It's never too early! I'm already thinking about their comeback next year lol.

1. I would like them to write their lyrics. I think it's less SouMu now and more the members and their perfectionism.

2. Crossroads really established their sound and style firmly, so I think they can experiment a bit more if they want too. That said, they could still retain their style and make it work for summer well. Fever and Sunny Summer were okay, but not quite the level of MGT or Navillera. However, I don't want them trying to recreate an older hit. I feel like Sunrise and Crossroads were trying to do that a bit and it just made folks bored despite them being decent songs. Hyolyn's Sea See sound is something I could imagine them singing.

3. I'd like the MV to be a bit outdoors. I don't know how well that would work with COVID but other idols seem to be doing it a bit. I didn't like that for a summer release, Fever and Sunny Summer were box sets only. I wouldn't mind it if it's a great performance MV like Chungha's Stay Tonight is though.

I was okay with Crossroad's MV. I'm glad they got the story MV they always wanted but I like a mix of story and performance. Rough hits that sweet spot for me.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes or what changes. Many groups like OMG, April, Gidle, and Apink are hitting new heights in their career and I think Gfriend has so much potential still as well, just like them!

Edit: Should add that no GFRIEND song makes me think of summer more than Gone With the Wind

1. an outdoor MV would be nice, assuming they could follow all the necessary health and safety precautions.  not sure if i'd want a typical beach/pool theme, as i feel like those concepts are well saturated in the summer months anyway and it wouldn't really help them stand out.  that being said, if any time is the right time to have their "party" or "DTNA" moment...why not now? lmao
2. genre-wise...i feel like the girls haven't had a consistent summer identity since love whisper...like even though they were referred to once as the "new queens of summer" (post-S*STAR), sunny summer under-performed and fever ventured away into an aesthetic and sound that didn't match their previous work at all (and even though i still like the song well enough, it hasn't aged nearly as well as i'd hoped).  they don't need to be the same teen group they were in 2015/2016, but can i get a refreshing retro feel?  like navillera mixed with LW? that would be amazing
3. if we are limited to indoor sets/concepts...i honestly have no idea.

I've been saying this for a long time so I probably sound like a broken record at this point (sorry guys haha) but I really want them to establish a mature, signature summer sound which I don't think they have done yet because they've been experimenting in summer for the past few summers now. The last 'GFRIEND' summer song felt like too long ago. I think something like Flower is what I'm referring to when I talk about a mature summer sound as opposed to another Navillera in different clothes. Flower is clearly a fun song appropriate for the warmer weather, yet it is sophisticated, colourful and beautiful. The song is also catchy and dance is pretty cool. Definitely sounds like a GFriend song. Alternatively, RetroFriend is always welcome SouMu... *hint hint* I sound like I'm asking of them to not "experiment" but what I really mean is, they can do new things but do it so amazing that you can see why it was done by GFriend, as if it was made for them. I think something like Fever missed the mark with that and Sunny Summer wasn't even trying to be that so I'll give it a pass for being the 'summer special' that it was intended to be (or a 'filler' comeback if you will since they were so busy that year). 

Like @sergel said, I think SouMu/their composers need to stop trying to recreate hit songs. Overuse of Iggy Youngbae was a complaint from some but MGT, Rough, Navillera, Fingertip, etc were all different enough imo. The only ones being similar were LW and SR which was fine considering the intentional parallels (I think it was pretty neat tbh). However, I feel the whole 'trying to recreate hits' thing is very obvious with Noh Joohwan/Lee Wonjong. TFTMN was a fresh, interesting direction for GFriend at the time and it worked. The melancholy, longing, hope and wistfulness was excellently done. It was definitely growth from Rough. Sunrise? Excellent vocals and cohesive with the storytelling but I think the fact that it was musically similar to TFTMN is obvious. For the sake of the storyline, it'll get a pass since it was done well in that aspect. [casual listeners and general public probably don't care about the story specifics though] 

But Crossroads? I love the song and I still listen to it heaps. The Labyrinth EP is one of their best work. I've always defended GFriend against "their songs all sound the same!" comments because I think it's simply not true, but Crossroads was the first time I really thought that the similarity was too much. When we heard an instrumental snippet of Crossroads from a music show preview, I could have sworn that they had played me a bit of the instrumental of Sunrise. I also feel the Moon/Sun/Stars connection is passable but it felt a bit like having a storyline for the sake of a storyline with not enough to stand out and be clearly differentiated from the others. GFriend's storytelling is part of their brand and it's excellent but I just think not everything needs to be connected or be a trilogy if it doesn't need to be. Let the storytelling do its thing without forcing it or dragging it out needlessly. This is not so much for their summer comeback anymore (sorry to go off topic), but my hope for their winter comeback is that they work with another composer. Save Noh and Lee for the b-sides and leave the lead single to someone else. They've explored similar melancholic vibes plenty if we're including their Japanese tracks and using the same composers consecutively inevitably causes an exhaustion of ideas from the composers' side. They are all great songs to me and I love them. But if I as a fan can see the similarity, the casual listener or general public who doesn't care to listen more than a couple times can as well. If they don't think it's as good as their other tracks of the same vibe and similar sound, they'll just simply not listen to it again (which is what I think Crossroads suffered, unfortunately).

I miss rockfriend.  I think I said on here that Labyrinth (the song, not the ep) wasn't exactly what I had been hoping for based on the highlight medley, and I so very miss the electric guitar that used to be omnipresent in their music.  That doesn't mean I need an MGT rehash, but I'd love some of those harder elements to make a return in their music.  If they were to go a little lighter and poppier for summer, I'd understand though.  I just don't want them to lose the real instruments (or imitations of them) because that just isn't them and never has been.

Also, outdoor mv for sure (if safely possible), and I'd like it to retain some semblance of a storyline.  Not necessarily as intense as Crossroads (which I loved, but I don't think a summer song needs that amount of depth), but Sunny Summer I felt wasn't really cohesive (although it had cute moments), and Fever of course had no storyline at all, so.. more than that.  Like, I think I wrote a rant on here a while ago on why Navillera is their best MV, and I still think that, if not just because I think that GFriend is at their best when there's just like a little taste of a story (the making of a roller derby(?) team, but also like the graduation storyline in Rough or just the time progression in MGT, etc.).  I mean, I also like the darker themes in this past trilogy, but I don't think all of their MVs need to be that intense.  And I don't think a lighter MV would be inherently immature or regressive either.

IDK Crossroads was the end of a trilogy, so I'm hoping for some new blood for the single (MIO?), and something unique in the industry that can retain some of GFriend's color.

For an indoor mv... what if they like were all working in an office and tried to make each other feel better about missing the sunny weather outside by turning their office into a pseudo-summer escape or something?  That'd be cute.  And Sowon can be their boss and get fake mad at them for not working (but really she wants to be outside too).  It'd be fitting because we're all dreaming about being outside rn.
