How is NeverWinter? I've been meaning to install it since it went into Open Beta but every time I try to install the game it downloads at like 30kb/s.  <_<

Pros:

Good Combat

Can create your own dungeons so I imagine there is lots to do end game

High production value. 

Good PVE/PVP but not as good as tera imo

 

 

Cons

A little too easy(lvl 16 atm)

Balancing issues

The bosses aren't very exciting...Pretty much just slightly bigger humans....I prefer big monsters bosses and stuff Like in games such as Tera/vindictus

According to CVG(Very credible source) Nintendo will do a Significant Relaunch-Like campaign of the wii u soon, Nintendo plans for 3D mario to be out by october, and the holiday season will be very "special" for nintendo. and what they have told retailers has apparently put back their faith in the wii u.

 

also @ Jimmy Nintendo isn't having a press conference this year...Just 2 smaller events, One for Media/Gamers and the other for Business ,  Game booths, and a few directs leading up/during/ and after E3.

 

and Rockstar showed CVG(and a few other media such as IGN) a 30 min game play demo of GTA5 which is sounding awesome so far. Just picturing it based on their details is more enjoyable than playing GTA 4

What's E3? 

 

I played Neverwinter nights 2 but didn't like the graphics. I prefer old graphics like Baldur's Gate 2 or Neverwinter Nights 1.

 

 

 

XD you must be new to or not familiar to the console gaming scene. E3 stands for Electronic entertainment Expo. Its the biggest most anticipated event in gaming every year...Pretty much the "Christmas for gamers" Before this gen(PS4/Next xbox,Wii u) it was pretty much where all the consoles were announced at since 1995, and Its where the Big 3(Sony,nintendo,microsoft) and 3rd parties announce and show their biggest blockbuster games for the first time and what they have planned for their systems. This year its June 11 to June 13th.

I'm more of an online game kind of person, pc games and stuff since i don't really own any consoles ;p

Last thing I've owned was a PS1 lmao and I used it to play Harvest Moon, Final Fantasy and then Crash Bandicoot. Haha. More recently I had a PSP but gave it to my brother

The longest I went without console gaming was 2007-summer of 2012. If you exclude a couple of wii games... Now I think I have a pretty good balance but biased to console gaming atm with the new gen coming and alot of good console exclusives this year and ones that I missed out on from previous years.

But but.. Consoles are so damn expensive. Then you'd need to buy the games.

PC games are basic cause well ofc you have your computer and then you just torrent everything lmao.

 

 

 I like to support the industry. Without our money devs can't make the games and the more money they have the highest potential for large production value. And with the phone gaming industry booming That would make them want to move there instead of staying in the one that everyone is stealing their hard work from. 

 

 

The only time I'd torrent something is if it is pretty much impossible to find it in your country.

Paying for online games doesn't really contribute much to the society and to the gaming world, tbh. 

That's why I can never understand my boyfriend for paying so much for in game items in online games  -_-

 it does affect the people making the game and without his and everyone elses $ that buy those items the game would be dead...Thats especially true for Free2Play games....It also doesn't hurt him since he gets benefits from the items in-game anyway

 

Lol here is something that your really not gonna understand, Some people payed $200 up front to get early access and a few benefits in Never winter( a free to play game)

Well I would understand cause I understand they have a lot of money to waste, lololol.

 

But he can't even touch in game items. What happens if it closes down, it's like gone. He can't even collect it to resell it when it becomes a hot collector's item. There's no real value.

Though in Philippine Ragnarok Online, my boyfriend spent a lot of money like $1200 dollars but he was able to resell everything bit by bit in Philippine Money and he used it to buy me a computer, our puppy and we spent it on dates. That's a local server and buyers are just nearby and ready for meet ups but when we played an international server of Ragnarok Online we weren't able to redeem anything when we spent like $40

Well if he keeps on buying items and spending thousands of $ then it won't close down  

and no value? Cmon his temporary happiness is real value. He may not be able to touch it but he can feel it inside of him  and knowing that he was able to give back to the people that allowed him to experience that happiness will give him a tingle that will never go away.

The 360 was shitty, Especially compared to what the PS3 has to offer but people will still buy it...Especially Americans

Just look at RROD..that didn't stop people from buying it over and over again.

 

and I highly dbout that sony would charge people just to play online. Play station Plus is a great benefit and many people buy that. 

and the PS3 has more sales than the 360 despite releasing a year later and costing $600 at launch and continues to beat it every week in sales.

Microsoft doesn't have the releasing a year earlier advantage anymore

If they were to charge then it could very well backfire...since that is the reason why alot of people chose them instead of microsoft...and they spoke against it so many times already and like to tout the free online alot. and really that would be just greedy of them.

 

Nintendo and sony's gaming division should just merge. Nintendo Primarily in charge of making the handheld, Sony primarily in charge of  making consoles and they bring their games over to each other...Imagine the possibilities.... PSAS X smash bros....Zelda X Gran Turismo (Cars would be a great way for link to travel).... Mario X Uncharted X Little big planet...Metroid X Killzone...God of war X Animal crossing...The possiblites are endless.

Yeah but  more people like Nintendo's handhelds and Nintendo knows how to make a successful handheld....Just look at the Vita..the PSP GO.....and the PSP was hot at the start but thats it. Really there isn't room for anyone else anymore...There is Nintendo and then there is mobile thats it.

Lol first of all Ni no Kuni Is NOT turn based. and people compare it to pokemon because you can capture creatures. I dislike Pokemon but Loved Ni no Kuni. My only problem with the game is that it holds your hand too much.

Also you can play the demo on the PS3 for free.

