I am shocked by how amazing this song and MV was for a DEBUT.  Best debut ever?  Ya, I said it... wowsers.  I'm a huge fan already.

Hey, nice review!  I like the way you broke down the MV and emphasized "vocals" throughout your review.  That's exactly what I thought when I watched their intro video.  They introduced themselves first by doing a harmony.  These girls look seasoned, which I find uncommon in a rookie group, but it shows how much they (and the company) prepared.  BESTie was another group I thought seemed seasoned when they debuted, but probably because they were members of EXID beforehand. 

 

I also love your setup.  By any chance are those KRK Rokit reference monitors (the yellow ones)? 

 

I think keeping the fancam links outside a spoiler is fine for now, it'll just be once we start getting more and more of them you'll have to revisit how you want to list them which I think by member and group like I said will probably be the most useful.  I'm sure if someone else has another idea on how to structure it, they'll chime in and say something.

 

My suggestion would be not to have links to other posts in the thread.  In fact, the only time I think you should do it is if you don't have time to update the OP and there's some information you want to link to until you get time to do so.

 

I probably will need to create another sub-header "Fancams".  I have "Fansites", but I don't think that fits. 

 

I was thinking of adding another post and dedicate it to fansites and fan stuff in general.  I had in mind of reserving more posts under the OP, but I didn't want to create more than what was needed at the time.  If this group blows up (as I suspect they will) they'll probably need more than just posts.  Which leads to another thought...

 

I thought about getting a domain for Purfles, but I don't want to deal with all the admin stuff like fansites do.  If anything I see myself doing more of the coding stuff, and as I know very well that will take up a lot of time too.  We'll need translators (a key for any successful fansite), but just about every fansite I see and even the most popular groups, have issues with (active) translators.  It was just a thought I had.

I was planning to include their group name with the meaning and correct way of pronouncing it, but TBH I didn't know what the meaning was and didn't know how to pronounce the group.  I wasn't sure if it was pronounced as "purr-fuls".  Exactly what is the meaning?    I thought it was a play on words (English + Korean) and it had to do with Pearls.  Like the girls are gems. 

 

And you can list the producers of the song as well (I took this from a You Tube comment on their MV and is basically confirmed from Collapsedone's twitter):

Which picture of my setup are you looking at?  Yes, I had KRK Rokit 6G2's for a while, but I've upgraded to Yamaha NS-10M's and Advent Legacy I's (both driven by Carver power amps) as my main "A" and "B" speakers in the studio.  I will say that the KRK's are great for listening on... but I needed something that was a bit more surgical for my producing work.

I think having a section for fancams if it starts getting big is fine. And yeah, for now I wouldn't use more posts than are needed.

 

LoL, I'll tell you what, if they do end up blowing up and you want to create a fan site, let me know.  Hopefully there'll be fans who want to translate as well.

The name Purfle means "to adorn," which signifies that they will become singers who adorn the music world.

(in other words make the world of music more beautiful)

 

I think you should just list the producers of the song under the song title or something.  Like Produced by and their names.  I think you could put the meaning of the group name under that new Facts and Trivia section

Brainstorming...Aside from a lot of initial and continuous work, if we have a dedicated forum I was thinking that it will be different than the typical ones out there?  Generally fansites have their main sections, like group forums, sub sections, site-specific forums (ex. announcements, help), but then they branch out into other sections.  I don't see those as necessary (but I could be wrong).  Sometimes having a lot of forums will make a site dry (not active looking).  Maybe it will include a blog/article section and of course a gallery.  A forum structure that is simple (not bloated), but of course appealing to the eye.  Hm. 

 

I think I'm getting too ahead of myself...

It's hard now to stand out in kpop, so, good luck to them, this song deserve to do well.

 

Yeah, it's getting harder and harder with so many groups.  Something just stood out to me when I came across their MV teaser, so I naturally took an interest.    I hope they do well too.  On a side note, I think "Awesome" is a fantastic song.

I assume you're using one of the online translators? 

 

​What's happening is it's splitting the group name in two, so instead of translating í¼íŽ„즈 it's doing í¼ íŽ„ì¦ˆ with 펄즈 being a Korean phonetic approximation of the English word pearls (peoljeu).

 

Guilty.   I created a thread in the Lobby asking for a translation of their name.  I think I'm going silly looking for information about the members.

