it's kinda bittersweet for me tbh.

one one hand I'm glad he found someone but one the other hand, feels like everything will change.

I'm not really fond of him getting married before enlisting though.

People were just discussing here how the wedding will affect that upcoming enlistment. And that's the number one worry for me tbh. >< I hope he really figured it all out before getting married. But then again this is Sungmin, I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Lol.

Translation: LIVSM's message to Sungmin
This essay, I've written for months and edited hundreds of times. The day I publish this, is when you first announce your marriage.

Why did I write such a long eessay.. Because I totally understand how every fan who loves you feels about this statement. It's like a bomb, that will cause explosion to Sungmin fans, SJ fans and even fans of Hallyu. Following this, Sungmin fans will enter the stage of silence. Because when you first announced, I had full confidence in saying I'll be by your side, I believed this won't end up in marriage and that the girl's revealing made you a victim, but in the end I was struck with this. The anger and disappointment I felt came back, and I can't get rid of it. This response may be worse than the impact if you had directly admitted wanting to get married. I know, things can't progress the way we want them too, you definitely didn't know it will end up like this. So I wrote this, to pen down my journey of knowing this for months, hope that I can, for the fans who have entered a patch of darkness have light, hope that even if they still want to leave you, they won't resentfully harm you. When you published relationship news, I posted that I won't say anything about it because it wasn't time for me to say my opinions, but now, it's the time for it.

 

Many problems in the process will compromise his privacy and the degree of exposure of this situation so I can't say, but generally I definitely, from the day I first found out till now, had no change in my disappointment and pain inside, instead it slowly increased throughout the progress of this situation, especially when he first admitted dating and the whole world could't find him to ask him about it, but came to me instead. Compared to him, I had bigger pressure. Even though they're my own friends, I couldn't breathe a word, meeting my friends who because of not knowing the situation was furious and hurt. I also couldn't explain, so I became more worried that when they find out the marriage, they would be so disappointed in you. Anger can subside, hurt can be comforted, but disappointment is something I cannot help (him) with (doing so).

 

When I first found out, I personally went to Sungmin to confirm it. Although he was shocked on me knowing, but he honestly admitted. What happens after admitting? I totally didn't prepare what to do afterwards. Lee Sungmin, this decision is selfish and childish. Why did you choose now? Why must it be this person? Why must you marry? Enlisting and marriage, these two things are the most fatal to idols, others try to avoid as much as they can, but you add both together instead? Your actions will have big impact on you. and even on SJ as a whole, did you really think clearly? I used to worry that because of your personality you may secretly enlist quietly, but now I see that I was completely in the wrong direction. What did I come to Korea for? What did I spend all my years of youth doing? Why am I still staying in Korea? At home there's stacks and stacks of stuff I need to send out, what am I doing? Suddenly felt that my left thumb kept having painful pricks, people say all 10 fingers are related to the heart, but when my heart was ripped apart, only my left thumb will hurt along, maybe because I felt too much hurt that makes me not feel pain anymore. so I used another method to remind myself I was genuinely shedding tears, that I really am upset. I couldn't talk to others, really too hard on me, so I called my mother. My mum likes Kyuhyun a lot, these years I chase Sungmin she knows all about it, when I chase overseas she pays all my expenses. After listening to me, she only said that if it's that painful, come home, don't need to study anymore, I also don't need you to come home with certificate, I just want you to be fine. At that time, I really cried like a fool, really really missed my parents so much, thinking of kangkang (dog?) at home thinking of the many who love me.

 

