I'm still not sure what exactly it's going to be all about but I've read it's going to be fully animated.

it feels surreal CS3 is coming out in Japan today. I caved in a month ago and just pre ordered it. First time I'm ever importing a JP game. No way in hell I can wait 1-2 years for the localization. lol might as well play through it than get spoiled. I'm still 70% through with Ys 8 so I'm not in a rush to get my copy but I hope I get it by the end of the week. Spoil me much, Falcom. <3

 

I looked at a few chapter 1 streams and I already saw an emotional moment that wrecked me with Sky feels and heard a remix of Silver Will. Damn, i've never been this hyped for a game before.

 

The op is by far the worst in the series though. I love the song but the syncing is lazy and tragic. 

 

 

 

 

It's just the OP but I feel a little triggered. All the previous OPs were hyped af. I guess I have to get used to full animation now. I'm going to miss the flash animation OPs.

did you see the recent interview where Falcom said that the story for the Trails series is only 60% done? I'm guessing a Calvard series is next after CS3. Hopefully they bring the Crossbell games over in the meantime. 

 

Do you understand japanese? I don't have too much problems avoiding spoilers fortunately.

 

yeah, I think there are going to be 2 more arcs before all of this is finally over

 

I hope Crossbell gets brought over too. Most people who've played it has it as the best arc so far. And the whole series feel incomplete without it. There's an English patch for Zero but I'm not sure if it's any good. There's also bot translation for Ao but it's obviously terrible. lol There's currently a new translation project for both, I think they're more than 50% done so I'll probably rely on that.

 

I can understand a lot if it's voiced but I can't read text which is the problem since Kiseki are text HEAVY games. I won't be able to talk to all towns and student NPCs which has always been a Kiseki tradition for me. And from what I've seen, the voicing is still very inconsistent. There are still moments where other characters have voice while Rean is mute. This have been an annoying issue in the Cold Steel arc. >.< I'm just going to rely on picking up keywords and context to understand. lol

After exam week, I finally had time to finish Chapter 1 of CS3. Started playing around 9 last night and when I finished, it was almost 4 in the morning. lmao whew, that was long.

 

early impressions

- the structure is similar to CS1 but things move quickly and there are so much more going on. Things have already escalated into a Kiseki-esque ending madness at the end of the chapter and it's only the first chapter!

 

- the combat is largely the same as ever but it's so much faster now and loading times are not a problem anymore. I love the addition of Brave Order. It adds more strategy, though some of them are a bit OP. lol the free battle camera is awesome! I love putting it overhead or sideways but I wish there was an option to set it there. It just goes back to default after every turn. :(

 

- i like the new characters a lot! At first, I was a bit salty they're there to replace the old class 7! At the same time, I was worried the old class 7's growth into badass senpai's would overshadow the new guys but that's not the case at all! Everyone had their moment to shine. <3 also, the interactions between characters from all three arcs as well as the new and old characters are so interesting and amusing! 

 

 - I was pleased how much of Sky played in the first chapter. I'm glad I played the Sky games, otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten the emotional impact it gave me. Characters from Sky have been name dropped. They were name dropped in CS2 too but I didn't know who they were at the time.

 

- I'm not really a big fan of the Break system. I think it dumbed down the first major boss fight. I usually play in Normal, but we'll see if I'm going have to switch up boss fights to Hard. 

 

- other than that, the only other thing i didn't really like is bonding events are back. I'm not really a big fan of "Choose-your-waifu" system in general. Ugh, I guess I'll never get the "further development" I wanted for Laura and Fie since mid CS1. :( Well, I'm still low-key hoping I get a bonding event with Tita though. Next time Rean sees Agate, he can be smug and like, "Sup, Agate? I bonded with your 'little sister' "

That's cool, I guess. You don't always see companies doing something like this. I suppose Falcom fans made a big enough deal about it. The fanbase isn't that big but they could be savage. I'm going to replay this again during the Winter break :D

I barely play it but the best thing about Akatsuki, other than putting your favorite characters in different arcs together in the same party, is the alternate outfits.

