Taylor Swift can't shake this award off.

The singer has been named the 2014 Billboard Woman of the Year -- the first artist to ever receive the honor twice.

"As one of the most influential artists of her generation, Taylor Swift has seen incredible success on the Billboard charts,†said Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media's Entertainment Group, which consists of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. "Over the course of her career, she’s charted 60 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 -- the most of any female artist since her debut in 2006. We are tremendously excited to be honoring her as the 2014 Billboard Woman of the Year for the second time."

The award goes to the female artist who "has shaped and inspired the music industry with her success, leadership and innovation over the past twelve months."

Taylor Swift is a seven-time Grammy winner, and is the best-selling digital music artist of all time. She's also the only female artist in music history (and just the fourth artist ever) to twice have an album hit the 1 million first-week sales figure (2010's Speak Now and 2012's Red). Swift made her latest chart headlines when her newest single, "Shake It Off," became her second Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, following "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

"On behalf of American Express, I would like to congratulate Taylor Swift on this incredible honor," said Deborah Curtis, vice president of entertainment and sports marketing at American Express. "We are proud to be a long-time partner of Taylor's and are thrilled for her continued success and well-deserved recognition as Billboard's Woman of the Year."

Swift will be feted at the 9th annual Billboard Women in Music Awards on Dec. 12 in New York City.

I don't get this.... there has been a few more female artists this year who have made more impact than her in the music industry. She released one single that went #1 for two weeks and that's it. Unless they chose her since her album is coming out soon also, more promo for her I suppose.

I mean, Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande, and Beyonce would have been a better choice....

Also, I thought Rihanna was the best selling digital music artist? That was the Navy's go to receipt when comparing her to other artists of her generation.

Y'all realize this is all promotional stuff right? there isn't really a board of people thinking about who was the most influential woman of the year.

Obviously they will select someone with following/impact so that they don't look stupid. I mean michael jackson forced practically forced the vma's to create the michael jackson video vanguard award and to award it to him the following year, because he was pissed madonna won the first vanguard award. It's all BS

Which would make more sense if they gave it to Ariana, Iggy, or Beyonce since they've been more talked about than Taylor this past year.

Taylor Swift slaying. Beyonce should re think her VMA performance as it is getting redundant and bland. If she keeps this type of performance where she does medleys of her hits, people are gonna grow tired of it.

Umm why would she need to rethink the VMAs when it's over? Oh and she's only done medleys of her own hits in a televised event a couple of times, and this one was more of a shortened version of the On The Run Tour. What else would she have performed? Someone else's songs?

As to why she received it for work over the last 12 months, I'm not sure.

However, whereas other artists come off as puppets, I really do Taylor as a true artist, and her success comes from her own work.

For example, why is Iggy popular? Fancy. Why is Fancy popular? Because of the chorus (written and performed by Charli)

This leads to Ariana Grande. Her songs are not bad. I just don't hear anything about her or her work that really stands out. She seems like a current buzz artist.

Beyonce is a major exception. I guess if I would have given it to anyone, it'd be her for 2014,

I really wish they wouldn't give these kinds of awards to such terrible role models...

what's wrong with taylor swift?

She's is a hypocrite and is chronically incapable of taking responsibility for her actions. Basically she's a child in a woman's body.

Yeah Beyonce and Katy Perry and Ariana Grande. But I wasn't implying Taylor Swift wasn't hypocritical I was just saying that using that excuse to hate her is ridiculous when everyone mentioned in this thread are hypocritical especially Katy Perry.

Unfortunately pop stars usually aren't very good role models.

Nahh, people think Beyonce is a hypocrite and people think she's a bad role model since she's considered a "slut" for shaking her ass on stage.

Ariana is apparently a bitch, so I guess she shouldn't be given the award also....

Katy Perry... hmmm... I guess she's the only one whose personality is close to a nun's so she should be given the title, even if she isn't the most talked about nor has had the biggest impact in the music industry this year.

I don't know why people expect musicians to be "good role models"....

Idk people expect female artist to be good remodels for young girls. Disney or teen bop shit forces it so much that when their artist breaks free they pull a Miley.
