laiwingnang 85 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Share Posted October 13, 2014 I like pop music along with alot of other genres, it's just that, IMO, alot of the regular pop music is really monotonous just a basic piano or keyboard chord prog...not much surprise from beginning to end ..same goes for the EDM music.. seems like they aren't even taking their time putting in details and coming up with memorable intros like they used to... Mainland China music, IMO, seems to have made so much progress in the last 2 years...I used to think it's really behind the curve and sounded like 80s/70s cantopop sidetracks with basic prod...but nowadays the harmonies are more complex, more dynamics and rhythmic variation/groove in the music... Taiwan music has always been very basic on production, except maybe the lead singles for the biggest names.. but taiwan songwriters used to write very strong hooks....now, not really...
