my other biases.

Ah Jiae really stands out well in the group. I think better styling and facial expressions would improve the shoot for all the girls but it still turned out decent!

Jisoo. She doesn't deserve to have a dream ripped out from under her. she should've been in this photoshoot... I hope they bring her back as soon as possible, when its all done and over with.

Yeah I liked Jiae's hair the best too. I wish the stylists would make more of an effort with their hair though. I feel like they always have the same hairstyles. At least they changed it up for Jiae and Yein.

[TRANS] Ize Magazine Interview - Yoo Jiae

Q: You seem to like having your picture taken.

Jiae: It's my wish to shoot a pictorial. I also like photography; I used to collect things like DSLR camera, mirrored digital camera, and toy camera. But I still think it’s hard to look pretty in front of the camera. It’s especially hard on broadcasting stage.

 

Q: In which debut stage do you think you looked the prettiest?

Jiae: MBC Music Core debut stage! I lost a lot of weight at that time. Back then when other people debuted they lost a lot of weight because it was tough for them, but for me it was my choice. (smile) I really like eating snacks so I put snacks on my bag before I go out. But since I lost weight, I don’t put snacks in my bag anymore.

 

Q: What (snack) do you like?

Jiae: Ice cream. I like all types of ice cream. Out of Baskin Robbins’ 31 flavors, I like “Love Struck Strawberryâ€. Aside from that I like 뽕따, 쭈쭈바, ê±°ë¶ì´ all these flavors that you can get at the supermarket too. When there was a buy one get one free promotion at Home Plus, I came to buy and put all those ice cream into kimchi containers I have at home. I nibbled on them all day (smile)

 

Q: You’re the second born in a house full of girls now (smile) isn’t it hard to hold your appetite and take care of the younger ones?

Jiae: All Lovelyz members are the youngest in their family, but even the youngest are the oldest when they’re alone. The others play the role as the youngest very well. I live the dorm life for 4 years, I don’t know any other life than this. And there is a harder thing. Since the younger ones come to live outside of their home, they’re being more mature and they’re only taking care of me. They take care of me more (than I do them) (smile)

 

Q: What role do you have in the dorm?

Jiae: I’m the cleaner. If there is something messy I want to clean it. Since I’m sensitive at the dorm I say “tidy this up a bit†and while cleaning, the kids say that I nag and sound like the mom in the dorm. (smile)

 

Q: So did you say that you hope to be a good wife and a wise mother in the future? (smile)

Jiae: Yes. But normally a good wife and wise mother cook for her husband when he gets home right. But I think a good wife and wise mother is the one who works, even if she stays at home she still works hard and gives birth to a child. Although, I think it’s too hard and I don’t want to get married (smile) when I say I don’t want to get married to my dance teacher, she disapproved. She said “If you die who will bury and visit you every year then. You will grow to be a bent old woman alone.†And I’m currently thinking it over.

 

 Q:  Instead of being a good wife and wise mother, you chose to be a singer first. Do your parents support you?

 Jiae:  They really like it. But I haven’t called them on purpose. I think it has been 2 weeks. It’s because of time and if I call them I’m afraid I’ll get wavered. I’m in a new path. My mom asks me out of worry and curiosity, but I hate to talk about work when I talk to mom and dad.

 

 Q:  Are you that resolved?

 Jia e: I  think so. Since there is still a long time.

 

Q: What did you do during those 4 years (of training)?

Jiae: Wait.

 

Q: Every time the year changed, didn’t you wish to debut?

Jiae: I knew it wouldn’t be fast since Infinite senior debuted just as I entered the company. After one year passed since I entered the company, at that time during my senior year in high school I wavered a lot. I tried to enter university and debut, but I didn’t get in nor debuting. I thought “this can’t be it†and I only kept practicing in the company from 10 in the morning until 10 in the evening. Time flew by faster than I thought.

 

Q: Since you’re an adult, wishing to fit in and play with your friends, don’t you feel jealous of them?

Jiae: Even if I feel jealous of my friends, I will do it (play) later anyway. They will also have to work as hard as I did anyway (smile) I think I should work hard now and play next time.

 

Q: Do you have any ambition that you want to do well in?

Jiae: Rather than wanting to do well in something, I want all my friends and family to be proud of me. Simply saying “I’m Jiae’s dad†“I’m Jiae’s momâ€. Only to this extent. I want them to not feel shy (while saying it).

 

Q: Do you want to be a celebrity since you were young?

Jiae: The kindergarten that I went to had link to broadcasting companies, whether it’s MBC’s 뽀뽀뽀 or EBS’s 딩ë™ëŒ• 유치ì›, we went to these kind of programs a few times. My parents were busy at that time, so I followed my older sister who is 5 years older than me to broadcasting stations instead. My sister was a huge fan of H.O.T, at that time she asked me if I wanted to be a celebrity. She said she wanted to marry a celebrity so I had to be one (smile)

 

Q: You finally debuted; do you remember your first music program stage?

Jiae: I didn’t know I was going to debut this year. When I look at other celebrities it feels like I’m looking at other companies’ trainee. While looking at the stage, since we practice together every day, I look at it as a practice. Up until now, we still practice after we finish performing every day. Even Infinite senior had to practice every day after they finish performing for 3 years, so I think I have to work hard every day.

 

Q: It feels like you let out everything

Jiae: I already acted that way since the old days. While preparing for my debut, I kept crumbling. While I crumbled, I let it out one by one (smile) And since I have a lot to think about, I will live while stop thinking of circumstances. While practicing, I don’t have a lot to think or worry about.

 

Q: If you have time to spare now, what do you want to do?

Jiae: I want to attend school. I didn’t have any high school life; I didn’t have any friends or memories to identify about it. I want to visit my high school, but I don’t even have any teacher that I can visit (smile) well I have to get accepted into the university first (smile)

 

Q: Do you have a dream campus life?

Jiae: When I was in elementary school I had a promise with my dad. He bought a pink scooter (and I promised to) ride it to school. In return, he would choose which university I have to attend. The reason is, since it’s close to my house. Haha.

 

Q: However, you have to work during Christmas this year. Do you have any memorable Christmas that you remember?

Jiae: Since both of my parent work I couldn’t live with them, I was raised by my grandparents. I started to live with them when my grandfather passed away during my second year in middle school, even then they were busy so I didn’t have any chance to play with them. I didn’t spend much time with my parents, but I remember going to SG Wannabe concert with my mom.

 

Q: What about this year?

Jiae: Right after we finish (schedule), I think we will go straight to eat. As long as we have manager onnie and the members, in the company we can order chicken, pork wrap, stir-fried rice cake and pizza, spread them out and eat them (smile)

 

Q: Do you have any Christmas wish?

Jiae: For Lovelyz to do well. Get known not only by the name Lovelyz, but for each and every member to get known. I wish for us to grow. For us to get united even more. I want the public to see us as one. For us to be as one. Even if we have a good relationship now, it might not seem like it in other people’s eyes.

 

Q: What kind of team do you want Lovelyz to be?

Jiae: It might be obvious, but there are a lot of kids who are dreaming to be celebrities. Even if they say “I dream to be a doctorâ€, but at the corner of their heart they also want to become a celebrity (smile) If you ask those those kids what kind of singer do they want to be, they will answer “Girl’s Generation!â€. I want us to be that kind of singer (who they want to become).
