SuperStar SMTOWN is a South Korean rhythm game developed by Dalcomsoft Inc. and distributed by SM Entertainment. It was first launched on Google Play in August 2014. The game features songs by artists of SM Entertainment company. The game is available worldwide and the languages available are in English and Korean.

Before you play, make sure you have pretty damn good processor for better gaming experience and spacey memory since you need to download the songs on the first time you play them. If you experience lag, you can set the screen resolution to 'low'.


 

How to Download

ANDROID

SuperStar SMTOWN on Google Play

Requires Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and up.

Alternative:

• Go to your phone settings and check on allow unknown sources to install application.
• Download QooApp apk and install.
• Download SuperStar SMTOWN apk from QooApp and install.
• QooApp will tell you when a new version is up.

iOS

SuperStar SMTOWN on iTunes

Requires iOS 7 or later.

Alternative: (credits to EC and Anye)

• Go to settings.
• Go to "iTunes & App Store".
• View your Apple ID (enter your password if necessary).
• Go to “Country/Region†and change your country or region to South Korea (it should appear last on the list as “대한민국â€).
• Click “Next†and then click “Agree†to accept the terms and conditions.
• Enter a random South Korean address (a friend looked up a random South Korean hotel and used their address, seems to have worked).
• Your iTunes App Store has now been switched to South Korea.
• Search for “SuperStar SMTOWN†in your iTunes and download.

Starting Off

• Sign up and pick a profile picture of the idols available. Don't worry about having multiple biases, you can change your profile picture anytime.
• Register your email to become a Regular Member. It will allow you to log in with your account with that email in case of data loss or other unexpected occurrence.
• Touch Sync will appear next and play f(x) Jet twice to determine your timing. Tap according to the beat that you hear instead of what you see. Once you’re satisfied, tap on “Let’s Play†button.

For further explanation about the game and how it works, go to the game's internal FAQ (the '?' in a circle on the bottom of the screen).

Tips

• Avoid wasting your time upgrading big groups like Suju since soloists like Amber will give you a higher score at a fraction of the cost. (cr. evil4life)
• When a group member leaves a group, save up their cards since you can trade all of them for any other card in the game when the time comes for Dalcom to remove them from the system. (cr. evil4life)

before that, I downloaded from some zip file and when I updated it, I lost all the game and had to re-play from start

OMG I'm stuck on SuJu's Twins (Knock Out) hard mode too T_T before that I was stuck on f(x)'s Airplane.... So hard T_T

BTW one way to ensure that you don't lose your account is to sign up for a regular account using your email! Go into your profile and it should show up near the bottom

I'm addicted as well ) I completed all the songs on hard mode and now I'm trying to get them to 3 stars which is pretty hard..managed to do so for only 2 of them >.<

I really like rhythm games and used to play Tap Tap Revolution all the time on my old iPod back in the day.

A couple of things though:

Thankfully, it has a 100% chance of success, but costs a few thousand RP just to upgrade the card. It’s expensive, but well worth the cost! I believe the cost goes down as the card rank goes up: upgrading two rank C cards to a rank B costs 5,000 RP; two B's to an A costs 4,000 RP; and two A's to an S costs 3,000 RP.

Sadly, the cost goes up, not down ;_; I spent 10,000RP to upgrade my Red Light Sulli from B to A

The missions aren't all that bad—you're rewarded with a random card and some RP, so it's only a bit annoying that you can't play your favorite group's songs first. And at the end, if you've completed the entire line up of songs in a difficulty setting, you'll earn a "premium pack" of cards full of B- through S-ranked cards. Sweeet.

I'm curious to know too. The only S card I've gotten was when I first downloaded the game.

Oh ; ; I don't know, actually! it could have been coincidental...? But I clearly remember clearing all the songs on easy AND normal mode, and both times I did that I actually received a premium pack. :o But this was all BEFORE they started adding new songs... so maybe that has something to do with it? I haven't been able to pass Twins/Knock Out and Airplane on hard mode so I can't confirm nor deny this just yet :(

So the reason why they "refuse to be upgraded" is because you need to level up a card of the same member and rank.

 

 

Notice how I have a  rank C IGAB Sooyoung fully leveled to 5 stars, and I have an unequipped, rank C 5-star Mr.Mr. Sooyoung "material card" ready to be used. When you hit the green "upgrade" button, the only card that should show up is the Mr.Mr. Sooyoung card. Selecting that allows it to be used to level up the IGAB Sooyoung card to a rank B IGAB Sooyoung card.

yeah I know that I'm talking about getting to 5 stars.... if you have 5 he doesn't even let you try with the wrong card ^^;; but like I said around 300 C cards and maybe 1 or 2 stars on a B card. has nothing to do with the member and the song. like I tried to upgrade a minseok B overdose with a minseok B overdose and it failed.

I got a premium pack after clearing easy mode, but it nothing happened when I cleared normal mode 

 

I guess it has something to do with songs update too... oh, or maybe you have to get 3 stars on every songs? I think I haven't perfectly cleared all songs in normal mode, there are still couple or three songs with 2 stars.

 

I like the change in challenge mode, it used to be so frustrating trying to slightly beat your own record with the shuffled cards lol. And high-five, I also got stuck on Airplane and now Twins hard mode. Damn those songs!!!

I am playing this game for about a week now and I have a card of everyone except of Jessica. Why is the fact that I am just not getting a card of Jessica and her not being in SNSD so ironic, lol :'D

And I absolutely did not get a premium pack after clearing easy mode? Everything is three stars and I didn't get anything. T_T

Well I also didn't get premium pack when I finished easy mode or even normal mode, but I got it when I registered my email.

Thanks to OP for made this thread, I used to think we can only upgrade if we use same card same era. I learned something new

While you guys stuck in Twins or Airplane hard mode, I still stuck in Mr. Simple

Hello! Good to see someone created a thread for it! I have been playing this game for a 1month++ and im still stuck in silver I after nearly a month~ 

 

I cleared all the songs.  For some of the songs I ask my friends to help me clear it.

The hardest song for me is 'Dream' by tvxq. I only cleared this song after being stuck on it for a week. 

 

Maybe you should also list down sm artistes that also play this game and their usernick in the game?

Any idea how to power up S cards? - like what cards should I use to power up S cards? I've wasted a lot of cards to power up my pathetic set of cards , and I don't want to use real money on the game as I don't usually play a game for long periods of time. TT

I've selected chanyeol's pic but for some reason it's not working 

I keep pressing the select button but it's not doing anything..

 

edit: I've tested it and it won't let me select any picture no matter who it is...and because I can't select I can't go further :/
