About 2 more weeks until the unveiling of Microsoft's next-gen console...

 

I kinda hate the fact that there are so many gamers who like K-pop... but they like different games than I do. :sad: /crey

Also i was going to make a thread about it but i guess i could just ask in here. Do many of you guys play Shin Megami Tensei? maybe you could recommend some? i've only heard good things about the series but i don't know where to start

So I recently just got a PS3 (my first console in like... 8 years or so..)

 

I just finished FFXIII (I loved it. boohoo) and Uncharted and I'm planning to buy a new game this Sunday

 

Any suggestions? I want to buy FFXIII-2 but I'm having second thoughts. What game should I buy?

 

I enjoyed ff13 as well but found ff13-2 basic. Have you heard of Ni No Kuni? it got a lot of good reviews, however i have yet to finish it. Kinda got busy with studying & playing 3DS

Really? Critics say everything got improved and the only downfall was only having 2 characters (I loved Fang so much  :sad: )

 

I heard of Ni No Kuni but they said it's kinda turn-based and pokemon-ish. I'm not that fond of those 2 characteristics. D: Thinking of Tomb Raider but it's still fairly new and knowing the cheapskate inside of me... I'd wait atleast 3 months for the price to go down 

 

Searched for jRPGs and is Eternal Sonata and Resonance of Fate good? Gameplay-wise?

 

I hated how it only had 2 characters. I loved fang too! I used her in my group hehe. You might enjoy it, but Sarah and Noel do nothing for me. Plus the whole time travel thing was just...no. Now Radiant Historia is a game that does time travel well, that's on DS though. Yeah i guess that's fair about Ni No Kuni. I'm not sure about those other games, i've been looking for good jrpgs for the PS3 for a long time now. Hopefully someone else here can give their opinion of them

Lol first of all Ni no Kuni Is NOT turn based. and people compare it to pokemon because you can capture creatures. I dislike Pokemon but Loved Ni no Kuni. My only problem with the game is that it holds your hand too much.

Also you can play the demo on the PS3 for free.

 

 

As for recs...Depends on what type of game you usually like and what games you have played on steam or PC.... I got my First PS3 Summer of last year and uncharted 3 was one of the first games I got as well.

 

For starters 

 

If you like RPG's or just wanna try something amazing and very challenging then get Dark Souls(its also on PC tho)..I wasn't too sure about getting it at first but when I did I never looked back lol. Prob my fav game of all time..Lol I couldn't praise this game enough tbh. 

Dragons dogma is another amazing RPG...Great combat system especially. Only con is travelling but if you can look past that then you are golden.

If you want a Tactical RPG then get Valkyria Chronicles

If you want a near perfect Open world Wild west game then get Read Dead Redemption 

If you want a want a heavy story game with minimal gameplay then get Heavy Rain or the the walking dead Telltale game (Based alot more on comic than the TV show)

 

and I haven't played them yet but Star Ocean:The last hope and enternal sonta seems like good games...Will prob pick then up 2morrow. 

 

as for JRPGS in general on the PS3 i dunno. They are usually better on Nintendo systems nowadays. Just look at the triforce of great JRPGS released recently on wii...which is a dead console....Xenoblade chronicles, Last story, pandoras tower.

I had Fang and Vanille on my main party   Seeing 2 favorite characters of mine dine well technically they didn't is just too much for me

 

Haha i couldn't stand Vanille! i'm Australian and i couldn't even stand her voice. Hope was my medic/ravager/synergist

Haha! That was my very first experience with Minecraft too... like back in 2009 or w/e when it was still in Alpha stage on PC. I didn't know what to do so I didn't care to continue playing it... but then when the 360 ver came out last year I was really excited to try it out again cause it had been released officially and all on PC already but I was still a little skeptical (plus I'm more of a console gamer tbh)... And it was fun. ^^ Been addicted ever since.

 

 

Too many to name... I'll just say that my favorite series of all time is the Bioshock series and the only game I play regularly nowadays is Minecraft.

 

Oh ok that's a FPS right? I haven't played minecraft in so long. All i ever did in that game was find diamonds, find villages and build nice houses lol

Eugh, Vanille was so annoying -.- Her accent kept on flopping about the place and she made so many moans..

 

I think my post-game party was Lightning/Fang/Hope

 

 

 

 

Metal Gear Rising is such an amazing game~

I recommend it to anyone into games like Bayonetta.

yea i'm not sure how much people know about the series, even rpg fans.

 

i've only played one and two though. well i played about 10 hours of 3 but couldn't really get into that one.

 

Haha i meant in general. Yeah it seems pretty unknown, which is upsetting because it's so amazing. I haven't played the 3rd one as it was never released in PAL regions unfortunately

I hate FFXII-2's monster system... It made things a lot more complicated than before 

 

They should've just sticked with the 3-character party and made those adornments affect the characters

in regards to FF i'll probably be skipping Lightning Returns, i just have no interest in 13 anymore

Apparently ff13-2 is getting re-released in Japan 

With additional content like all the DLC

Square-Enix and their practices..........................but then again it makes you question them when they say titles like Tomb Raider that can sell 3.4 million and is considered a flop.

 

 

Though they are still not on the level of EA or Capcom bad yet.

Lol Square Enix. Ah well they're announcing a new Final Fantasy title at E3 aren't they. I wonder what that will do for them, seeing as how damaged the name is now

SE has screwed themselves over because they can't make games anymore. FF13 may have sold decently but fan feedback was mostly negative. All their other games have failed, and so they have resorted to publishing games in the meantime. Time will tell if SE can get their heads outta the water because they are sitting on some major IP's that have been in the back burner and people would love to play. The chrono series comes to mind, I would love another chrono game.

 

I really don't understand why they keep pushing 13 though. Let everyone forget about it and move onto better things. I agree with what you said about the chrono series, I was actually thinking about buying Chrono Trigger on DS recently actually. I may not like Kingdom Hearts myself but I know it has a lot of dedicated fans, they should of pushed for KH3 instead of FF13-2 & Lightning Returns ugh.

I'm probably way off the mark, but I thought it was to do with them milking the engine it was built on? They wanted to milk it as much as they could to make up for how long it took to make?

was planning on waiting in case they come out with cool bundles for Pokemon X&Y. 

 

They will most definitely come out with bundles for Pokemon. It would be cool to get the X bundle, i'm feeling jealous just thinking about it
