I finished V's story line and it didn't really help how I felt about it at all lol. III was good too, but II has always been my go to when playing a game from the series 

 

Despite having the gamecube version of II I never really used Link oddly enough lol

Yeah, the story was meh to me, lol, and yes!!! III was so damn good! and when I had the gamecube version, I used to stay playing cassandra, talim, maxi, kilik, xianghua, and yunsung~     I only played Link like one time when I had it.

Another big FFXV update. Idk if I should jump back in to it again or wait for more content. I already planned to replay some of my favorite games this year after Tokyo Xanadu.

 

I've already downloaded the game again last week for whatever reason. The current file size of the game though... omfg... rip my memory space. </3

Started playing doki doki literature club, shit is disturbing

 

Literally played it like 2 days ago.

Game was an utter boredom fest for a good hour or two, mainly because I absolutely don't vibe nor relate to the Dating Sims genre and narrative design. But then, it got weird as hell, suddenly became incredibly interesting and got me hooked until the very end. It's a very nice twist on Dating Sims I think, probably the only kind I like in this subgenre. Kinda reminded me of Puella Magi Madoka Magica in the way it takes on a seemingly cute and very coded genre, but suddenly twists it to the moon and back, filling it with cynicism and psychological horror and meta stuff.

I still had to force myself to push through those 1/2 hours of utter boredom at the start though, but it was totally worth it.

mte, i was about to borderline quit first 2hrs , i was like ''idc what the twist is or who is a serial killer, this game is putting me to sleep''. But then i told myself there must be a reason this game is so loved. Did you know about all the hidden shit in the game's folder files? its a whole other game, plus the story plays out differently if *spoiler alert, you have been warned if u didnt play* you delete monika or sayori midgame

Persona 5 followed by Nier Automata

Zelda is my no 1 by far. Other then that, not too many stood out for me this year, maybe Shadowverse since I like card games.

 

Horizon is very overrated imo and Persona 5 overall was a letdown for me for a number of reasons but mostly cuz it dragged on way too long and did not have as much events as 4.

 

Yakuza 0 was fun too but gameplay was too repetitive.

 

If we can count older games, I greatly enjoyed going through the Kingdom Hearts collection and can't wait for 3 and One Piece Burning Blood was hella fun if unbalanced.

I agree on Zelda though I've read a lot of gamers saying Cuphead should be goty... still haven't tried it myself.

haven't played many games released this year, i thin i've played 4 games (2 of them are remasterd versions of old ones  )

Nier automata still is my goty. Emotional roller-coaster and amazing game play. Been so immerse to it. Second would be Mario odyssey.

I'm currently in chapter 5 and i'm having a lot of fun with the game so far! The game is like a combination of Cold Steel 1 and Persona games with a real time combat. It has the modern school/city/town setting of Persona with the in depth characterization of student and town npcs and similar vibes to CS1.  

 

To be honest, I think the story is going to be hit or miss for most people. Personally, i'm enjoying it a lot! I'm loving a lot of the characters. They're a lot of fun. There are so many adorable and slice of life moments and events already. I also love how Aksys didn't filter out the curse words at all like so many JRPG games. There are A LOT of curse words in this game.  Also, there are a lot of hidden events in this game. So, make sure to use up all Friendship Shards (basically, socials links / bonding events), do the free dungeon each chapter (it's less than 10 minutes), and buy all room furniture you see and visit your room during Free Days if you don't want to miss out. ^^ 

 

I think gameplay has a bit of learning curve in the beginning but once I got used to the controls, I was able to string together some nice character switching + combos combinations, which was kind of satisfying. 

 

Idk the length of the game. It's around 40-50 hours from what i've seen. But based on the Boss Battle Viewer, I've only fought 4/14 main boss fights and i'm already @ 30 hours. But then again, like in CS games, I talk to ALL npcs in all areas of the map whenever possible and I spend way TOO MUCH time playing blades so i'm easily going to double the estimated completion time. XD

 

Most of the complaints I've read about the game are "it's too similar to Cold Steel," the usual "too anime." If you have no problems with those and if you're into anime/jrpg type of games games, you should have fun with the game. ^^

My GOTY is Wolfenstein 2. I never played the first one but this edition got me hooked the first 5 mins into the game.

i think there wasn't much time for everything tho, like some little tasks took the whole afternoon/evening (or the whole day in sundays)

it deserves the Best RPG award they received

Haru was my favorite too. She's so amazing and elegant especially when she turns into "Noir."

I got the True Ending in Tokyo Xanadu and I almost wished I didn't. For me, Normal Ending >>> True Ending. It was beautiful and bittersweet but the True Ending turned it into some contrived BS. *bitter* >.< I'm just going to pretend the post-Last Chapter content are just extra content, alternate ending and that the Normal Ending is the "true" ending. The over-the-top heroic and friendship speeches made me facepalm sometimes, but it was very enjoyable and awesome overall. The plot twists were great! It took me a while to figure out White Shroud's identity and the story turned out completely different than I was expecting. 

 

Not quite on the same level as Persona 3 and Kiseki, but i love the characters. They're an adorable bunch. Not to mention, the game actually has their OTP priorities straight.  I thought it'd be another harem nonsense, but it's obvious who Kou's 2 legit potential romantic partners are. <3 I totally support all 3 of the game's intended pairings in the main cast. :D My faves are usually the likes of Asuka or Mitsuki, but I think my best girl is probably Rion. I found her moments the most enjoyable. Judging myself for betraying her for Haruna as my bias in SPiKA. 

 

My main complaint were the typos. I didn't mind some of the interesting "liberties" Aksys took with the dialogue, but the typos were so damn messy, especially in the later chapters. Geez, it was out of control.