Second day, with my eyes swollen like peaches, I went to meet Sungmin's mum. I felt that he might have discussed with her the previous day, because such a major issue found out by fans, if I didn't keep it down and said it out, everything will be destroyed. He also guessed that I would look for her. so he told her first. When I reached the shop, I tried to casually indirectly bring it up, but ended up talking about other things. Then she spoke up first, saying "You went to the fansign yesterday right, how was it? So I said, mm, I know about his marriage. She didn't change expression, and smiled as she waited for me to finish talking, so I knew that he must have prepared her already. Then I said everything that happened, including how I found out and that I'm worried and don't understand. She smiled and listened, and talked to me the whole afternoon/ My worries and lack of understanding, she tried hundred times. But under the sky, there's no parent that can win their child; Sungmin's determinance on this, even his parents, members and company couldn't block his way. At first, everyone didn't approve, but talked again and again with parents, members and company, slowly changing their opinions. Now, everyone respects his decision. Remaining problem is the biggest, which is fans. I'm also a fan, he and his parents' straightforwardness is not easy, from the beginning I have no right to say anything about his life. Discuss calmly, want marry just marry, is not something that can't be accepted, I felt disappointment mainly because of suspicious towards the girl. But Sungmin said, among the girls he dated, there's girls who are more luxurious, there's those who are very introverted and quiet, many kinds of girls, but Kim Saeun is very very outgoing, when she talks she is straightforward, although she has rich family background but she never had arrogance of a wealthy girl, when together with her there's no stress only happiness, any hardships after talking to her will disappear, so he feels very comfortable, feels that she is the right one. After hearing, I believe many people, like me, can only choose to be silent. Lee Sungmin this fool, just live happily, just feel blessed and all is fine.

 

So I wrote a very long letter to him, it includes saying that although I want to comfort myself, but I who love you for 7 years, words of blessing is too cruel for me to say, I can't do it. Although I really wanted to say, don't marry, but thinking of how many years I've been beside you as a fan, thinking of members' words, but I know that now you're bearing the weight of the whole world, I don't want to add on to it so I decided to be by your side. All these years of being to Korea, all of my life is related to you, I follow you to concerts worldwide, friends are all buddies who chase SJ, I already, I've reached the point I can no longer remove you from my world. I can respect your decision, but now I cannot give both of you my blessing. I'm sincerely hoping you feel happiness every day, so when you're at your most difficult and most stressful time now, I will stay, and when you announce it, I will stand up and stand beside you to protect you. This is my promise. But that aside, what others cannot do, don't expect me to. I don't know what will the future be, but when you enlist I will find my own happiness, I will also marry and have my own life, and when my happiness comes, I will close this site. Hope that then, I can be one of your friends, and after many years sit down and chat happily about the years of difficulty without restriction. As a fan, it's my biggest wish

 

When he read it, he acknowledged it to me, then at every fansign he will ask what I want him to write and seriously write it, genuinely thank you, my friend. When he wrote every stroke of that, I felt that actually there's many things I have no need to say anymore, it's not that he's unaware, he's just not saying it. Regarding those who want to protect him till the end, he is seriously grateful. Although many things are not the same anymore, but he's still the beautiful him, the one who earns so much money himself but passes all to his mum to look after, although he himself knows he account and password but every month uses pocket money, and occasionally when not enough he will behave like a kid and whine until his mum approves then uses the money. Him who after a few words of praise from sunbaes can be happy until his mouth cannot close for a whole day, him who after getting daesang will shout ASA then bring his family out to an expensive resturant for a meal, him who every morning wakes up to exercise yet unfortunately is still chubby, him who when looking at good food will drool and eyes will brighten, him who often don't draw eyeliner and have failed hairstyle and hence get laughed at by members, him who on the stage shines and give off heat that warms my life.

I, am just a small fan after all.

 

Between fans and idol, from the beginning it's a one-sided love without reward, when I first chose this LoveInVain name, everyone sayd it's really special, beautiful and realistic. I also said before, because it's Sungmin, I am willing to do one-sided love. Now this sentence has never changed, only that he himself has a new identity, as a fan there are things I can't do like the past anymore. Form now, I won't relentlessly chase him overseas as much anymore, even on his schedules I won't always attend, but activities-wise I will still try my best to go, I will still help, like I said, my life already has a new page, regarding my contributions to Sungmin and my own life management have found a balance. LoveInVain will still be here, I will still do the usual, I promised him to stand by him I won't eat my words, like what a fan said, blessing their happiness is fake, but blessing his happiness, it's whole-hearted.

Reasons why I love Lee Sungmin (Part 1)

 

 

Great voice (singing AND speaking), yes. Talented, yes. Handsome, yes. Cute, yes. Sexy, yes. Manly with a touch of femininity, yes. Voluptuous ass and honey thighs, yes.
But there's so much more to Lee Sungmin than what I've just mentioned.

