I'm wondering why Source hasn't confirmed their reported December comeback though (someone do correct me if they have confirmed and I'm just lost). It makes me feel inclined to believe that it's early January as opposed to December. For reference, does anyone remember how early TFTMN's comeback was announced or if they all of a sudden just dropped the comeback schedule? eternal glow 6,196 Posted December 9, 2018 Share Posted December 9, 2018 when it hit #1 on melon i screamed..and each morning i used to wake up to a new TFTMN win and i would just be so grateful ~ i hope antis learn from gfriend's curse but that may be wishful thinking ;) They'll never learn tbh. TFTMN was a hit, arguably a bigger hit than Navillera but everyone just wants to talk about Sunny Summer which was promoted for what, like a week(?) and was clearly labelled as a Summer special. I mean, they'll never learn when they still call the girls "declining" when they were able to bounce back after three underperforming comebacks. eternal glow 6,196 Posted December 9, 2018 Share Posted December 9, 2018 I would argue that if all the last 5 songs were released at better times, then every one of these songs would have been bigger hits, and nobody would be talking about "declining" or underperforming, and whining they aren't attending end of year shows or only singing one song if they do attend. I'm not saying they didn't do well this year, but with better timing of their releases, they would have done even better. TFTMN literally had perfect timing (as pointed out many pages ago) so idk what better timing you were hoping for, especially with how busy and packed their schedule was this year. It was because of the timing that allowed TFTMN to take the #1 on Melon before B** had their comeback and snatch up so many music show wins. As for whether the 2017 releases or Sunny Summer would have done better if released in a different order or different time, we'll never know. Personally though I feel that sometimes it's not always about timing. If the general public weren't that big of a fan of those songs, then that's that. Timing may have helped a bit but ultimately, if the public aren't feeling it, then they won't. As for attending end of year shows, there's minimal to no complaints about attendance. Singing only TFTMN is understandable since they aren't going to be singing "Sunny Summer let's have a good time! Hey!!" when it's winter and freezing outside. Sunny Summer is an extremely seasonal song. Most Buddies were just hoping for a cool stage or special stage if they do choose to attend shows. But what if it was released at a different time? It could have been #1 for a week or 2 weeks, and then this exposure could have got them more opportunities and more fans. They are doing ok, but the strategy in use for the last 2 years on when to release isnt helping them. It is like they are deliberately releasing around the same time as certain groups and it is not working, so they really need to do something different. Forgot to add another thought + spoilered since it's getting a bit long If they released earlier or at a different time, it would have clashed with other groups just the same. It's literally impossible to comeback when not a single soul is making a comeback and quite frankly, I personally am not fond of that idea anyway. Every time GFriend achieves something, if haters are not screaming "empty house" they are screaming "flop". There's no winning regardless. Competition is healthy and they don't need to purposely avoid it if circumstances don't allow for it. For real, the timing for TFTMN was as good as it could get given the circumstances, especially since TFTMN took some time before the chart reversal. The fandom is literally growing every year and every comeback, as evident in album sales which keep improving. They're doing perfectly fine. Not every group needs PAK, CAK, to say #1 for a whole month to be doing well. So many groups would love to be "doing ok" like GFriend is. Maybe our definitions of success are different /shrug/. Edit: Forgot to add that I totally get what you mean by releasing things at the right time and timing is indeed a factor for even greater success. eternal glow 6,196 Posted December 17, 2018 Share Posted December 17, 2018 just a question: what are your (meaning the buddies on this thread) hopes for gfriend this coming year? what do you hope they get to do/achieve? personally, i'd like 2019 to be filled with more variety appearances and for gfriend to release another full length album. i'd also love for them to win another bonsang or something I want their 2nd full length album too! (Bless Source Music just confirmed it!!) <3 I want at least two fully promoted comebacks. The girls have been busy and reaching new milestones this year but I must admit a part of me was a tiny bit upset that promos for both TFTMN and Sunny Summer were not as long as I hoped with TFTMN cut short as they went to Japan(? my memory is a bit fuzzy) and Sunny Summer was obviously just a buzz comeback barely promoted. I'm hoping we get an encore concert DVD too. Individual activities-wise, I'd be happy for them to keep doing variety shows, singing drama osts (esp Yuju). Personally, I'm going to be really honest and say I do not want them to go into acting unless of course a member was really passionate about it and has got their acting chops down. The last thing I want is for them to get criticism for being poor actors. I guess all in all, I don't have any huge desires for what I want the girls to do next year. I just hope for at least two well promoted Korean comebacks, for individual activities to keep coming and for their encore concert DVD. I absolutely agree with you! The girls have something special to them and this is exactly it. I remember throughout the years, they've been called copy cats of other groups, boring, doing the same song and concept, etc. If they were only "copy cats", "same song/concept" and didn't have their own unique colour, they wouldn't be successful group like they are now. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I really really hope SouMu give her a chance to shine, even "Happy together" producer loves her composed song for their program and SinB mentioned why never do for their own group on the backstage vlive. of course, I strongly believe SinB know that Yuju did compose for them but maybe not accepted by SouMu :( The little snippet she sang on V Live sounded quite lovely <3 Personally, I'm totally for any one of the girls (or multiple of them) making contributions to the albums if that's their interest. It doesn't even have to be composing the whole song but even writing lyrics because I mean, gotta start somewhere and it would be better than nothing at all. Hopefully Source would give them opportunities to do that when the time is right or if the songs fit nicely with the albums, etc. I have enough trust in Source to support the girls eventually having more voice and contributions in their music if that's their choice (and hopefully they won't prove me wrong LOL). On another note, would be great for the girls in general to have more say in what they do in the future, not just limited to the music. eternal glow 6,196 Posted December 21, 2018 Share Posted December 21, 2018 I heard Jan 7 is the guess due to it being the new moon, and because Idol Room will probably broadcast on the 8th if it keeps the same time slot (Tuesday). But if it's later in January then the 20th is the full moon (and Idol Room could be broadcast later, eg 1/22), but because their anniversary is the 15th, it'd make sense if they'd want to promote while that happens. If it's the earlier date, then we'll start getting more info around Christmas! Same as spopo, many think is 7 Jan based on the moon theory , i mentioned a few pages back I have no confident for that as 3 members are going for ISAC filming that day and I doubt they can do the showcase unless MBC allows to leave early, also I feel that SouMu will get complain by k-buddies for them from the stadium to the showcase place (which I don't think SouMu will not do it because is 2nd FULL ALBUM) Another date will be 21st Jan which is also based on the moon theory. I praying for anniversary that week. As for teaser if they works the same as the previous two I believe we have to wait for the IG to be aligned then we may get teaser. I don't think today midnight and tomorrow midnight we getting anything (SouMu hardly post on weekends) Thanks for the thoughts guys!
