Red Velvet is nominated with Winner, Mamamoo, Eddy Kim, and Park Boram.

 

This is the current ranking (in time of writing):

I know it will be hard to win against Winner but at least the fans can try to help Red Velvet to win it.

and akmu are probably gonna get the artist of the year award so rookie award is no big deal for them..............

I don't understand why people say this LMAO.

 

Their debut single actually did okay for rookie standards. It was only their 2nd single that actually did really badly but I don't blame them since it's nothing but a remake and a boring one at that. I mean who in their right minds would let their rookie group promote with a remake? Meh. People surely love to lump everything together. Just because one song of theirs flop doesn't mean the other one did.

 

I think the reason why AkMu isn't nominated here is probably because technically they don't fit the 'rookie' criteria anymore in a sense that they already released a lot songs in the past and has had tons of promos already and it would be unfair to put them there along with groups that actually just debuted this year. One more thing is that AkMu is surely gonna win other bigger awards so this is irrelevant for them. Better to give it to someone else.

AKMU most likely was not nominated because they had already received a nomination last year (Best OST). 

Also the past 3 years they've award two winners (and usually a male act and a female act). So they might do the same two winners thing this year, so voting is still important. Though I wonder how much voting will help a potential second winner considering Winner is running away w/ the votes. I've seen some weird math when people calculate how groups can win music shows w/ physical sales even if physical sales are usually like 20% of the of the final tally or something.