Guys of topic but:

 

I have been wanting to learn Korean for 4 years now but never got the change to. I feel like if I don't start soon. It's going to become harder. So I've decided to learn it now.

Does anybody have any tips for me on how to learn it or where to learn it? I've checked and there isn't a school in my country that teaches you korean.

 

 

I've been told by native speakers (and I guess it also goes for most if not all other languages) that the best way is being there, living in their country, speaking to the locals.  I'm assuming you don't know people who speak Korean in your area so my second approach would be a private tutor.  Third, formal training like school (but you don't have that available).  I'm not sure how well software tools are like Rosetta.  I think there is a thread somewhere in OH that teaches Korean, but I'm not sure if that is still ongoing.  I've seen online (free) sites that teaches you the basics of character recognition, writing, pronunciation, and etc.  I've been wanting to learn too, it sure would help trying to figure out Purfles' stuff.

OMG thank you both so much. Those tips will help a lot and those site will help to. I'm also thinking of studying abroad in Korea but I need to plan that out better.

If you do any of those please let us know how it goes.  My (current) wants are simple, and that is to be able to read at a decent level so I don't have to be dependent on translations.

Nothing yet AFAIK.  I've been checking there, YesAsia among other places.  So far no luck.  There's usually a delay with iTunes so I'm hopeful that it will become available soon.

Damn!  For me Inkigayo is the best performance thus far.  Everything from the stage to outfits to performance were spot on, Even the video quality was the clearest so far, and I love clear. 

 

Ok, so we got some member information thanks to minoseungyoon!  I've re-tweaked the OP and 2nd post a bit and added the information.  I had a strong feeling they were at least 20 (actually I thought 21+) just by their presence alone.  I hope I got the information correct, but if not please let me know.

Anyone noticed towards the end of the Inkigayo performance (during Geonhee's "Oh, it's ok") Wooyoung bites her lips and as the camera did a close up shot she went from the sassy lip bite to seductive smile?  I wonder if she wanted to laugh but held to her character.
 

Though I'm not saying Eunyong is not sexy, she is but she is more the funny person to me then the sexy type. Because if you look at my sig. Right before the damn guys part. Wooyoung and Gunhee swing their hair but Eunyong is just...I don't know what she is doing but I laughed so hard at that part when finishing my gif.

 
Either a shampoo commercial or an incredibly awesome orgasm?    I actually thought Eunyong would be leading in the poll.  If not her then Geonhee, because of the initial reactions before their debut.  I'm curious to see how the reactions will be for each performance.  Oh, that could be a poll question.  Anyway to get back on point (hehe) it's good to see the all 3 have favorable reactions. 
 
This is pretty much a solid group.  TBH I don't think they did as well with the Bruno Mars's cover, as I don't think that song fits their vocals and style, but that's just me.  Any good singer will need a good song to compliment they're assets.  "1,2,3" is that song.  I'm excited to see what they'll come up with next.

I also thought this stage was their best so far.  These girls just get better each time, and their first debut stage was impressive.  Lots of hair teasing.

3. I do to believe that cover wasn't made for them. They are better off with 1,2,3 and I do to wonder what they will bring next.

The girls look so much different from their intro video to their "1,2,3" performance.  The contrast from sweet and bubbly to fierce and powerful is quite a transformation.  We know they can do powerful songs so I'm curious how they'll do with ballads and softer songs.  BEG is one of those groups who can go back and forth (ballads and hard hitting songs) and I have a feeling so can these girls.  I guess we'll have to wait and see. 

 

I also noticed during Eunyong's solo at around the 1:27 mark of Inkigayo the cameras panned to Wooyoung and Geonhee.  Tsk tsk we know who the director likes. Poor girl, I like that part of the song and choreography too.  It is still my favorite performance.  Simply K-Pop has good stages so I'm looking forward to it.

I only understood some of the video with my struggling Korean learning but I'm sure sometime along we'll get a fluent Korean speaker that can at least post translations on the comments of their videos (like the one for Minx)

I was surprised too.  I'm not sure if it's a one song thing or the producer will be on board for other songs.  As long as they keep coming out with good songs I'm cool. 

 

I wonder when their performance for SBS MTV The Show will actually air, it could be as early as today (the 28th) or in a couple of weeks time (due to the nature of pre recorded appearances). 

 

Whoa, I didn't even see that on their schedule.   I guess they added it in recently.  I added it in and the Show Champion for Wednesday.  They have something on the 30th on KBS2, but I don't know what that is.
