Overall popularity? Obviously EXO. When your two most popular Chines members leave then your advancement into the Chinese market is basically screwed.

And both EXO and SNSD will be fine in Korea. Have you seen how anti-Jess and anti-LuKris K-netz are? Doubt their popularity would take a big hit tbh.

i think both got it really bad. one of SNSD's main and biggest selling points is their ~bond~ and that was irrevocably ruined with Jessica's departure. as for EXO, what happened will really ruin their chances in China, it happened to SJ-M and it will happen to EXO.

If you combine Kris's and Luhan's impact, it will surely surpass Jessica's. While Jessica had her fair amount of impact, EXO surely has it worse because many fans are already leaving, and now we only have those who are still strong and are able to endure all of the shit SM is throwing.

However, you should've included Ladies Code. They're the ones who had it worse.

I don't think it's worth saying all of SNSD's relationship was a lie. We just don't know what's the truth.

Anyway, I think Jessica leaving SM's breadwinner on messy terms is a terminal wound on SNSD's career. They have been around long enough that this is a catalyst to their demise.

EXO on the other hand was able to resurface without Kris, and I'd like to believe they can carefully bounce back from Luhan (even though it's clear who was valued more to their image). They have plenty of years left if everyone else stays filial. Think Super Junior.

Jessica.
For Kris, it was a surprise but most fans still support the group. For Luhan, fans already knew about Luhan's departure for awhile, they had chance to prepare for the hit. EXO-K sales better than EXO-M and the core members of EXO-M are still in, EXO is still young, they will be fine for sure.
With Jessica's case, the news came very unexpected and messily. She is probably the only idol who was forced out of her respective group so far regardless whatever reason. Snsd is a big name and the scandal shattered their OT9 image. The fandom devided heavily into Jessica vs. OT8. SNSD's passed their peak. They've been declining and this scandal just gives it a big push.

The Jessica issue with SNSD basically ruined their legacy. That's years and years of hit songs and hard work.

Exo is going to be fine in Korea. They're done in China but SM was basically just using Exo M as some sort of experiment or stepping stone to enter the Chinese market anyway (which is why Luhan said SM wasn't clear about their plans for the group's future).

SNSD. Because this whole 'indestructible' and 'soshibond' image they put out just looks like it's fabricated. They put that out there for SEVEN YEARS. EXO is still new in the grand scheme of things, so I don't think it will hurt them AS much. Fans will be sad, of course.
