Hong Kong singer GEM Tang is now influential enough to charge a more expensive concert ticket price than her seniors, Sammi Cheng and Miriam Yeung.

As reported on Mingpao News, the singer, who had a burst of popularity after participating in mainland China's "I am a Singer 2", reportedly increased the price of her concert tickets for the upcoming show in Hong Kong.

Unlike the normal HKD 1200 (USD 155) VIP package, which was considered the most costly package, the singer's show at the Hong Kong Coliseum in January has put a new package price of HKD 1880 (USD 242), even higher than those charged by international superstars.

The package includes limited edition GEM merchandise as well as a backstage meet-and-greet session. Other ticket prices are at HKD 989, HKD 698, and etc.

On the other hand, senior stars such as Sammi Cheng and Miriam Yeung's most high-priced packages are set at HKD 680 (USD 87.70).

The part 2 of "G.E.M.X.X.X. LIVE in Hong Kong" will be held from 14 to 17 January 2015.

Sucks for her Hong Kong fans. I know its how the world works but it would have been nice if she'd keep the ticket prices the same.

The Sammi and Miriam comparisons aren't very fair though because they dont have the same status as G.E.M right now. I'd be interested to see the comparisons with big international singers though.

Michael Buble - live in hong kong

http://process.aegpromotion.com/MB2015/tc/

the most expensive is $1880

but it doesn't included backstage pass, meet and greet ..so it's different...

her company is really sucking up the money while they can

but still, her tickets in Hong Kong are already the cheapest in comparison to China/South East Asia/Australia, etc..

they pay around the same price everywhere else without the backstage pass

so expect to pay like $250-300 for good seats if you're in UK/North America

So its not that bad then. G.E.M is better than Buble (I'm not biased at all).

Yeah the u.k prices are always expensive, although sometimes it dpesnt work out, leehom and jolin both had quite a few empty seats which may not have happened with lower prices. Fan Fan's prices were excellent though even though it was a smaller venue. I know she's not as big a star though, it still felt like great value as a fan of hers.

I hope they market G.E.Ms concert well and choose a good venue.

no, because ppl like Jay Chou charges  980 for front row seats and doesn't have a 1800 VIP backstage pass for sales..because she doesn't have status, they don't expect her to charge as much as someone who does, they still think Sammi cheng, miriam yeung, etc...are supposed to be bigger than GEM in HK....

international singers are a different category, they are expected to charge big because they are international ..A b-list international artist has a higher status than Jay chou in their eyes.

I don't know about the UK, but GEM is now a megastar in chinese speaking regions in Asia....she is as big as it gets for a female artist now...she can easily beat Amei's record for the number of concerts on her xxx tour if she wants to...she's #1 on the all artist list on many of China's streaming site for almost a year ...and her last single "I like you" were either #1 or #2 on many countries' itunes and still charting despite being in Cantonese...she has the megastar popularity, but no status obviously...

Yeah well hk media likes to put people down anyway. It would be better if they supported one of the few genuine stars they have.
