Now, there's a few artists that went to the American Market some of them achieve a little and some did not.

Since Cl is turning into a solo artist in the US which idol or solo artist do you think will slay? Well i wouldn't say Slay but I guess achieve their goals that they wanted in the US. But then again, it depends how the music is like and how they promote. But coming from their Music and style and what they bring and already have.

My opinion would be

Big Bang (music, fans, style, already popular)

Ailee (beautiful voice, fans, speaks english)

TTS  ( I think America would like their music)

No kpop artists are popular in the US. Nobody knows who they are except American kpop fans.

Tbh Big Bang would never make it in the west. Their image only works because they're kpop. In America people would tear them apart, your avarage American would only see a group of short Asian men, who wear makeup and weird clothing.

Everything that makes them ~edgy~ to kpop fans is exactly what your average American will hate and make fun of.

Also all their previous racism scandals (blackface, appropriating black culture, etc) will re-surface and come back to hunt them. Especially GD's blackface incident.

TTS/ Ailee/ CL might be special in kpop but apart from being Asian they honestly offer nothing new to the American music scene.

CL is not that attractive and talent wise she is mediocre at best. She would need to have really strong backing to get anywhere in America and Scooter Braun just isn't going to cut it, he only has Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande who are popular and JB is on a free-fall and Ariana is only semi-popular and like JB a lot of people don't like her (I love her tho).

Outside of that the only real connections she has are Jeremy Scott and Diplo and maybe Rita Ora (taking a couple of pictures with a few Western celebs and going to NY/Paris fashion weeks don't mean anything) and none of them are relevant tbh.

from your choices I could see Bigbang getting a one hit wonder but no success outside of that, same goes for CL

Ailee sounds like any other singer out there, her voice isn't anything America hasn't seen already and she's just a good vocalist. That isn't a rarity.

No for TTS since they're a group.

So yeah none tbvh.

None because they're asian. Let's not pretend there's no racism, it's there. It's not easy for 'general' americans public to idolize and liking asian singers.

I believe actor/actress have better chance but not singers. Unless their stuffs go viral like psy but that's pure luck.

Also, they have to be able to speak english perfectly.

I asked my little niece about this lol, she said, "They should be able to do Kungfu first because they're asian."

Made me think Oh there's no reason to bring them to american market if they dont have anyhing new to show there.

The only Kpop artist that "made it" in the American market is PSY. Sadly, he didn't make it because of his talent (I'm not saying he's talentless) but because he's chubby, because the MV is really funny, the lyrics easy to remember (at least "Oppa Gangnam Style which is half of the song tbh), the music catchy and the choregraphy so fun to dance.

The main thing is, it doesn't matter if the idol is talented or not. They could make a one hit wonder because they're funny, awkward, stereotypical. Nothing more, sadly.

Kpop will take over little by little, though. I believe that South Korea is gaining influence throughout the world, Kpop being one of the major reason it is. However, I don't think any idol will suddenly be successful. We just need to give it time. Kpop will become popular maybe in like 10 or 15 years.

people saying TTS, I don't really understand why   i can't see westerners, non kpop fans liking their kind of music at all.

I would say Taeyang, he could pull a Trey Songz but I doubt any kpop idol could make it in the US, the racism is strong and kpop style of music would not attract the general public tbh, I don't see people jamming to Overdose, Mamacita, Gee AT ALL.

Agree, Psy made it for those reasons you stated. Now most people think kpop is like that.

none tbh,the american market isn't just about music and talent, connections are the most important factor.

nomatter how creative or free it looks, one can make it with connections.

in kpop, even kpop fans them selves (80%) have a hard time understanding the asian cultrue, like when they see k-netz comment they go "j

koreans are this or that".they don't look at the person him self but generlize it to the whole nation.

so to answer your question unless it was a comedic consept the korean or asians in general wont make it big there, bcuz ppl are arroggant af nomatter how you put it.
