I need help with question 17,19,21

Only with Part A because it was the part I got wrong lol

EDIT: I need help on 23 as well on Part C only

Answer is 0,1/2; (0,-1), (1/2,-1)

The answer to 17 is Domain {x|x >0} Range All real numbers

19. Domain All real numbers Range: {y|y ≤ 2}

21. Domain All real numbers Range:{y|y ≥ -3 }

But can u guys explain why are these the answer to these questions? I dont get why! :unsure: :rlytearpls:

You have problems with understanding the domain? ( so the graph exercise)

If that's the problem I might be able to help ><

Yes i need help based on the graph exercise as you can see but on top of the page it has Part A,B, and C u have to do but i only need help with Part A with questions 17,19,21

Ok I'm not sure if this is what you're askingn but for the graph questions part a with the domain and range:

Basically the domain is all the x values of the function, and range is the y values. So for example #17 it looks like there's an asymptote at x=0, so you know that the graph will not cross that vertical line. So the x values of the function will be greater than 0. And for the range it's all real numbers because the graph goes on infinitely in the y direction. I'm on my phone right now so it's hard to type but if you need more explanations, pm me ^_^

23 c would be something like this

-1 = 2x² - x - 1

2x² - x = 0

x(2x - 1) = 0

x' = 0

2x - 1 = 0

x'' = 1/2

no?

Yeah it is but then it says the points are (0,-1) and (1/2,-1)

which idk where in the hell they got -1 from .-.

Ok now that I'm back home I shall try to answer question 23 part C!

So f(x)=2x2-x-1, right? and it asks you to find x when f(x)= -1. Basically, remember that f(x) is pretty much another way of saying y. So they're asking you what x is when y= -1. To find this, just substitute -1 into the original equation.

So it would be

-1=2x2-x-1

0=2x2-x

0=x(2x-1)

x=0 or 2x-1=0

x=0 or x=1/2

Then, they ask you what the points are. Remember that f(x) (aka y)= -1

So the points would be (0,-1) and (1/2,-1)

They got the -1 from the original question. Like how it was asking you to find the x values at f(x)= -1

Or if you wanted to go the long way, you could substitute both values of x back into f(x)=2x2-x-1, and you would get -1 both times.

-1 is the Y value, it was given in the question

the funcion is f(x) = 2x² - x - 1

so u replace f(x) with the value given so it goes

-1 = 2x² - x - 1

Wow....i just realized that :._.: thank u though!