 

 

Renne looks amazing and I prefer this way more than her lolita outfit. I wish they make more of this. <3

Just finished Chapter 3 of CS3 and I think it's my favorite chapter of all Kiseki games I've played yet. The amount of epic stuff in the chapter and all the revelations! The new city and town in the chapter are amazing as well.

 

The ending to that chapter though... wtf... i'm in shock... I feel like I want to jump out the window. That's another "I did not see that coming" moment... i'm hoping that didn't really happen or i'm crying... there are still 2 more chapters and another polarizing and chaotic ending, apparently, to go. Idk how i'll survive this.

Aurelia is OP af.. lmao wtf... I breeze through everything in the fortress because of her. Aurelia + demon Rean + Sara's brave order... freaking hell... nobody, not even the hyped boss fight, stood a chance.

 

I was so disappointed Aurelia was barely in CS2 and you don't even fight her, but playing as her makes it all worth it. lmao

 

 

 

 

The glitches/freezes/bugs are a pain though... jrpg games have always been free of those for me since most major issues have been fixed by the time they get to the West. I've never encountered this many issues before. So far, the game crashed twice and it was annoying since there's no autosave. Also, the disappearing hair and the 'stuck-on-door/stairs' glitches... ugh

As a Star Wars fan, I was actually really looking forward to this. It looks amazing and it should be a significant improvement over the previous game.

 

Too bad, loot boxes and a progression system that screams "pay to win" (maybe "gamble to win" is more appropriate? ) are leaving such a sour taste... seriously, the loot box epidemic in western games is starting to really annoy me... I didn't care about them before and I simply ignored them. I do understand the reasons for micro transactions, but when they could give drastic gameplay advantages to players with too much $$$ to blow, it's very frustrating. >.<

 

they did say they'll work on it due to the negative feedback but I can't imagine anything major changing... i'm probably just going to wait before getting it :3

Thank goodness for this! Unless if there's licensing issues, idk why it's always so hard to put dual audio, especially Nintendo. Not bashing English VAs but Japanese VAs always give me more emotional impact, so this is somewhat important for me. Literally the first thing I do every time I play a Japanese based game is go to settings and hope they have dual audio. lol

I see a lot of people being salty about this and complaining that he's so out of place.

 

Uhhh, idk if they forgot but this is the same franchise where you get to fight bears, kangaroos, and dinosaurs, he's one of the most normal character in comparison.

Whew. I finally finished CS3 @ 111 hours. I got a true sense of pride and accomplishment. EA can never  Translating unvoiced lines were so headache inducing but other than that, it wasn't as bad as I thought, I was able to understand the whole thing for the most part. That ending though.... WTF, Falcom! That was just too cruel. Most heartless ending they've done yet. I want my tears back, Kondo. >.< 

 

I'm a bit disappointed since I came into the game thinking this will be the last one in the arc. And I can understand the frustrations of people, especially those who hates this arc. lol I do think it took Falcom FOREVER to even get going on Erebonia's Sept-Terrions. Other than that, it has everything I love about Kiseki. The characters interactions, world building and lore, in-depth and detailed NPCs (still the best NPCs out of all games tbh). And class VII's growth. OMFG. Gone are the days when they got their asses kicked in 50% of the main boss battles. I'm so proud. lmao Laura and Fie are still my queens but my least faves Gaius and Emma are climbing up my Class VII ranks. They slayed in this game. :3

 

My only real complaint with this game is the harem. It's borderline unbearable. I was able to tolerate it in CS1 and CS2, but they're just way too "in-your-face" throughout this game. I was hoping they'd stick to Rean/Alisa since they're obviously the canon pair. I thought Kurt/Juna would be a cute OTP too, but nahhhh, let's make Rean's students be attracted to him too. Honestly, it pissed me off. lol >.<

 

 

For the next game, I want a playable Rosine. I've seen a lot of people asking for this too. <3

It would make me less bitter for my flop Rosine = Red Moon Rose theory. :D

Most heartless ending? Omfg I want to play CSIII so much right now. when will they release it in English? And I thought csii

been though a lot of heartache in games for the past two months so I think I'm ready

 

