This gaming year for me has been amazing! I feel so blessed Persona 5 and Nier Automata came out on the same year.  These 2 games are already some of my favorite games and I'm not even halfway done with both games lol (like, since it's my first time playing a Drakengard/Nier game, I thought I finished Nier and I was kind of disappointed since I wanted more and there were a lot of unanswered mysteries but then I found out there are 5 total playthroughs to get the whole story... I should have gotten the game earlier so now I have to somehow juggle between the 2 games. x_x).

 

 

I kind of lost my interest in gaming in recent years and I just usually played Overwatch with my brother here and there but I immediately got hooked and addicted as soon as I started playing these 2. Not to mention, the OST in both games are fucking killers. <3 I can't remember the last time I spent this many hours playing games.

Omg, so getting it again. This game was so good

 

OMFG! I love this game and the sequel too. The game has my favorite random NPCs ever... like, I never cared over a bunch of random NPCs that are irrelevant to the story as much as this one. And I can still remember those heart stabbing and emotional plot twists.

Nier automata shouldn't take that long to complete after all you're done one ending, while Persona 5 on the other hand will take way over 70 hours of your life xD

You're talking about Crow right for the plot twist and Rean's own father?

Yeah, the other playthroughs should be quicker but I got some of those troll endings since I was messing around too much at the start of playthrough B which then required me starting over again every time I flopped. I didn't even get mad or frustrated about it. Rather, I found it amusing. 

 

And I think I'll probably go over 100 hours on my first Persona 5 playthrough since I already have 18 hours and I'm still in the middle of May. lmao

 

CS2 spoilers

 

 

The ending of CS2 is probably the craziest video game moment I've ever witnessed

 

Yeah. From everything that happened with Crow to the "I am your father"-esque revelation. I felt the same thing Rean did and I really hated the chancellor the moment he showed up since like Crow's efforts was basically all for nothing... but then the whole revelation thing happened... like, who am I supposed to feel? Who are the real enemies?! Who am I supposed to hate?! lmao

 

I wasn't surprised about the C = Crow thing since I've always been suspicious of him in the first game but I was genuinely shocked about the father thing... and I can't believe I was since there were big clues about it throughout the games

 

And to top it all off, they played that ending right away with the main cast and their kiddie pictures, Rean and his father in the snow, Crow staring at the sunset, and the 50 mira

Just finished ending E of Nier Automata. My emotions are wrecked. I love the game! <3 First game to have made me think deeply about stuff since playing The Last of Us and Trails of Cold Steel 2... and I'm probably going to be thinking about it for a while. I still plan on replaying the game again and finishing the side quests I skipped over in the summer. Most of them are annoying fetch quests but I find the story behind them interesting so I don't want to miss out on anything. There were also side quests that were somewhat tied in with the main story too. 

 

I'm past 50 hours in Persona 5 and about to enter September. People weren't kidding when they said this game will steal my life. I'm having the time of my life with this game right now! Thank god I finished all my college projects and presentations and there's still 4 weeks before finals. :D

can I ask a game player: how long does a session last? 

 

I'm talking about a game like Overwatch, I'm unfamiliar with all things game-related, but I'm curious how much time does one player need?

 

Around 20 minutes for me. Though, it usually depends on how i'm doing. lol If i'm doing well in a match, I would keep playing but if i'm not, I'd rage quit for the day. I'm not really into FPS and online gaming in general though. But my brother can play Overwatch for hours.

LMAO! Pancake-kun got rekt'd. I knew it was going to be him since Atlus made it too obvious anyway (promotional posters and videos). But I forgot about the whole deal about pancakes since it's been a few in-game months ago. Thank god for Morgana's amazing memory.

I finally finished P5 and now I feel empty. :3

 

Being forced to go to sleep was the most annoying thing in the game for me. But I'm doing a NG+ after my final exams, so whatever. I was a little bit disappointed by the social events... I wished they made Christmas and New Year social events at the very least... To be frank, I just want more. lol It's kind of weird saying that after 115 hours. Other than those, the ultimate personas (which I thought were tragic especially Haru and Makoto >.<) and too much dramatic irony (which I thought ruined several twists that could have been potentially great) were the only issues I had. I loved everything else about the game though. 

