some people need to stop referring to everything gay related as "yaoi"

i swear to god that shit drives me insane and i see it so often. like do you know what fuckin yaoi even is? yaoi is a Japanese genre of fictional media focusing on male homosexual relationships. it's created by women for other women, which means it's NOT AN ACCURATE DEPICTION OF REAL GAY COUPLES. yaoi is basically heterosexual relationships depicted using 2 men and it's insulting how straight people always have to fucking plug-in gender roles onto everything

don't use "yaoi" to refer to gay things unless you're specifically talking about yaoi manga/anime or yaoi manga/anime related things. like, don't fuckin use that word when talking about real life. not only that but it makes you look like a fuckin weeb ass bitch with no sense of reality or reason

I like some of it as well

On the other hand, I've noticed that the stuff that's marketed towards gay men (at least in the west) tends to be ripped guys that manhandle each other and I'm into normal looking people that talk about their feelings. So then I tend to like the stuff that is outside of the yaoi tropes, but gets slapped with the label anyway (perhaps rightly so, since it's still not something made specifically for gay men). But it's just really irritating when people refer to two gay men together as a 'yaoi relationship' or gay pornos as 'yaoi porn'.

Agreed on the "yaoi relationship". As far as yaoi goes, I like Haru wo Daite Ita (way too much flowery talk about feelings, but there are no gender roles in it and the art is gorgeous) and Kaze no Yukue with its prequel Memories of the Future (the butch-femme difference is there, but as a whole it's quite realistic for yaoi romance).

Umm, it's like that in Asia as well...

People also need to stop referring to "Tops", "Bottoms", and "Vers" people as "Seme", "Uke", and "Seke". You can refer to anime characters as seme, uke, and seke, but do not apply that to real people.

Also if people are looking for yaoi depicts homosexual relationships realistically or close to it, you have a better chance with novels then manga, but sadly it's very rare for a yaoi novel to get translated.

I didn't really like Haru wo, it bores me for some reason and I really do not like the art. I loved Kaze no Yukue though!
