Losing interest in k-pop?

I fell in love with k-pop in 2008. I grew up to it and I would never change it for anything, it was great to be a part of such a small/big community. But I feel like that love is pretty much over. It was hard to admit, but yeah. K-pop music isn't as appealing to me as it was before. I'm not interested in dramas or variety shows either. The only reason I am still here is EXO and Tao. And yes, I used to be that person that playlists are 100% k-pop, "OMG I''M GONNA LIVE IN KOREAAAAEZ WHEN I GROW UP!!!!!!!". When I look back all I can do is cringe. Does anyone feel/felt the same way?

Im exactly the same way tbh, what did it for me was just the loss of interest in the music, its like the kpop industry just got lazy and generic , it doesnt have that ''umph '' that it had before

I feel you feel that way because you stan EXO

This may be a reason too~ but also tbh there isn't too many hits and ppl who were in the era 2008~2009~2010 aren't whinny as u think... it is just the things were more creative the dramas were a jam too ~ the over saturation is a factor turning ppl off..and also when u except too much and putting a peak u will get disspointed too~and ppl get bored anywhy...all of us will move on someday life circle~

I was definitely a lot more passionate about K-pop before, but I never had that moment where I was totally only into K-pop or was convinced I needed to be reborn as a Korean or something like that. I definitely have my ups and downs with the industry as a whole though so I completely relate to that.

Oh true, the over-saturation.. but I'm not a fan of many groups anyways. I can count the number of groups I'm a fan of on both my hands

Only time I really pay attention is when my faves put out a release

Lol me 2 I have only 2 kpop groups I care about like a fan way...but somehow u like to jam to the hits and such or even when watching my bias like let's say variety shows~old shows even if the idols are boring they have interesting competitions creative ideas and idols interact together and such~this is what op meant I think~..but u r right the over saturation exposure etc .is one of the mean reasons I think~

I really don't like a lot of kpop from 08-09 (at least not the popular stuff)  I think 2010 and on it's gotten better.

But my interest is part of a bigger interest in just music from anywhere. And I'm not a groupie. Everyone I like could leave and I'd still keep my ears open for the new crop

Not really, for me it's the same every year lol, there are songs I loved or liked, others that I couldn't stand instead....

Maybe it's because I'm only interested in the music (90%) and the industry's future developments (10%) ...

I guess K-Pop for me starts to get boring when my bias groups are on a hiatus like Bigbang  but overall, K-Pop this days has kinda been boring in terms of music, so many rookie groups are being pumped out of the company, release of songs and concepts that are pretty much the same. Out of the boring meter, I'll give it a 65%.

I started listening to kpop in like 2008 too but I never really went to the koreaboo level. My faves still make music I like and I dont pay much attention to new gen groups (there are a couple of exceptions but w/e).

I took a break in 2010, just dont force yourself to like kpop and find new stuff to listen to

I actually am and agree with you. It's not that I hate K-POP and I know it's going to sound cliche or something that has been said before but K-POP has really changed. I've been a fan since mid 2009, and when I went back to listen to old K-POP songs especially from artists such as Clazziquai, Bae Seul Gi, Taegoon and when I compare K-POP then to now it's just not the same. I think the simplicity of what was K-POP is gone. Ever since the "Hallyu Wave" caught attention of countries internationally and of course, the Western being the lead of the music industry - K-POP decided to change it's colors. I think in the beginning of 2011, that's when K-POP started incorporating more electronic, adapted more "hip-hop" and tried things like dubstep, things American music have, etc into their music. It's like they tried to appeal to international fans (which they did) but for older K-POP fans it's just not the same.

Then you have the top-tier acts such as TVXQ, Suju, SNSD, Big Bang, SHINee, 2PM, Wonder Girls, etc coming back several times a year to make a comeback and now they have one or no comebacks at all per year. Which sucks, because that was the K-POP older fans listened to. Now it's just all these new groups these company spews out and there's A LOT of nugu rookie groups. Sucks that rookie groups not from the big-3 even try to debut because they'll barely get any attention. Anyways that's just my take. K-POP to me is probably just a pastime and I'll probably move on from it when I'm older as will others.