Also finished LB main game. Loved it so much. It just really pulled my heart a lot and the twists and turns really just makes me think that it was going to drop but nope Jun Maeda really pulled it together. Great stuff. Will be playing ex later when it gets patch hopefully

 

it's more cruel than both CS1 and CS2's ending combined

 

so far, there's no announcement for release date yet but most people are predicting somewhere around Fall 2018 to early 2019

 

if XSEED does the translations again, I think they usually announce the release date a few months before it comes out, so who knows really

I just don't understand how EA screwed up with Battlefront so bad. I mean, it's Star Wars. All they needed to do was have Dice make a decent game w/o all the BS... it could have even been a "Star Wars Battlefield" and it would have been amazing. Fans are happy, EA still gets their $$$, everyone is happy w/o all the drama. Even without the microtransactions (for now anyway), the damage has already been done since the system was designed to encourage their purchase in the first place. 

 

It's a shame since I was actually looking forward for this game. :( I should have known EA will be EA. Despite all of this, I still want to at least give it a try at some point, but I'm probably not going to like it.

So I finally finished Ys 8 a few weeks ago despite the current state of the translations. And wow, that was a fantastic adventure. It's up there as one of my favorite games of the year. The gameplay was fun and addictive. I loved playing as everyone except Sahad and Gratika and that's because i'm just not into the heavy hitter type. As per usual with Falcom, all the NPCs have their own personalities and stories and I loved getting to know most of them. I didn't expect the story to be THAT deep. The ending was so beautiful and bittersweet. The ending feels like something out of Kiseki (w/o the cliffhangers). Dana is definitely one of my video game heroines now. She's awesome.

 

The translations weren't game breaking for me but I can understand if it ruined the game for others. I don't think the accuracy of the translations were the problem but some of the naming terms they used and the flow of conversations were just... ugh. At least they're making an effort to fix it. It's definitely worth another play again. 

 

 

YASS, my uni semester is finally over! I was going to get a job again but I'm so mentally and physically exhausted I'm just going to spend one month being unproductive playing games and catching up with anime. lmao

my game of the year / favorite games of the year :D

1. Nier Automata / Ys VIII

2. Trails of Cold Steel 3

3. Persona 5

4. Horizon Zero Dawn / Breath of the Wild (idk which one to go with so i'll just put both... lmao)

 

I still have Tokyo Xanadu to look forward to. I'm desperate to play Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but my brother has the Switch and I'm not getting it back until next year. >.< I'm not really into games like Mario but Odyssey looks fun so I want to try that as well.

 

Honestly, if you look past AAA games' recent obsession with implementing loot boxes, it's been an amazing year of games.

I started playing Jedi Academy again after a few years. I almost forgot how fun this chaotic mess of a game is. The mods really made this game amazing. I'm surprised there are still mods being made today. This is probably my favorite Star Wars game. :D

Another big FFXV update. Idk if I should jump back in to it again or wait for more content. I already planned to replay some of my favorite games this year after Tokyo Xanadu.

 

I've already downloaded the game again last week for whatever reason. The current file size of the game though... omfg... rip my memory space. </3

I'm currently in chapter 5 and i'm having a lot of fun with the game so far! The game is like a combination of Cold Steel 1 and Persona games with a real time combat. It has the modern school/city/town setting of Persona with the in depth characterization of student and town npcs and similar vibes to CS1.  

 

To be honest, I think the story is going to be hit or miss for most people. Personally, i'm enjoying it a lot! I'm loving a lot of the characters. They're a lot of fun. There are so many adorable and slice of life moments and events already. I also love how Aksys didn't filter out the curse words at all like so many JRPG games. There are A LOT of curse words in this game.  Also, there are a lot of hidden events in this game. So, make sure to use up all Friendship Shards (basically, socials links / bonding events), do the free dungeon each chapter (it's less than 10 minutes), and buy all room furniture you see and visit your room during Free Days if you don't want to miss out. ^^ 

 

I think gameplay has a bit of learning curve in the beginning but once I got used to the controls, I was able to string together some nice character switching + combos combinations, which was kind of satisfying. 