 

 

As for recs...Depends on what type of game you usually like and what games you have played on steam or PC.... I got my First PS3 Summer of last year and uncharted 3 was one of the first games I got as well.

 

For starters 

 

If you like RPG's or just wanna try something amazing and very challenging then get Dark Souls(its also on PC tho)..I wasn't too sure about getting it at first but when I did I never looked back lol. Prob my fav game of all time..Lol I couldn't praise this game enough tbh. 

Dragons dogma is another amazing RPG...Great combat system especially. Only con is travelling but if you can look past that then you are golden.

If you want a Tactical RPG then get Valkyria Chronicles

If you want a near perfect Open world Wild west game then get Read Dead Redemption 

If you want a want a heavy story game with minimal gameplay then get Heavy Rain or the the walking dead Telltale game (Based alot more on comic than the TV show)

 

and I haven't played them yet but Star Ocean:The last hope and enternal sonta seems like good games...Will prob pick then up 2morrow. 

 

as for JRPGS in general on the PS3 i dunno. They are usually better on Nintendo systems nowadays. Just look at the triforce of great JRPGS released recently on wii...which is a dead console....Xenoblade chronicles, Last story, pandoras tower.

^Yeah its a punishing but rewarding game...Hell tbh I don't even consider it very punishing after I played demon souls. I guess at this point in my life I'm just a masochist who can't wait to die 200 times in dark souls 2.

 

NNK Is command based but you don't just sit there and watch the health bar go down like in pokemon. You gotta move around and be active in battle...especially boss fights.

Heavy rain is like TWD in the sense of that they are both heavy story based. But in Heavy rain instead of Quick time choices its quick time actions.

and Yeah I would wait for Xilla as well.

Started up Tales of Graces F and a boa song played lol. Haven't even stepped into the game yet but thats bonus points for me. This is my first tales game so hopefully I enjoy it.

 

and damn This game is looking so good. 1ST day buy easily..Think I'll end up getting it on the Wii U instead of PS4.

lol i'm not sure how much you'll like it if it's your first Tales game. I will say that it's battle system is fantastic and is the best in the Tales series. Everything else is pretty meh though, the story, chars, VA, dungeons, and music (outside of BoA's song ) Was actually the first rpg i've ever played where i was listening to my own music with headphones while playing, it's just plain and repetitive.

 

BUT, Tales games were always more about the fighting to me over the other stuff and it was fun enough for me to play and Platinum it because of the battle system. And fun is the most important thing in gaming. I'm not the biggest Tales fan in general though so you might love it.

 

In short: decent game, great battle system.

I love the battle system, The presentation so far is decent and really thats all that matters to me atm. With recently playing games like Fire emblem awakening and Ni No Kuni its gonna be hard to match those anyway.

Apparently Xilla has a much better presentation/story but graces has much better combat and content.

I haven't Played Ace attorney but I watch a lets player play the series and its pretty good(not much difference from playing and just watching since your mostly just clicking through) Lots of fucked up logic in certain cases tho.

Another thing with square enix. They just said that they will focus more on smartphone gaming...smh. Sad to see them go this way..I remember when square were JRPG kings with great classic JRPGS like Chrono Trigger but companies like Atlus and Monolith soft have easily took that title by now.

 

They make people wait 8 years for a certain final fantasy game... even more for Kingdom hearts 3 while other JRPG companies have been giving us amazing, innovative JRPGS this whole time and will hopefully continue to do so while sqaure will be making games for your iphones.

and [email protected] need to make a great Non-FF Game. Take notes from XenoBlade, Ni No Kuni, and help revive JRPGS but of course that likely isn't going to ever happen...especially since they plan to spend the wide majority of their resources on mobile games....

 

And how does 4 mil copies sold of a $60 game end up being a loss/not meet expectation anyway. WTF. For anyone else that would have been a huge hit.

I would wait till E3 b4 making a decision on Next-Gen, since most of the games are suppose to be announced there. 

 

Also apparently Rockstar has a ground breaking next gen title to announce soon(although they won't be At E3)..and a pipeline of next-gen sequals to IP'S that we already know...Possibly LA Noire, Bully, RDR

Watch dogs is gonna be on all consoles including Wii U btw.

Do they really consider Tomb Raider a flop? 

Not necessarily a flop but It didn't reach their sales expectations... They spent soo much advertising and expected another game from a series that was in a deep decline to sell 5-6 mil in 1 month(which would have passed some of the fastest selling games ever. Thats a F-ing crazy prediction

They need to stop spending so much on advertising...Look at Dark souls...That game had very little advertising but by word of mouth sold a little over 2 mil.

but it looks like they are just gonna stop getting out quality titles like sleeping dogs, hitman, tomb raider and move to the casual market with mobile games...Anyone expecting Sqaure-enix to help push the JRPG industry is dreaming.

Advertising was one of the main reasons. From a business prospective they should have been realistic and not have made advertising and budget cost that much.... expectations of making 5 mil in 1 month of a tomb raider game in 2013 is insane.  They should have found the balance between big budget/high production and advertisement like many companies do.  I would bet that if they took the $ made on the un-wanted multiplayer out then they would have been happier with the sales

 

 

Look at Bioshock Infinite, a Huge budget game....that sold about the same as tomb raider and hitman and made take 2 a profit that they are very happy with.... Of course BI was advertised even more so than tomb raider I think.

Depends on the company and game. Fromsoft put Dark Souls on PC due to the petition. 

 

Also look at earth bound on Wii U virtual console..People thought that game was never gonna come...But due to fan reaction we will get it.

 

 

The thing about sqaure is they announce a game but almost a decade later its still not here... similar to  Diablo 3...

Especially sequels to their most beloved games that would have guaranteed good sales...they should have struck while the iron was hot with KH3...
