I mean, if fingertip came out this year/even 2019, I believe it surely would become a hit. At least they had a comeback for digital charts for TFTMN, which shown that they are able to. Being a fan from Rough era (little bit TMI here, literally my first time hearing from them was Rough MV teaser... and I was immediately drawn to them to this day...) I'm glad the girls have found their way to get more involvement not just in composing/songwriting, but in the album production in general. Honestly we hear a lot from them saying that they want to be a long-lasting group rather than a top group. While I do believe they mean this, I don't think that anyone who went through a "peak" like them (arguably one of the largest in KPOP) can just throw this away like they don't care about it at all. I feel like the lyrics in Stairs in the North kinda relate to this. I guess as the girls are going through the contract renewing period now, this may be some uncertain time for us even tho I have confident they'll all resign. Just a little bit sentiment before their 3rd album is out. Hope this is not imposing any negative impression. less than 16 hrs to go!! Spoiler Okay after listening to MAGO like a thousand times, I've been thinking about the "nostalgia" that people are talking about. MAGO is definitely different from anything they had done before, but it somehow embodies their element of being melancholy while upbeat. They did it with TFTMN and Sunrise. But even Rough, its BPM is not slow at all and with quite strong drumbeats too. Look at the lyrics, it's kinda empowering but also give me the sense of "dance all night long to get rid of the sorrows, despairs and regrets even just for a while". The contrast between the brightness in the melodies and those minors which gives out the darkness in background synth especially in the chorus is interesting, it literally screams "apocalypsis disco" to me every time the chorus comes in. Also, the bridge by Sinb and the Yeju/Leadmak part of "I'll fly on the bloom, look at me" "We can dance in this moonlight again, come with me" in pre-choruses resemble their earlier releases not in terms of musicality but lyrics, if you think about it, almost all bridges GF's single are yearning for answers or confessing their love with much passion. Except that this time they are not asking somebody else but themselves, it's like they're trying to comfort themselves "I'll be ok even if something bad happen". And listening to the teaser I already thought of how they are gonna put the two hooks together because they are practically two choruses: My life is waiting for you... and Mago Mago. But they somehow manage to do that and it turns out amazing. Only the ending is a little abrupt to me but overall I haven't fallen THIS hard for their titles immediately since like Navillera. I've been playing it non-stop even as I wrote all these bullsh*t. I don't remember Apple being this high. I think #26 is the old system (realtime) which is not shown on Melon anymore but you can find the data on www.kpopchart.kr. Both Apple and Mago debuted #11 in old system but then Apple fell off top 40 after a few hours while Mago stayed in top 20 until 9AM/10AM KST on the second day and then rose back to top 30 at night. So we can say that Mago is doing better than Apple so far. Their positions kinda didn't match but still synchronized while BLINDFOLDED and the way that 99% of their shadows matched after taking the eye mask off.