 

I wasn't expecting to but I ended up liking and caring about all party members. Which is weird and rare for me since I'm always so biased towards the girls and I rarely care about male characters in games and anime (except if they're Oreki, Hikigaya, edge lord MC-kun from P3, Okabe, or a majestic trap like Ruka lmao)... but I like the guys in the game too (especially Yusuke... that dude is a gift from heaven. <3). Concept wise, it's my favorite one in the series so far with P3's Dark Hour as a close second.. I really love the idea of changing people's heart by stealing their desires. Playing through the game was kind of depressing sometimes tbh. I'm reminded just how shitty the world and society can be. 

 

Since this is easily the most successful Persona game in terms of sales and reception, I hope Atlus milks the hell out of this too. I need that new Arena game and do a Makoto vs Mitsuru bishhh fight. Speaking of Arena, I can't wait for GGXrd 2. Tekken 7 is almost here too.

For Tekken 7, I'm kind of bummed out they're missing Zafina and Anna. I don't use them a lot but they're fun to play with sometimes. Same with Lei who has been a regular for a while now. They'll probably be DLC though. lol

 

Well, as long as I get more (Asuka x Lili) fanservice and yuri and I'll be content. 

 

I don't usually do this for fighting games but I'm looking forward to the story! If I remember correctly, I think they said this will be the end of the Mishima saga, finally.

I just saw the Battlefront 2 trailer... and it looks amazing and epic. But then again if there's anything I learned from triple A games in recent years, a lot of them end up as a disappointing and incomplete mess... and a lot of stuff they show in the trailers and previews could be misleading and won't even be in the game... And you have to wait and pay for DLC for it to even feel like a complete game. >.<

 

I'm praying this one lives up to the hype but I'll do my best to keep my hype level to a minimum. >.< 

 

I'm not much of an online player other than Overwatch but I would love playing with bots like the old Battlefront 2 game. Tbh, if the last one was just a copy paste of the old game with modern graphics, I would have been content. >.< lol

Trails of Cold Steel 3 launches on September 28 in Japan. Wow, I didn't actually expect it to release this year but fuck yes! <3

 

It probably won't be localized until 1-3 years though (assuming it even gets localized) rip. x_x

I love the graphical upgrade! Nowhere as stylish but it kind of reminds of P5's graphical upgrade even the combat system. I don't mind the new characters as much as I did when I first saw them as long as the old cast has roles to play (I think they will). A few Machias and Jusis banters would be nice too just for old times sake. And please make ( Fie x Laura ) happen, Falcom. <3

 

Long shot but I want to see some of the old random NPCs have cameos or references as well just to see what's up with them. The twins Vivi and Linde, Mint, Friedel and Loggins, Edel, Alan and Bridgett, Vincent, Margarita (lel) and Sariffa, etc. And especially Beryl and Rosine, there's like some major future plot shadiness about them even if they were treated as just random NPCs. lol Honestly, the Trails games have the best NPCs ever (like it's been a while since played but I still remember most of them). Most named NPCs have their own stories and character development and there's no plot and gameplay benefits behind them but it's something detailed and nice and makes the world feel real and immersive.

I didn't really mind Mementos that much. Probably because the combat feels fun for me and the visuals are easier on the eyes... the combat and grinding were kind of a drag in previous games because of the technical limitations. 

 

My least favorite palace was the 5th palace. I didn't really like anything about it other than Haru. Haru is going to be my main girl in NG+ after finding out her sadistic and homicidal tendencies ( girl crush material tbh <3 ).  I was already with Makoto at the time and I'm not here for side girls... lel I hope she becomes available earlier in the inevitable re-release enhanced edition ( Crimson, Ruby, Blood, Rose or whatever red reference Atlus decides lmao ).

 

Other palaces I didn't really like was 3rd. I wouldn't have liked the 2nd either but I fucking love art, bruhhh. I wasted so much time staring at the portraits and paintings. Amazing details. I found the rest of the palaces awesome though. My favorite was 4th. I love the music and design. 

 

 

I saw something about possible Trails in the Sky characters showing up in Cold Steel 3? I didn't look into it more because i was scared of seeing spoilers since i haven't even played CS2 yet.

Agate and Tita. Which would be cool cus i really like Tita. Sometimes she's not great but other times she's your best character in combat and kicks ass :O

I wish they localize Zero too especially since Zero is tied closer to Cold Steel than any other games.

