godigodi 287
Netizens please, you don't necessarily have to study design to be a designer. Some people are just born with it and learn while doing directly. She design so she is a designer, it's that simple. 6

fgt 1,210
[+7117, -394] Um..... okay.... goodbye......... lmao... a Korean going to the USA?! 'umm... ok... bye' if she sell cheap then it not high fashion brand. she sell at high price bcos she want it to be high end not for cheap ppl. but she isn't good enough for high fashion. she hasn't set herself up well enough for high fashion. 'high end' people aren't going to be the ones buying her sunglasses...I mean, most of them are sunglasses that they could easily get better replicas of from reputable and well known brands. high end fashion and those that buy into it are there for BRANDS. they're going to buy brands who have power, reputation, etc. 3

Yeah but couldn't she have started with a lower priced range and then made a luxury collection if the first went well? Then she would be able to cater to the smaller high end market and people that don't have as much disposable income 4
chinesefood 497
Netizens please, you don't necessarily have to study design to be a designer. Some people are just born with it and learn while doing directly. She design so she is a designer, it's that simple. It's standard netizen mangled comprehension and linear Korean worldview Ralph Lifshitz, aka Ralph Lauren was a college dropout and a salesman before becoming famous as a designer. Vera Wang studied history and worked in publishing before starting her business. Neither Kate nor Andy Spade (David Spade's brother) of Kate Spade handbags had any design degree. Then there's people like Jessica Simpson who oversea their own huge fashion companies. Most famous brands in the world are not run by people who went to school to study fashion. Koreans just have a couple of hard Asian preconceptions in their head that they can't get past. First is that American culture is superior so they will rail all day about some aspect of Korean society or people they look down on but won't peep about what we do over here in the US. The other is that they equate a degree with legitimacy. So that even if you personally you don't have to know anything about fashion, any girl with a from FIT is automatically endowed with design talent and sensibility. It does seem like Jessica doesn't really know what she's doing but that has nothing to do with a degree and everything to do with Tyler seeming to be a goof. Not that it's a crime to figure things out as you go. Ralph Lauren started by selling sweatshop ties out of the back of his car until he convinced Neiman Marcus to start carrying him 4

And these days Chinese are fucking rich, insane buying power. HK's jewelry and other luxurious items' shops are filled with mainland buyers that looks as if they are going to clear stocks of every shop they get in.
