For, they can use it to treat or prevent diseases that cause so much suffering so why not?

For. One of the general directions therapies are moving in is personalized medicine; in line with that, one key strategy being developed is reprogramming the patient's own cells into the desired type. (And transdifferentiation aside, there are also other options being explored. Human embryonic stem cells are only one source/one piece of the larger picture...so it's hardly fair for it to represent the whole field.) Regenerative medicine is or will be capable of resolving a lot of diseases for which we currently have no desirably effective alternatives.

 

I feel like the stem cell field is pretty misunderstood by the general public...just like how some think "chemicals" are bad.

I'm against embryonic stem cell treatment because I'm mainly pro-life but I don't see any thing wrong with stem cell research with other parts of the body.
