May is according to weekly idol,the month of festivals and one of worst times for coming back. The girls would easily break their 1st week sales record without holidays. Tw*ce is pretty popular among ifans comparef to gf,but they had potential for WAY more if they had a girl crush concept. Meanwhile dreamca*cher and B*S who come from smaller agencies are p popular among ifans thanks to the concept. As for the childish perverted concept and how it attracts horny men,i doubt its so easy to judge. I mean this thread and threads of other ggs with cute concepts are filled with female stans rather than male ones. Its just that girl group fandoms inside korea are mostly consisted of guys. Bp's fandom too,has more male members even tho they are a "girl crush" group. I doubt all male fans view their bias group in that way. It could be that a few do. But im just more than fine with Japanese me gustas tu,since it has to do with Asian culture and the girls THEMSELVES are comfortable with it. Didnt yerin say she loves to wear her school uniform? She did. Thats what matters. Its really hard to judge a whole country's culture,it may have a few flaws,who knows. Not about being #1 on Melon but there have been so many threads about new peaks and stability and longevity. I guess it shows that buddies, without really admitting it, were really distressed by the performance of the last three songs before TFTMN. Ngl sometimes it's hard to be humble when achievements start to come. But I don't think these threads are bragging at all. I have been lurking on OH for long and as soon as navillera promos ended a lot of people started saying gfriend is over. With the digital under performance in 2017 they became worse and I think even buddies who don't know much abt charts would become somehow stressed. Maybe even some people that don't care abt charts would be brainwashed that gfriend is flop. This is imo somehow needed to inform everyone abt how gfriend is still as powerful as ever. I think it has a lot to do with the copious amount of threads prior to this release detailing "Gflop" or how Gfriend shouldn't be counted as a top girl group anymore. And then the slow start to this song I think a lot of us thought that the last few releases weren't just low-charting relative to how Gfriend usually performs, but maybe a new normal. Like maybe Gfriend was a mid-tier group and that was something we'd have to accept. So the fact that TFTMN has actually been a huge hit has maybe inflated some of our egos a little bit. It's just a lot of excitement right now, but it'll cool down by next week I think. Edit: I want to add that I don't think there's anything wrong with being a mid-tier group; I really believe in what the girls told us at the beginning of the comeback: to not worry and just enjoy the comeback. It doesn't matter to me that much if the girls get PAKs and double-digit wins, but I do think switching away from it is something that needs adjustment when we sort of come off a high. I don't know if I'm articulating myself well, but like... I guess it all is just pride in disproving antis and solidifying that Gfriend is a group with such good recognition. I kinda know what you mean but even after the 2017 digital under performance I wouldn't call gfriend a mid tier gg. P sure i saw gfriend_part account translate articles about how they are still a top tier gg last year. I just think at this rate,the gp didn't enjoy 2017 releases as much as previous ones. Love Whisper was given a good chance by Koreans and topped all charts except mnet. I don't think a mid tier group would be given such a chance.
