what's up with people saying that gfriend has everything to be popular except enough visuals like are they serious? I keep reading this and I don't get it when they like basic looking groups. We have Sinb, Yerin, euhna and Sowon that's more then enough for me to consider them a good looking group, but different opinions I guess.

To be honest, GFriend are quite popular in real life, especially among men. Men find them pretty i guess. Netizens seem to hate them because a lot of them are young fangirls who basically hate every girl group. I think men need to like them in order to get popular, but girls need to like them in order to stay popular. Once gfriend get more opportunities to prove themselves. I'm sure girls will start to like them too.

 

They actually have quite a lot of fangirls already. Their last fansign was nearly half females. A lot of the fansites are girls too. I think they have a pretty good balance atm, but more female fans is never a bad thing. They're the ones that will stream, buy albums, take pictures, defend their idols etc.

Sort of, it's kinda like a teaser/special for the show. The fashion show/makeovers they'll do etc will be with the dogs they're taking care of. It's to build hype, really. The actual dog show doesn't air until the 15th iirc.

Here's an explanation of all the roles for our subbing team if anyone here is willing to join:

 

 

 

Translator:

This is pretty self-explanatory, you’ll be translating. Usually kor-eng but sometimes jap-eng. Depending on fluency, you can be a caption translator or a regular (aka dialog). You’ll basically watch the specified video to be subbed, and translate, separating everything by the person speaking. An example of a translated video transcript can be found here. Once translated, it should be uploaded to our dropbox (which you will receive an invite to once accepted) for other translators to fix any mistakes or add any parts you’ve missed.

Editor:

Once the translation is uploaded and you’ve been notified that it’s complete, you check for any grammatical or spelling errors, correct them, and then reupload to the dropbox.

Timer:

You have one of the more tedious jobs, unfortunately. You’ll take the translated file and input it into your program of choice (if it’s your first time, I recommend AegiSub). Once inputted, add the video file and audio file. You’ll go through, line by line, with the video adding the times of the dialog and translations, making sure they’re at the correct time and aren’t over too fast, making it hard for viewers to read. Don’t worry about fonts and positions, just make sure the text matches the spoken Korean dialog. If ever unsure, you’re free to ask a translator to double-check. Once completed, upload the .ass file to dropbox.

Typesetter:

You’ll take the timed .ass file and add it into your program of choice (again, I recommend AegiSub). Once added, along with video and audio, you’ll basically make everything pretty. Fonts, sizes, positions, effects etc. Try and make the caption text look similar to the original captions, and exact font/color for dialog subtitles will be told to you once you’ve been accepted to GFunited. You’ll then add the finished file to dropbox.

QCer:

The quality checker, you’re one of the last stops. Your main goal is to watch the video with the finished .ass file and check for anything we may have missed. Make sure the subtitles/captions are clear and easy to read, things that need to be explained are explained in a t/n, timing is correct, etc. Once checked you’ll let our encoder know.

Encoder:

You’ll add the .ass file to the video file and join them. Whichever program you wish to use is fine, I personally use VirtualDub. Once they’ve been joined and made into a smaller size (also, .avi file) you’ll upload the finished product to the dropbox.

Uploader:

Your job is simple, upload to our YouTube channel! Make sure the titles are correct, tags, description, quality etc.

 

 

If any further help/explanation is needed just ask!! It was hard for me when I first started subbing bc there's not that many resources..

I know it's kinda far away, and we currently already have a project for their 100th day, but I was thinking if you guys would want us (GFRIEND United) to organize Message Books for each members birthday? It only costs about $60 to produce, which I'm fine with paying unless someone else wants to put in. Eunha's is closest, then SinB's. But Eunha's is still not until May.

For the first year, I'd rather see more group projects done like comeback projects and ___th days projects, but if you do it, I'm sure many people will still participate. It'll take a lot of dedication though since you'd have to do one for every member until December

Yeah I mean ideally I'd rather do group projects too, but they require a lot more participation/donations/planning which I'm not sure we have atm, I mean we're struggling reaching minimum for the 100th day project as no one wants to donate. I figured doing these small projects for their birthdays would be easier, but if people agree with you we won't~ Ultimately it's up to what everyone else thinks as they're the ones we rely on for things to be a success. I was born in 1998. I’m in charge of innocence in the group. My charm is my pure looks but opposite personality. You’ll see my reverse charm soon. Look forward to it! When things get hard I gain strength from my family and Harry Potter. I’m the father at the dorm and â€˜Noisy 2′. I’m thankful to Eunha who I always annoy and sit at the back of the car with no matter what. You must suffer because of me! I’m jealous that Yuju and Sowon don’t gain weight. My ideal type is someone who likes me a lot. If we have the same hobbies it would be even better. I’ll give lots of aegyo to my future boyfriend and become his love. Musicians I like are GD and CL seniors. I want to have force on stage. A program I want to be a guest on is â€˜Running Man’. The easygoing Song Jihyo is really charming. I was born in 1997. I’m GFRIEND’s main vocal. GFRIEND are a blend of femininity and powerful choreography. Also our playfulness that is unable to be hidden. My nickname is the dorm’s mother. I always check on the members health and safety. A praiseworthy member is our maknae Umji. Even though it may seem trivial, her thankful image is pretty. I’m jealous of Sowon and SinB for being able to learn choreography really quickly. A fun episode was when our dance teacher showed us our choreography and we were thinking of what outfits will suit it. We stayed up until late at night trying on different clothes and doing our hair together. A musician I want to be like is Corinne Bailey Rae. My hobby is lyrics. Even when I’m going to sleep I get ideas. A way to relieve stress is eating delicious food. GFRIEND’s goal is to reward our fans with great music and performances. 

 

Eunha

I was born in 1997. I’m in charge of femininity in our group. My charm is my voice. I’ll continue to give good songs in the future! The atmosphere at the dorm is always like a school field trip. Me who never sleeps and wants to play around and whine, they call me â€˜Noisy 1′. A member I want to praise is Umji! As the maknae she’s always taking care of our condition and feelings. In some ways she’s the most mature. I’m jealous of Yerin’s white skin. When we all take pictures together or look in the mirror it looks like Yerin is the only one with lights shining on her. My ideal type is someone who likes me a lot and is comfortable to be around. I’ll be a girlfriend who listens to even their minor problems. A musician I like is Ariana Grande. It's around time when GFU has to design the cake for the 100th day support project, is anyone here an alright drawer and/or creative/has any ideas? It'll be a two layer cake, and the only requirements really is for it to say something about 100 days, and something about GFU. If not we can use a premade design~ But I figured that gets kind of boring as lots of fandoms use them, so if anyone has ideas let me/us know!

Also for the characters in the cake, what outfit do you guys think it should be in? It's a 2 layer cake and I was thinking of having them sitting on the bottom layer together. There's the gym outfits w the red shorts, the uniform they wore once or twice or their usual stage outfits.. idk D:

It's not my favorite outfit of theirs, but the red gym shorts are definitely the most iconic for Gfriend