1. he's righteous
-there was a hidden camera where sungmin protected a high school girl from bullies. i loved the protective side he showed by actually pulling her away from the bullies and keeping her safe until the end, but what impressed me the most was that he continued to use formal speech and kept his manners even when he fired up at the bullies. btw, notice the word HIDDEN CAMERA. hidden camera=REAL side revealed

-Jia from Miss-A once talked about sungmin when she was on sukira. she was supposed to choose either ryeowook or sungmin to DJ with her, and she chose sungmin. ryeowook asked why, she answered that she has a good impression on sungmin, and here's her story. there was some after-party (for MAMA or something) a few years ago, with idols drinking and dancing and having fun etc. but then there was this foreign male dancer who took interest in Jia, so he apparently made some sexual advances at her. she was getting really uncomfortable, not wanting any of it, not knowing what to do etc, and that was when sungmin came to lead her away from the dancer. according to Jia, sungmin "rescued" her from the situation, acting all natural n stuff lol n when Jia was finished with the story, the other Miss-A members were cooing like omg he's the man XDD (i know how u feel, girls) sungmin said that he was really angry at that time when he saw what was happening to Jia

2. he's reliable
-during sukira one day, a listener complained about how people weren't paying much attention to her or something along those lines, n sungmin was like "it might be that they see you as a reliable person and they trust you enough to think that you can do stuff on your own". he said that he also once felt like the managers weren't paying as much attention as they did to other members, so he'd asked why when they were having a drink together, and the managers said it's cuz sungmin's reliable, they know that he takes good care of himself and doesn't need instructions to get things done every single time

3. he's selfless
-siwon once said in his skip-beat interview that, when kyuhyun came in as the new member of SJ, sungmin was the one who accepted kyuhyun with open arms n had the latter's back from the very beginning. remember, sungmin was the third best vocalist in SJ before kyuhyun came in, n having kyuhyun in SJ wasn't really the greatest thing that could have happened to sungmin cuz he had to give up his position. what's more, when the issue about 13th member was being discussed, almost 10 members out of 12 opposed the idea. one of those who didn't oppose was sungmin. and of course, i don't blame those who did oppose, they were already unstable, titled as nothing more than a "project group" that didn't have a promised future, and having so many members meant less credit for each one of them, so introducing another member obviously got them anxious. but despite all that, sungmin was willing to welcome kyuhyun

-there was a fanaccount of SJ pre-recording (i can't remember exactly when but a couple of years ago). they had a few takes and sungmin was monitoring the performance with the PD. he was discussing how the camera work can be improved, n said to the cameraman that the camera shouldn't capture him at certain points but should capture the whole picture instead. most idols want the camera to capture them as many times as possible, but sungmin's the kind of guy that thinks first about the group's performance and how it would be viewed by the audience, rather than his own appearance on TV

-ryeowook once said on sukira that sungmin's the member who gives way to others most of the times. ryeowook thinks that, for a group to function well and build strong bond, members shouldn't persist on their own ways n they should respect each other's opinions. he said that SJ doing as good as they are now is 80% thanks to sungmin

-there was an overseas interview about sungmin being the leader of SJ-M. sungmin was being modest by saying that he's just taken the role of leader simply cuz he's the oldest out of SJ-M members, but siwon commented that they tease sungmin about his age n stuff but actually, the reason why sungmin suits the role of leader is cuz he's the member who can sacrifice himself the most for the sake of his team

-there was this time when SJ went overseas for a concert n sungmin had to share a room with heechul. heechul talked about this on his radio broadcast. he couldn't sleep that night cuz sungmin was snoring. so the next day, he said to sungmin "hey, sungmin, did you know you were snoring last night", he just said it in passing, like a joke. but then sungmin must have taken it seriously, cuz he didn't snore that night. heechul woke up in the morning n said to sungmin "hey, you didn't snore last night" n sungmin replied "yeah, hyung, i didn't sleep actually..." i mean, wtf dude, who sacrifices his precious sleep (especially more precious for sungmin cuz he's the type of guy who needs at least 6 hours sleep per day) just for his hyung to sleep better?