 

Idk the length of the game. It's around 40-50 hours from what i've seen. But based on the Boss Battle Viewer, I've only fought 4/14 main boss fights and i'm already @ 30 hours. But then again, like in CS games, I talk to ALL npcs in all areas of the map whenever possible and I spend way TOO MUCH time playing blades so i'm easily going to double the estimated completion time. XD

 

Most of the complaints I've read about the game are "it's too similar to Cold Steel," the usual "too anime." If you have no problems with those and if you're into anime/jrpg type of games games, you should have fun with the game. ^^

Haru was my favorite too. She's so amazing and elegant especially when she turns into "Noir."

I got the True Ending in Tokyo Xanadu and I almost wished I didn't. For me, Normal Ending >>> True Ending. It was beautiful and bittersweet but the True Ending turned it into some contrived BS. *bitter* >.< I'm just going to pretend the post-Last Chapter content are just extra content, alternate ending and that the Normal Ending is the "true" ending. The over-the-top heroic and friendship speeches made me facepalm sometimes, but it was very enjoyable and awesome overall. The plot twists were great! It took me a while to figure out White Shroud's identity and the story turned out completely different than I was expecting. 

 

Not quite on the same level as Persona 3 and Kiseki, but i love the characters. They're an adorable bunch. Not to mention, the game actually has their OTP priorities straight.  I thought it'd be another harem nonsense, but it's obvious who Kou's 2 legit potential romantic partners are. <3 I totally support all 3 of the game's intended pairings in the main cast. :D My faves are usually the likes of Asuka or Mitsuki, but I think my best girl is probably Rion. I found her moments the most enjoyable. Judging myself for betraying her for Haruna as my bias in SPiKA. 

 

My main complaint were the typos. I didn't mind some of the interesting "liberties" Aksys took with the dialogue, but the typos were so damn messy, especially in the later chapters. Geez, it was out of control.

Darn sounds like you had a blast with tokyo xandu really thought it was going to be another hit or miss xD.  I might have to binge it one day just a question where you mention typos, are they frequent and do you think it had hinder your expereince of the game?

 

EDIT: I might get hellblade setsuna soon since it's on steam sales and it seems to be a good game, has anyone played it? Would like some opinion on the game before deciding to or not buy it.

 

The first half of the game is okay but they happen more frequently in the later chapters. >.< They didn't necessarily hinder my experience but they are VERY annoying. Most of them consist of incorrect pronouns, missing commas and periods, mixing up names, errors and inconsistencies regarding certain characters' profile and info, and text box that stretched across the screen. lmao it's messy. It's easy to figure out what they meant to say though that's why i'm just kind of "ehhh, whatever" about it but I don't blame people if their experience were hindered because of it. :3

 

I haven't played it yet but I heard it's a must-get for people who are into deep psychological stuff. I heard the combat and gameplay is pretty good too. It's a very short game though as it was released by an indie developer (I think) for half the AAA price.

Geez. I don't mind DLC characters but 50% of the roster are DLC?! That's almost as awful as modern day online FPS games. 

 

Tbh, I'm only in it for RWBY and Persona 4 waifus. They should have made all 4 of RWBY playable and maybe a few characters like Crow and Cinder as DLCs. >.< At least, Yukiko is available. Now, just give me Naoto and Rise and I'll be happy. Hopefully, I can get them for a reasonable price w/o having to package them together with characters I don't care about to inflate the price. lol

MHW is pretty awesome. It's actually the first MH game I've played. I still have to finish Bloodborne too. It's such an addictive, challenging game but I need to "git gud." I just keep dying over and over again. lmao I'm not really the most hardcore player out there. 

 

I'm only playing around 5-8 hours per week because of my classes, so it's probably going to take me forever to finish

So far, I only took 1 anja down. That was a fun fight with me constantly trying to lure it to open spaces since it's hell trying to fight that thing in narrow spaces, which I found out the hard way. :( I was one hit away from my 3rd faint but I somehow managed. :D

 

I was very confident coming into that quest too since I sort of over grinded and I was hunting down the quest monsters prior to the anja like they were nothing but I got a reality check.

 

Also, the turf wars are glorious. I just witnessed the rathalos downing a tobi and literally spammed fireballs. lmao
