Yang Hongseok: A victim of evil editing

hongseok.jpg

1. Lack of screen time during the fan meet when he introduced himself amusingly as a hip hop newbie and showed off his moonwalking.
2. Even among the many fans who were cursing at him or not paying any attention to him, he still made eye contact and smiled at the very few who were holding up his slogan.  He loved the slogans so much that he carried it around and held on to it until they got off stage.
3. During the final stage, fans asked for his sign and he got on his knees and signed it for them.  He wrote "Thank you!" on the back of their slogans.
4. His fun, joking personality doesn't get shown on broadcast.
5. Gets along very well with the other members but the editing makes it seem like he's always alone.
6. Went up on the search rankings after a broadcast where he only got at least ~3 minutes of screen time.

1. [+202, -12]  Off the bat he's handsome and likeable.  Though he joined late and is being carefully watched, he isn't complacent and still carries a sense of self-regard.  Out of the three new members, he has the best voice as well.

2. [+194, -10]  Truly a victim of evil editing...  YG is blatantly making a fool of the viewers with this broadcast.  From a program that lets fans vote and bring their own slogans, I have never seen a program with such biased editing such as this.  Yang Hongseok, I support you!

3. [+184, -9]  I believe in you because of the mentality and character that you've shown no matter what anyone else says... though there still aren't a lot of people who believe you right now, stay strong.

4. [+68, -1]  Yang Hongseok is the type that grows on you after a while.  His true character gets shown little by little as you get to know him and people's reaction towards him can totally change.  From the first fan meeting and now the final match, people are starting to look at him differently and people's reaction towards him now is no joke ;;;  He definitely would have gotten more popular if it wasn't for the editing.

5. [+67, -2]  I'll be honest that I didn't care for him at first but I was surprised after going to the fan meeting and the final match... because he wasn't the Hongseok that I saw on broadcast ã…‹ã…‹  There weren't a lot of cheers for him but he didn't get depressed by it and continued on with sense.  After watching their final stage, I started to like him ã…‹ã…‹ My heart changed to Yang Hongseok.  Hope you debut for sure.  Hwaiting!

6. [+54, -4]  To those who will vote for Hongseok in the final match, press the up-vote.  This is so frustrating!  Seriously.... please... let Hongseok debut.

"I was originally rooting for the original six plus Chanwoo and I was planning on voting for Chanwoo in the last round but after watching their final stage my heart started to go towards Yang Hongseok.  I thought his personality was so-so because of the image they showed on broadcast but he fits with the members more so than I thought and is kind mannered.  During the fan meet, Hong Seok said that he wanted to do well but he's never done anything like this so his body wasn't following what his mind wanted him to do.  He said that he felt sorry and that he would work even harder.  When he said those words, my heart was truly touched."

1. [+65, -6]  I like Hongseok a lot ã… ã… ã… ã… ã…   If I start to like an idol, it's usually just for a short time or so but I've really fallen for Bobby, B.I, and Yang Hongseok.  IKON will really become successful... even if it's for their future, I think the best choice would be Hongseok rather than Chanwoo.

2. [+63, -6]  I went to the final match with my vote on Chanwoo and left with my vote on Hongseok instead.  I don't know exactly why but Hongseok was a lot better during the final stage.

3. [+41, -9]  I really want to know the reason why YG is so insistent on pushing Chanwoo forward.  Is it because he's more known through his appearance on The Heirs?  I don't understand their reasoning...

YG did this reverse psychology type thing so people would vote for him.....

He is a genius

I honestly doubt this very much. That is way too risky of a strategy. More than likely these votes are rigged, because YG will not have invested time and money into producing a boy band that has glaring flaws in the lineup.

The whole idea that the audience decides was dumb from the start.

SO you think that YG wanted to rig the votes for Hongseok to win?

Either way I think he wanted Hongseok to have a sort of Cinderella type story...which is why they made Chanwoo look good knowing he was the most useless

I'm honestly not sure if they are rigging it, or who they would rig it for, but I do think that the corporation would probably not take chances with the whole 70% of the vote being from the audience. I just don't see it as plausible that the company would spend so many years and so much money to produce the group and the show to make it reliant upon a very volatile and unpredictable public vote.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. If  they planned on this reversed psychology thing then it worked. But honestly how can they ever know hongseok has this awesome personality?   How would they know he has the charm to turn the haters to fans? What if the person isn't hongseok then he will be hated all his life? Way to mess someone's dream. Entertainment (YG specifically) is really brutal if that's the case. Though reality is it really is brutal in many ways/  The credit at the end of the day all goes to hongseok though, I think people got more attached but he would have had equal amount of  fans and way way less haters without this unfair editing.

I really feel like that's the case. I think that YG wants to expand more with his artists and have them do other things.. TOP is the only actor in the company as oppose to other companies like SM or JYP who have more actors, actresses and personalities that go on variety shows.

Yeah I never really trust that they will actually go with the actual result from the fans if it doesn't fit their ultimate plan for the group...

I agree.

But I still think the way he played this thing out was on purpose at least to build a low to high type image for Hongseok.....

lol that's exactly what i'm thinking. He did it w/WIN & it worked to perfection in the end.

Team B dominating the whole show, from camera times to competition & yet in the very end, Team A won it all & no one's complaining. it made sense because Team A was more set to go…. the same is for HongSeok imo.

Also, seeing how many fans he actually managed to attract since last week, I'm leaning much towards this. YG's a fucken genius
