Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun has been revealed to be one of the leads of the first Korean Gone With the Wind musical.

The 23-year-old will play the role of Scarlett O’Hara. She gushed, “I really love musicals so I watched the original movie repeatedly; constantly preparing for (the audition) because I really wanted the role.â€

Seohyun shared, “Scarlett O’Hara is a fascinating character (…) and I feel that I will be able to grow from playing this character. I didn’t want to miss this golden opportunity to show a different side of me.â€

She confirmed that her fellow members know of the good news and expressed, “They congratulated me sincerely and said I really fit the role well. I was able to prepare for this positively and confidently because (they) said such words to me.â€

Other members of the cast include Bada, Kim Beom Rae, Jeong Yeong Ju, Park Jun Myeon, Michael Lee and Kim Bo Kyung.

Gone With the Wind will open at the Seoul Arts Center on January 9, 2015.

I don't doubt Seohyun's talent, to be honest, I don't know her because I have no interrest in her group but it has always seemed weird to me that dramas, musicals are full of idols trying to get exposure.

I'm pretty sure it lowers the level of these and musical actors or true actors who only focus on this part of the industry lose tons of opportunity.

Well this musical is not full of idols coz Seohyun is the only idol among other actors who got through the audition

however, only a month following this good news, the members suddenly changed positions and held a meeting, telling me to either quit this musical or leave Girls’ Generation without any justifiable reason

Well it's been a few years now that Seohyun says that her dream is to become a musical actress, that after SNSD she wants to become a musical actress and her ultimate goal is to become good enough to play in witched and Chicago. She said in The TAETISEO having watched the musical at least 20 times already and always going to broadway each time she's in NY.

She also just graduate from university in theater major (first soshi member to graduate even if she's the youngest) and they said at the press conf that she was selected after an impressive audition.

But only time will tell how she will be.
