I played the demo of Blue Dragon but never the full game. Heard it was good but never got a chance to play it. 

 

haha that's fine if you like Gears. I played the first 2. I'm just not a fan of the single player campaigns of multiplayer focused shooters. None of them are good to me because they don't make me care about the players or the story. Playing through them co-op is kinda fun but that's because you're playing with friends. Doesn't help that a lot of the bosses in Gears are "hey shoot this orange spot on the boss". 

 

The mp of the game is also just a shotgun-fest. People rolling around with active reloaded shotguns or sniping. That's the entire mp of Gears. Horde i just don't like. 

 

edit: It's also just visually ugly to me. I don't like the art. But that's just my preferences. 

You have to play blue dragon mate. It soooooooo gooood    actually my very first RPG game that my dad introduced me too

 

Well that's fine if you dislike it like that. But the story from the first game, where Dom tries to find his wife to some emotional backlash and heartache along the way. Even seeing how Marcus and Delta squad progress not just as individuals but as a team throughout the three games was something that touched me deeply. I really disliked the multiplayer feature. Yeah it was aright at the time but I mostly just focused it on the story. By the third game it got dry really fast Cried so hard during one part of the game with my friends who played online, me and my bro and 2 other of my firends played through it together and it was a blast , first two was good. Especially the first game. I try the first game if I was you. When gears came out it was one of the most unique games out there

Is it just me but the story of The legend of heroes Trils of cold steel, he way it's written is phenomenal. I just got up to the second dungeon (beside the school wharehouse) and the connection and story. I think I love Fie a lot more during this chapter.

You sound so surprised. I assume you never played the Trails in the Sky games? Trails in the Sky is fucking fantastic. FC and SC combine to make one of my favorite jrpgs ever. I even debate whether or not it dethrones FF6 as my favorite of all time. That's how much i love it. Cold Steel has the same type of slow build up storytelling and great world building. I still wish i played it on Hard tho but whatever. 

 

Second dungeon in Trista? You probably passed me then. I'm on chapter 5 and about to leave on the field study. I'm putting the game down for a week or 2 though. Needed a little break. Talking to everyone in the day time, the evening, and after every story moment gets a little tiring lol. It's the only play the play Trails tho!

I just finished that chapter an hour ago Will hopefully be finishing it up this week or next. Placed it on hold for the entire week, last week so I am just getting back to it.

Both games are available for pc on steam and gog also. Though i heard they are having some licensing issues right now so they might have temporarily been taken down, on psn too. Not sure.

 

I almost never use Machias lol. I don't like him as a character and he's not that useful either.

Well for me I actually like his character and much more when he said about the person closed to him. though that could be just me, it happened at dragon age 1 where everyone loves Alistor apart from myself XD. I mean I understand why he has a huge grudge and I also understand his reasons but anyway I might just be the only one /:

His backstory was pretty good and really tragic. Doesn't mean he can be a dick and generalize like that though, especially since he's from a rich and powerful family himself. I understand why he is the way he is, but it's still annoying and dumb of him, He knows it too haha. 

 

Also just a warning that the ending might be really long. So don't make the same mistake i did in Trails FC and decide "i'm gonna beat the game tonight! I just need to do the last dungeon and i'm done!!" Like 5 hours later until credits rolled at 2am 

Well we can have our opinion on the matter. but  I feel so sorry for him though    his past just haunted him so it was to be expected just how much it could even affect him.But he is not even a noble he's a commoner, he only managed to be rich all because of his father's hard work to become what he is now. Plus let's not forget he did say he did not see himself as one of the noble but rather live in the old place like he did beforehand.  I did not like him at first but with the way it is. I can't help but feel a bit sorry for the guy and how he ended up. At least for me. He seems so relatable . 

 

Well I don't really go to sleep until 2:30 or even 3      I just finished the piratical exam on chapter 5 field study time

The cast looks cool although seems to be somewhat recycling past characters but not as much D2, I think I can already predict who will die early though

Some of these characters had been said before if I'm right. Oh gosh I thought I saw some old monokumas from the spin off game. The Siren one and I thought Big Bang Monokuma was bad enough  the box art OOOHHHHHHHHH MY     I want the game so badly

So even the antagonists of Trails of Cold steel  have a pre story onto why they are committing their own. I feel sorry for at least one of them  

 V, he lost everything goodness and his only hope was C and  the others. Though I'm not defending him but he and his crew really just have a deep impact and their not nesscary evil at all     

Well chapter 6 is finished 

 

I'm so picking up the second game when it drops later this  year.

Picked Cold Steel up again after a week break. Just finished chapter 5. Laura is stupid broken lol. She had higher strength stat than Sara and was doing ridiculous damage. Tauros + Domination + stacking Str increasing quarts = OP

Just putting this out there but I think chapter 6 is the hardest chapter there is. Even on easy I actually almost just almost lost :( barely even made it OTL

I've wiped a couple of times before on bosses. Usually just changing my strategy is enough to make it an easy win on later attempts though. If necessary i stop being stubborn and allow myself to use S-breaks but i try not to use them.