Another Haru fan     Best waifu  5th palace was cool tho  and blood for a persona game, this isn't Shin Megami you know 

 

I just want a full HD remaster of the  first trilogy (something like Cold steel graphic would be nice) but how it aged well over the past decade. Also that Zero trailer looks so good   Waiting for CSIII will be the death of me..

 

 

 

Though in a way as much as I enjoyed my 190+ hours with persona 5, I really can't see it topping Nier Automata as my GOTY. Automata had everything I needed, dread, dystonia, emotional roller coaster, philosophy, writing, mind twisting, great side quests, loveable side and main characters, lore, music. If only persona 5 released last year, that would had made it much more of a sense going against FFXV for RPG of the year. Sadly now Nier Automata is going to be a gem lost in the sea of games.

 

 

I didn't even expect to like Haru that much. But she grew a lot on me and by the end of the game, she was my favorite slightly over Futaba and Makoto. Not to mention, she also has a huge disadvantage of being introduced late in the game too. 

 

For me, I'm still torn which game is my game of the year tbh. Maybe i'm just going to go with "why not both?" lmao

Automata was just an amazing experience. Probably the most emotionally tugging game i've played, more so than The Last of Us. 

 

I wish Persona 5's story and characters were more morally ambiguous like Automata. Especially since the cast is easily the most morally ambiguous cast so far ( well at least between 3-5.. i haven't played the others so i'm not sure about them ). Some of their actions and decisions were questionable, anti-hero like, and some even almost villain-like but at the end of the day, they were still good guys at heart. It would have been awesome if it was all out morally ambiguous since I'm a sucker for those type of stories.  

 

Yeah, it's a shame how underrated Automata is since most people just assume it's just a sexbot game. Tbh, that's what I thought too before my brother got the game while waiting for P5. lmao I'm also not into robot/android type of games and anime so I didn't even expect to like it when I started playing but I immediately got hooked because of the alluring, mysterious, and sometimes creepy atmosphere of the game.

Same. But I don't think that will happen tbh. Well, I hope not. As much as I love the characters and I'm thirsty for more, I was very content with the ending even though the end-game god was my least favorite in the series. They should just end it there. >.< 

 

Based on the popularity of the characters, the shit ton amounts of fan arts already, and the neverending memes, I'm sure we'll get 9139120391 spin-offs though. I can see crossovers from characters from 3 and 4 too (something similar to that fanfiction of a mess Persona Q lmao). 

 

 

 

Speaking of Automata's soundtracks, they're absolutely amazing. <3 I like a lot of video games and anime soundtracks and I think they're pretty good, but rarely as wow-inducing and memorable as Automata's.

Knowing how much Persona 4 was milked I'm scared of the amount of persona we will be getting, the other new ip makes me question why they need so much for p5, when p6 could be in development.

Mementos was gone how on earth would they pull of another shadow world? Have the midnight channel? That would be far too cliche. P4 I understood since we learnt Teddie came from it and it didn't disappear even after beating Izanami. P3 you died! The answer was kinda pointless too /:

 

 

You should do yourself a massive favour and if you have a ps3 lying around, play the original Nier game. You won't regert it. Even though the combat despite not being platinum, its still good. The ost brings a tear to my eye

 

 

Yeah. I saw there was a bunch of domain names registered for P5.  Well, I only really care about the re-release edition, a fighting game, and maybe a racing game if it happens.  I don't really care about the rest. lol I just hope it won't be another 8 years for Persona 6.

 

Yeah, I still have our PS3 in my parents' house and I'd like to try it out when I stay over for a few weeks. 

 

I kind of want to try out the Drakengard games too, Drakengard 3 in particular cause too many pretty waifus and Zero is hot.  I've read that Yoko Taro games had always been awesome, unique, and interesting in terms of story and setting, the biggest problem had been the gameplay before Automata. But as weird as this sounds for video games, I actually care more about the story and setting than gameplay. I usually look for relatability and/or how much it interests me (dark, gloom, and despair are VERY interesting to me. lmao). As long as gameplay is decent or tolerable, I'm fine with it. Maybe I view video games the same way I view anime nowadays.

If persona 5 remake gives us more time to play and maybe adds some new confidant I think I'll pass /: Played far too much of P5 OTL and yeah 8 years is going to be a pain when SMT their main franchise has a new game now and again.