-during idol athletic championship 2011, sungmin participated in a 100m race. Baek Chungkang was also one of the participants n when the race began, this guy was on the lead but in mid way, he tripped n fell down (crashed down, more like;; it seriously looked like it must have hurt real bad). sungmin was running with full speed but as soon as he saw the guy on the ground, he halted right away n ran back towards Chungkang, giving up his own race just like that. he supported Chungkang until the latter was taken away by staffs, n then finished the race. of course he was the last to finish it n the only one left on the track but omg you have no idea how proud i was of him XD sungmin was the hero all over the internet that day XDDD

4. he's a bit of a perfectionist
-he's known for being quick in improving his performance based on feedback. he does a musical performance, fans say he was a little shaky in diction, he fixes it right away and the next day fans say he had a perfect diction this time. i felt this myself too for some performances

-kyuhyun said on radio star that sungmin's the guest that star king would love to have on the show cuz if they give him a mission, like performing magic or dancesport, he would practice it over and over again until he masters it like a professional

-he once scolded himself and felt sorry cuz he made a mistake on the Blue World stage in Osaka (he fell down, and i tell you, it's damn hard not to fall down like that when you're thrown almost 2m up in the air;;)

5. he's professional
-we all know what happened to leeteuk's family when he was in the military...at that time, sungmin was hella busy with schedule so he was exhausted n even feeling sick, so managers told him to go to the hospital but he chose to stay with leeteuk and members at the funeral. he had TTM performance right after that, n everyone was worried that he might not do so well, but he pulled it off just as well as the other days. i remember vitaMINs being very proud of him

-he looked so tired during Swing promotions, but whenever he got up on the stage, he was full-on brilliant n flawless

-during Mamacita promotions, he had a stye so had to have a patch over his left eye, which meant he was half blind n still he managed to give us his 100% on stage

6. he's disciplined
-members said on zhoumi's radio broadcast that sungmin's the FM type of guy. he sticks to a regular pattern of lifestyle (a very healthy one, i might add), n he rarely breaks rules

7. he's caring
-when ryeowook first joined SJ, he was a bit of a loner cuz he hadn't spent much time as a trainee n so there hadn't been enough chance to socialize with other members who were all older than him. he was a little awkward n stuff, but it was sungmin who approached him first, suggesting to practice together or just have a chat etc. ryeowook said he still remembers how he and sungmin used to sing together in a small practice room. ryeowook thanked sungmin for making it easier for him to get closer to other members n always being there for him to listen to his problems or sometimes even solving his problems for him too. ryeowook wrote all this in a letter for sungmin, n read it out on sukira once. sungmin said he was touched, n posted the letter itself on his blog later

-there was this time when sungmin was looking rather down during a music show in bonamana era (well, in this era, he was looking depressed in general but anyway). fans were worried about him so asked everyone who might know something, including his fellow musical actors. and the musical actor replied to fans' tweets that sungmin was upset that day cuz he was worried about kyuhyun who'd just had an ear surgery n couldn't attend the show with the others (this was really sweet, not to mention it made joyers cry in happiness)

-we know that ryeowook is known as the chef of SJ, always making food to feed the kids (yes, heechul, that includes you). but apparently sungmin does this too from time to time, though not as much as ryeowook of course lol he once said on sukira that he made red bean porridge that day for the members to eat, n ryeowook responded by saying "he really cares for members like this" it might not sound like a big deal, but hell, it's still cute

-ryeowook once described sungmin as a "medicine kit". he said that sungmin's always there to take care of him whenever he's feeling sick, whether physically or mentally

-during a super show concert (was it Gwangzhou or Shanghai, i can't remember), DKRYS were performing In My Dream. the stage must have been a little slippery. kyuhyun was the first to sing his part n started walking to the front but he slipped a little on the way, so he decided to take off his shoes, leave them there on the stage n continue walking barefoot. sungmin was the next to follow, n he saw the shoes left behind by kyuhyun. he was about to pass by the shoes, but then he turned around n crouched down to rearrange the shoes so that when kyuhyun returned, it would be easier to put them back on. n that wasn't the end of it. when the performance was over n they were all returning to their original spots, sungmin reached the shoes first, waited until kyuhyun got there too n held out his hand for kyuhyun to grab so that he could prevent kyuhyun from slipping while the latter put his shoes back on (kyuhyun decided to just carry the shoes, but still, they held hands n joyers were happy okay). it's not easy to turn your mind to every single detail n care for such little things unless you do it all the time, so the whole incident showed me that it must be habitual for sungmin to care for people like that. plus, it's a beautiful kyumin moment too, check it out on youtube lol