The difficulty spike is just insane on the later part of the chapter. I just mostly use the s craft and finish it of but when you have enemies with over 60k HP. Just what o.o I'm just lucky I have Elliot + Emma who are my healers. EP cut, boosting EP amount and efficiently just saved my bum XD

 

than again this is just how I play it. And even seymour third battle in ffx got me to rage quit last year and only managed to beat it after my friend helped me out OTL

omg no. God no. Why must the rest of class 7 have to risk their life against the main antoginst of the game to save Rean. It hurts. It just hurts. My feelings with Alisa (max out bond, had her to do the two events and danced with her) just got shattered. I would rather had seen Rean fight to the last breath but to see Machis, Jusis Gausis, Elliot, Alisa, Lura, Fie, Muliuem, Emma and the rest to be risking their own for Dean. Just no :( and that plot twists. J hate you crow. I hate you. For all the memory that we shared. For the moments. I adored that guy. But than he turns out to be C JUST NO.

 

 

Well that confirms one thing. I need the second game.

Didn't look at the spoiler but yea i heard the Cold Steel cliffhanger is even worse than Sky FC's cliffhanger and that one was already aksdjfkldsjfksjdalfjksdljf WTF WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. 

 

I wonder what Cold Steel 3 is gonna be like though. Sky FC and SC are one story and the third game is like a side story that supposedly leads into the two games that takes place in Crossbell.  I have the limited edition for CS and it comes in a box to eventually put CS2 in also. So 3 probably wasn't planned from the beginning. Is CS3 going to be the same as Sky and lead into something else or is it an actual trilogy? Won't be out for years so won't find out in a while. 

 

Just finished practical exam in ch6 last night. Not sure when the difficulty spike happens but

 

 

I one shot Sara just to see if i could lol. Fight started and my 3 consecutive turns went: buff str, buff str, S-craft with Laura. Fight over hahaha. That's like 22-24K i think is what her HP was. 

 

 

Maybe the field study is where the spike happens though. 

Honestly it never even occurred to me that, that could happen in the end, was just mind blown by it.Oh lol that fight was way too easy for me to complete XD and nah you haven't seen the spike of it. Even the final boss battle killed my entire party OTL.I switched out the characters who were dying but the boss just wipes my team. Had to lower the difficulty after easy just to beat it :( 

 

Apparently there will be a huge sale in UK retailers for the og model of the PS4 with a game packed in. £150 for the 500gb model, and £179 for the 1TB model. I think I'm going to finally cave in at that price. I was going to wait for Black Friday, but oh well.

£150 O.O I remembered when I had to buy it for £250 back a few years ago.

Going with the base ps4 is probably the right way to go if the deal is that good. Supposedly, after people have spent more time with it, the Pro might not do anything for you if you're on 1080p. Not by default at least. It sounds like you have to rely on the devs to put in extra work and make more settings. Like Tomb Raider has multiple settings you can choose from. I think they have 3: up-res'd to 4k, 1080p locked at 30 fps, and 1080p with some graphical things turned off to get 40-60 fps. Some devs won't bother doing that. CD Projekt Red already said they're not gonna do a patch for Witcher 3 for the Pro.

 

I still don't have a ps4 and i'll probably just go with whatever's cheapest whenever i finally get one. I'm completely fine with Persona 5 on ps3. Those screenshot comparisons looked the same to me. And 30 fps is completely fine for a menu driven turn based jrpg.

 

 

I'm so glad you like the game though! The Trails games are so huge and i've read about the hell Xseed went through localizing the massive scripts for the Sky series. But the series is still so niche, even within the jrpg fanbase. I love Trails series and hope more people try it and support it so we keep getting more.

I know that the division also have that setting where you can adjust the graphics on the console's. Right now I just hope that the ps4 slim would be what most developers aim for. It doesn't hinder the original ps4 graphics and just updates it with the pro.

 

Also I am so getting the trails in the sky (when it goes on sale) I just wonder how the steam control would be /:

Just finished Cold Steel (literally like 10 minutes ago). Some mixed feelings about the end and last chapter in general and need to get it out lol. Long rambling thoughts and semi-ranting. Feel free to ignore~

 

 

 

That final chapter kept dragging on and on omg. I expected a long chapter but it felt so weird. Like it didn't have a focused direction it was leading to. I don't think the school festival was handled right. I mean it was fun and all but it messed with the flow. The back and forth between festival stuff and serious story stuff was so weird with the off pacing and the tonal shifts. The scene in front of the old school house and the class begging to not cancel the festival because they worked so hard and want to perform was stupid. There's a dangerous dungeon that's all light up and acting weird. You're talking about not being able to perform over the safety of everyone on campus and the town that's attached to it?!!

 

Dungeon itself was cool. Best dungeon in the game probably. It was long and felt epic. Some of the enemies in there took a while to fight and felt like mini-bosses but it was fine. Boss looked cool but it was so out of place. You're fighting some shadow demon in the astral world like it's Berserk or something. There was very little spiritual/supernatural stuff hinted at besides Emma and her secret magic stuff. Also she's a dumb bitch for watching everybody open up throughout the game and she never gives important information that could keep them safe or aware of how dangerous things are.

