What do you make of these charts?

I don't get why it's important to share this then ask what we make of the charts... all I see is Sistar doing better than SNSD with digital singles but SNSD destroying Sistar in every other aspect

I'm just going to quote what STAR1_USA said about the Gaon article:

Gaon article is very scholarly. It was even written by a professor who concludes that because SISTAR is loved by wide age groups in Korea, they deserve to be called a National Girl Group even though they lack domestic and international fandom that SNSD have.

For people wondering the first graph is Digital Sales, second graph is Album Sales, third is Fanclub Size, fourth is Youtube Views, fifth is Length of Time in Top 50 Gaon Chart (hilariously comparing a 2010 release to a 2012 release for some unknown reason).

^ lol, from what I understand from the article (though I don't know much Korean) is the person came to the conclusion that Sistar is loved by a wide age range only due to digital sales and bot ridden online voting.

Yeah call em a national group, because they can totally sell out concerts, tours, albums, are recognized by literally everyone in the country, considered representatives of korean culture and have hundreds of thousands of fans from children to elders. oh wait, sistar literally has none of that. 'scholarly' article my ass, it's clearly written by someone with an agenda. getting so damn tired of this sistar vs snsd crap people keep trying to push. newsflash, if you have to try so hard to label something, you don't deserve that label.

But didn't you just do the same thing with SNSD?

I love how i-fans, specifically SONES, have this ridiculous idea that the "national" title is strictly based on sales and fanbase. ROFLMAO.

IIRC, SNSD wasn't selling out concerts and holding world tours when they stole the title away from the Wonder Girls.

Take your heads out of each other's asses. If Koreans feel that another group is worthy of the title, then they have every right to do so. 'Cause, you know...they live in Korea...and they know what the fuck is actually going on.

defensive stans of both groups aside, it does seem like the main proponents of this supposed SONE vs STAR1 or SNSD vs SISTAR "war" or comparative stats breakdown are outside of the two fandoms in question.

I think not having a horse in the race gives you non-biased view.

isnt it because those are each groups highest selling release? or rather their breakout song?

not so random then.