-sungmin's a good roommate as well. kyuhyun said in an interview that sungmin's a very considerate person who didn't even complain about all the loud gaming noises kyuhyun made at night. sungmin goes to sleep early unlike kyuhyun who stays up playing games. kyuhyun said he asked if it bothered sungmin, n sungmin would say "no, it's fine, you can do what you like, don't mind me". sungmin on sukira also talked about having a roommate, saying that he doesn't want to disturb kyuhyun's sleep so when he comes home late or when he has to wake up earlier than kyuhyun to leave for schedule, he takes all his clothes, goes out of their shared room quietly, n gets changed outside. n of course, ryeowook didn't miss the chance to comment "how considerate of you" XD

-there was a fanaccount n even a video clip on youtube where members were pre-recording n sungmin told the fans not to sit on cold floor

-according to a fanaccount at a fansign event, sungmin asked the staffs if he could change the table to a smaller one cuz he thought the big table between him and the fans was making it harder for the fans to interact with him

-there are also people saying that sungmin treated his anti-fans to lunch once, but i'm not sure if it's legit

7. he's caring
-one of the girls in Rooftop Moonlight said on sukira that sungmin's the type of guy who cares n thinks about other people's feelings before making a remark, so the way he speaks to people is lovely, using nice n kind words. and yes, i agree, i might be a little biased, but when he speaks, it's the same korean but he sounds much softer than some others

-there was this musical newbie (can't remember his name) who was in the same cast as sungmin, n he was invited as a guest to sukira once. ryeowook asked him about sungmin as the musical sunbae (senior), n the newbie said sungmin seemed a little cold at first, but he thought wrong cuz sungmin turned out to be a caring guy who would approach hoobae (junior) first to give advice etc

-sungmin had a fight with the manager once, n here's the story. sungmin was keen on learning stuffs, n he wanted to study Japanese more. so he signed up for Japanese lessons at a random language school without telling the managers. the Japanese classes were really early in the morning cuz he had schedule during the day etc (ryeowook said that all the members admired sungmin for being so motivated to study even at such an ungodly hour). it's not surprising that he was getting physically tired. the manager noticed it n found out about sungmin's Japanese classes. the manager wasn't exactly mad at sungmin for studying with non-celebrities (i mean, what's wrong with that) but scolded him for wasting energy like that. the manager said sungmin should have told the managers so that they could arrange with the company for a special tutor at a time convenient n less exhausting for sungmin. n sungmin retorted that if he asked the managers to find a special tutor for him, the managers would have to go through a hard time trying to reschedule everything just cuz of him, that's why he just chose to do it on his own. from then on, the managers made it a habit to ask from time to time whether there's something sungmin wants to learn. well, what can i say, like celebrity, like manager?^^

-at the overseas interview about sungmin being the SJ-M leader (i've mentioned it in previous post), henry said that sungmin takes good care of the members. sungmin would be the first person to wake up n get the other members ready in the morning, n he would also scold them when something's not right etc

-donghae said at a show champion interview that sungmin often checks up on how the members are doing, asking whether they're feeling sick or not etc, and those times are when donghae feels like "ah, he really is our hyung"

-during filming for SJ-M Guesthouse preview, the photographer was up on a ladder to take photos of sungmin. when they were done with photos, sungmin grabbed onto the ladder so that it wouldn't wobble n told the photographer "you can climb down now". even these little things don't go unnoticed in lee sungmin's eyes lol

-on sukira, sungmin once said that keeping girls far from the road or stopping the passenger from falling forward when the car comes to an abrupt halt is basic manners

8. he's kind
-before SJ's debut, there was this girl who came in for audition at SM. she realized that she lost or forgot her wallet n started panicking, so she couldn't do well for the audition. she did miserably in front of the judges, nothing was working out for her that day, so she was really upset n was crying. then this guy approached her n asked her what's wrong, n when she told him what happened, he comforted her, saying everything's gonna be okay, n gave her some money so she could get a ride back home. she knew he was a trainee at SM, so she wanted to find out who he was, n later figured out that the guy's name was Lee Sungmin. after about a year, he debuted as a member of SJ n she became an ELF. this is what she said about sungmin before debut, i'm not sure if this is legit, but if it is, then kudos to gentleman sungmin

