The Official Lee Sungmin Thread ~

I really loved both the fanboy and super intelligent girl that they featured for Sungmin, and think both would have been an interesting fit with his personality. His fanboy will totally win him over, though. The guy's too sweet not to get along with.

And I want to see them dance Ice Cream together. If the Variety gods have any sense of justice, that makes it on film.

This is from Ming's first musical, Akilla, in 2009. I'd love to hear him perform it now, given how much more control and experience he has--not that the original isn't impressive.

My dream musical casting for him will always be Roger from Rent. Not sure if South Korea would ever go for a musical about the AIDS epidemic in NYC, not to mention the varied sexual identities of the main characters, but I still think Sungmin would kill this part.

(And Wookie would make a fantastic Mark.)

This ost has to be my all time favorite Sungmin solo video on YT. I was speechless when I heard it for the 1st time.

I just noticed I left a comment on it 3 years ago LOL

I agree with you. Sungmin and Ryeowook will make a perfect actor for this role. In all honesty I believe Sungmin and Ryeowook are the BEST  actors in SJ and in SM (Talking about their idol actors) .It's depressing how sm neglects these two members. So much talents and potential are being wasted~ *Sigh*

Your taste is A+.  :ahmagah:  :ahmagah:

Wookie has natural timing, which is impossible to teach. Given slightly sarcastic or comedic roles, he shines--but he also can channel a lot of emotion.  The problem is that his voice and build don't readily lend themselves to leading man roles. He has to be the right fit for things to really click. That's why he was so well received in Goddess Is Watching--he was the perfect fit for the part. If he stays choosy about projects and aims more for character roles, he really could have an amazing acting career in both stage and television.

Sungmin is by far the most versatile actor in SJ, and as you say, perhaps all of SM. He disappears into the role and breathes life into it. His Daniel is very different from his D'Artagnan (and Kyu's, too, for that matter), or Dracula, etc. He also has that rare ability to clearly transmit emotion and have it register with the audience. And his voice... *sighs* He can transform his voice to match different genres in a way that might just be unmatched.

(I love Kyuhyun, but his biggest fault as an actor is that you can see him thinking rather than living in the moment. I lift here, turn here, etc. His voice makes up for a lot of things, but I'd like to see him relax into a role and really own it. All of his characters to date can be described as charming but sarcastic, with a dash of romance. Taking a supporting role in The Days was a good decision, since you're usually more free to play with the side characters, and it will hopefully push him out of his comfort zone.)

But seriously, picture Ryeowook and Sungmin doing this number and tell me it wouldn't be amazeballs. Mark (Wook) is the guy in maroon and blue with the scarf, Roger (Ming) is in the green shirt and plaid pants. (Skip to 2:36 for the good stuff.)

I agree with all of this!!

Sungmin is always willing to  challenge himself in everything and it's shown in his solo stages for Super Shows and his musical roles. I really admire this aspect of his personality. On the other hand, Ryeowook is very cautious and Kyuhyun tries to play it safe all the time that is why he sticks himself to characters that are similar to his SJ's makane's usual stage persona.
