SilverLinings 22
The 80s is known as the Golden Age of Idols in Japan. Idols dominated all forms of media and gained massive mainstream appeal in this era. Numerous idols and wannabes debuted but Seiko and Akina were the hbic of them all. Their fashion, hairstyle, makeup, and even mannerisms were copied and admired by girls all over Japan. They also influenced modern Japanese pop culture as well as current female singers like Ayu. Seiko is known for classic feel good songs and ballads while Akina is known for being edgier and dark. So who do you prefer? Seiko, the eternal idol http://youtu.be/_qAgUbuUIcU Or The Utahime, Akina http://youtu.be/ulmMB-64df0 http://youtu.be/-oQofiR1TdM Personally, I love them both as they balance and contrast each other. Ogre Shrek 8,980
OP, why did you invert their names? It's Akina Nakamori and Seiko Matsuda, not the other way around. Anyway, Akina hands down. Seiko is too saccharine sweet for my taste. Besides these two, there were a host of others. The most famous must be Momoe Yamaguchi, but the most memorable (for me) is Yu Hayami:

Besides these two, there were a host of others. The most famous must be Momoe Yamaguchi, but the most memorable (for me) is Yu Hayami: To answer your first question, last names go first in Japan. I also love Yamaguchi Momoe. Akina's music was clearly styled after her. Hayami Yu rocks! This is my favourite song of hers.
Sad Party Queen 1,580
Akina http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcEF8z0c6dc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6rj_DEmtF8 But from that era there were so many singers I prefered over these 2, such as Takeuchi Mariya, Yuming, Yamaguchi Momoe. OP, why did you invert their names? It's Akina Nakamori and Seiko Matsuda, not the other way around. Doesn't really matter, either way is correct.