 

The whole Chancellor announcement scene was good. I understand now why i saw people calling Crow "Lelouch" lol. I can't hate on giant fighting mechs but it's also weird for the series. I'm not sure how well it fits the continuity of the franchise as a whole. I assume the aim is to bring all the series together for a big fight against a common enemy but this means everybody's gonna have mechs now or what? Liberal didn't have any mechs in the Sky games. The Crossbell games probably didn't either. Nobody can fight against it unless they build mechs too. It might change the franchise in that direction and that's what i'm worried about.

 

Crow being C kinda caught me off guard but i did wonder what his background was since they never discussed it. The reveal that got me more was Sharon being a former Ouroboros member. Figured she was a former army, bracer, or jaeger member or something instead. I never thought she would be Ouroboros. She's definitely going to be playing a bigger part in the story going forward after that reveal.

 

I did not like the ending either. It was too abrupt. Maybe the pacing of the chapter hurt it for me idk. The cliffhanger didn't affect me as much as Sky FC's cliffhanger. Storywise this one is more important to the big picture of Cold Steel's story. But Sky FC's cliffhanger hit me so much more. It was more personal and emotional. At CS's cliffhanger i was: lol that's it? ok. At Sky FC's cliffhanger i was: WHAT? WHY? WHAT? WHY WOULD YOU? THE FUCK IS GOING ON?? WHY? T____T

 

Cold Steel feels more Tales-ish and i don't really like that change. Like the sexual humor and jokes. Fie being kinda the emotionless loli character. Just the general vibe of it feels more like Tales than Sky and Persona. Not quite as bad as Tales but it's almost there.

They also need to improve the bonding events. Make them more important. You don't really learn more about the characters like Social Links because those happen through the story. And you don't really get much benefits from raising the levels. I got the option to dance with Alisa at the bonfire but that's about it.

 

I still like the game a lot but i'd still put Trails in the Sky above it.It improves some stuff but also some things are better in Sky. I'll stop there before i get more in detail trying to compare them lol.

 

 

 

Will probably write a review for the review thread later because i usually do one for the longer games i play. 105 hours was my clear time btw~

By any chance are you picking up cold steel 2? Here I thought cold steel 1 was very very good.

Oh definitely. I liked it a lot. I might just sound like i hated it when i was complaining about a lot of stuff though lol. After playing 3 games in the Trails series, i honestly think it's the best new jrpg franchise in the last decade (not counting the Souls games as jrpgs). And if the series plays out how i think it will, it could possibly be the best ever.

 

It's already out in north america but i'm low on funds and probably won't be able to pick it up for a while. After putting 100 hours into CS1, i don't really want to jump right into another one anyway. Trails in the Sky Third is coming out next year too so i have to make sure to not fall behind haha.

oh? O.o. he he. I thought you actually did dislike it. OTL. I'm just hoping for a very good sequel to the three games. And I'll hold you to that XD.

 

Why do I have to wait an extra month and few weeks. It's like just one month and 2 weeks until it us out over here I've preordered and made sure to have nothing to do but that game when it comes out ;) though steins gate zero got pushed back the same amount of days so I'll have them both to finish of by the end of this year

 

And the third game is coming out next year? Wouldn't that just be the Japan version and then another year for the English?

But all the mid-evolutions are solid, imo~ I spend the least time with the mid-evos though, I can't wait to see the final ones.

 

 

 

After the kinda disappointing anime, I got the urge to 100% DR1, I already completed the game, but needed to 100% school mode, I did that last week and it made me wanna replay the game in full again, I already have 1 on Steam and 2 on PSTV, but if this has some extra stuff or a cool special edition, I might just buy it again =} cause I'm a sucker for this franchise.

Spoilers for the anime and DR1 + DR2 games incoming~

 

Kirigiri didn't die though, Chiaki's death was sad, but I don't like how every other character in DR2 got the shaft in the despair arc, it was hyped up as how they became the ultimate despair, but they just ended being the side-characters to their own anime, the Future Foundation members were the ones who got the spotlight in that anime and the DR2 cast were reduced to punchlines, Chiaki and Imposter were the only characters with any sort of spotlight, but I'll be honest, I always thought Chiaki was a bit bland, her death was really sad though. I also don't like the idea that they became ultimate despairs through brain-washing.

 

Also, Tengan's plan was stupid and made no sense, sooo dumb.

 

Saying that though, my main hope for this series were that the DR1 survivors would survive and they did, even though I was expecting at least one of them to die and was just praying it wasn't Asahina, I mean, Asahina's fake death was pretty cheap and if it was a non DR1 I'd think it was stupid, and I do, but I really like Asahina and the DR1 cast anyway, so I'll just accept it and be happy, same with the DR2 cast, I don't like how they all came back unharmed and everything was okay, BUTTT Best girl Mahiru is back so I'm happy with that, I can't say I hated the show mainly cause I'm so attached to the characters but if I wasn't then I would think it was just a huge waste of time rather than a just little underwhelming, but this ain't the anime thread, so I'll just stop here, it's great that you like it though! It just wasn't for me~

 

I want this so badly. It the same price as the game (exchange rate).... I'm not going to get my hope up though.