I'm just looking for new games to play tbh since it's the summer and I have 4 months of freedom. After playing Automata and after I finish P5 NG+, I'm going to have hardcore withdrawal symptoms. lol 

 

The only games I'm really looking forward to in the summer are Tekken 7 and Tokyo Xanadu...  and I'm still not sure about Valkyria Revolution (I love Chronicles but I'm not really feeling this one). I have to play Steins;Gate 0 VN too since it was on sale the previous week and White Fox is taking forever with the anime. :/

Highly recommend you to try out S;G0 seriously you need to read that visual novel, along with zero escape and Danganronpa (their all on ps4) or vita if you have them. Also try out Disgaea 5 (I personally didn't enjoy the gameplay but story was nice), Root letter, FF type 0 remaster too since you're looking for story based games and if you don't mind otome code realize guardian of rebirth is bitter sweet

 

I'm getting into chronicle so far but having a lot of trouble /: just not used to the game, on chapter 5.

Thanks! I already played Disgaea 5 and Type 0 but i'll try out the other games. Zero Escape sounds interesting and I've been wanting to get into Danganronpa for a while. I always see fan arts and pictures of Junko around. lol I like her already. 

 

Yeah, Chronicles get progressively harder as you get farther. Always look out for anti-infantry mines and enemy lancers can also one shot your tank if they get behind it. Those 2 screwed me over the most. Also, engineers can resupply snipers and lancers when they run out of ammo, if you didn't know already. ^^

HYPED! I'm not really into fighting games but Tekken and Guilty Gear with my friends sometimes are an exception. I'm no good at the game and I suck at combos but it's such a fun game to play. It's the type of game i'm going to be playing for years from time to time like Overwatch. It has one of my favorite video game roster too. Having the most girl crush material characters for me also helps.

 

It looks like they finally have a story mode similar to the Mortal Kombat and Injustice games too. It looks awesome but I hope they keep the individual stories though since it's just going to be about the Mishimas. I have a feeling this could surpass 5 Dark Ressurection as my favorite Tekken yet. <3

Playing Valkyria Chronicles and.........

 

SPOILERS

 

On one of the earlier chapter when Alica holds the imperial hand as he died  saying 'mommy' and being badly injured and died got me, that itself hurts a lot 

 

but than the current chapter I just passed....................... Isara dies, I was like (before the mission) if Isara dies I'll cry, something bad is going to happen right......... After battle.. Rosie and Isara becomes friends three seconds later, sniper shot Isara dies like WTF why be so cruel?

How much sadness is there in the game cause my feels just got burned and thrown.

 

that soldier moment was one of my favorite moment too... especially since it's kind of rare for war-themed games to humanize the enemies... they may not be on the same side, but that soldier had a family to back to. </3

YYYEEESSS!!!! I can't wait to play Xiaoyu and Alisa again! I also know some of their movelist and combos but Imma try to remember some more of their moves! And Asuka & Lili are my third/fourth faves! Which new character are you most excited to play???

 

 

Kazumi! She gives me a lot of Jun vibes but her move set is totally different from Asuka/Jun. I'm also looking forward to Katarina, Master Raven (i like playing as the male Raven at times), and I almost forgot about Eliza. lol i'm looking forward to get to know the others too since i don't really know much about most of the new ones yet. ^^

They haven't even localized Zero no Kiseki and it's been almost 7 years.

 

 

 

I think it could be next after Sky the third. They seem to have prioritized Cold Steel though so CSIII would probably only take 2 years at most after the release this year.

I spoiled myself and watched Tekken 7 character endings. I'm kind of disappointed tbh, most of them are so short... and i don't really like the character episodes thing. I still prefer the prologue + rival battle + final boss + CG ending arcade mode. They've probably spent most of the resources on the story mode. I never really cared about the Mishima storyline that much but at least I have Kazumi to look forward to i guess. 

 

Oh well. Doing battles with my brother, my friends and the endless battles (I think it's called Treasure Battle this time) make Tekken games for me.

 

 

 

the endings seem canon does that mean Asuka and Lili are going to be living together now?  If it is, I hope they don't give Lili Jun's elegant moveset for the next game though... I love her own moveset. 

 

Xiaoyu-Claudio and Steve-Nina endings were very interesting, to say the least

 

I wouldn't have minded if they did Xiaoyu, Alisa, Panda, Lili, Asuka high school adventures 2.0. Maybe Josie and Chloe could have joined as well.  The bitter and salty reactions of hardcore gamerzzz would have been something to lol at too.