-a member of One More Chance complimented sungmin on a radio broadcast once, saying that sungmin's a really really really kind person (he actually said "really" three times lol)

-leader of Ooh-La-La Session (now deceased) was an acquaintance of sungmin from pre-debut period. the leader wrote an autobiography, and there was a paragraph that specifically mentioned sungmin, saying that sungmin's the kindest celebrity he's ever met. the leader added that, people who are just kind n nothing more aren't very useful, but sungmin's the type that has talent at the same time as being kind, so he would definitely succeed in the future

-there are so many radio guests n musical actors that complimented sungmin on his kindness, n i won't mention every single one of them cuz my god that'll take me forever

-sungmin doesn't just sit around until everything's ready for him. he helps out the staffs, like in sukira and sstp (from small things such as hanging banners etc). he does it like it's nothing, n vitaMINs always say "well, as expected of sungmin, it's not that surprising". writers for EHB also commented on the programme homepage that sungmin usually helped with preparation of filming n clearing up after filming, regardless of whether the camera was on or off (sungmin would do that during breaks as well, n members apparently teased him for that, telling him to stop pretending to be so nice n take a break when it's time for break). one of the EHB staffs described sungmin as "sunshine" n such a loveable person

-there was a small car accident some years ago. a middle-aged lady was driving her car into a car park n there was a car coming from the opposite direction. the cars slightly bumped into each other, leaving some scratch. some guy got off from the opposite car n the lady was afraid that he would growl at her, but to her surprise, he knocked on her window, apologized n asked if she was hurt. she got off her car as well, n they both called their insurance companies. while waiting for response, they had a chat, n the lady found out that the guy was from a famous idol group, SJ. she apparently was shocked to know that an idol could be so polite n kind (cuz she had a stereotype that idols n other celebrities were a bit arrogant n full of themselves). the lady asked for an autograph n he gave her one. needless to say, this guy turned out to be sungmin, n the lady's son posted the story on a public forum along with the photo of sungmin's autograph received that day, saying that they were both touched by his kindness n down-to-earth attitude

9. he's pleasant to be around
-writers of Oppa Band commented that sungmin was everybody's favourite on the set, including the seniors n staffs. everybody liked jungmo as well, but there's this subtle difference. one of the staffs said that, if jungmo was to hurt his finger while playing his guitar, the staffs would be worried n give him band-aids etc, and if sungmin was to hurt his finger the same way, everybody would rush to him to see if he's okay n would try to put the band-aids on him themselves (this is cuter if you imagine it lol). the only explanation i can think of for this is cuz sungmin was being nice to everybody in the first place (i'm not saying jungmo wasn't btw, of course he was too, but maybe at a different level?)

10. he's modest
-there was an interview about sungmin's JTR musical. the journalist who wrote the article said that sungmin was such a modest n polite person even though he was a super star of a worldly scale. i admit that the article might have "beautified" it, but then we all know sungmin's modest n polite XD in the same interview, the journalist asked him if he had any good advice as musical sunbae for ryeowook, n he'd commented that he wasn't exactly at a sufficient level to advise ryeowook on musical yet

Reasons why I love Lee Sungmin (Part 3)

 

 

*continuation from previous post
11. he's hard-working and diligent
-the producer of Akilla (sungmin's first musical) gave an account of how hard-working sungmin is. according to the producer, sungmin would sleep on the floor of the practice room instead of sleeping in his own room at the dorm cuz going back n forth between the dorm n the practice room took time, n he wanted to use that time for more practice

-Lee Gunmyung is sungmin's musical sunbae n fellow musical actor in JTR, TTM, n Vampire. he was asked in an interview to comment about idols entering the musical industry, so he talked about a couple of idols including sungmin. he said sungmin's very hard-working n gave an example of it. musical actors have set days for practice, and sungmin had his own timetable too. but then one day, Gunmyung found sungmin in the practice room even though he didn't have to come for practice that time, so he asked him what he was doing here, n sungmin said that he just came for more practice cuz his other schedule got cancelled. this apparently impressed Gunmyung quite a bit. he added that sungmin always comes fully prepared, having memorized all the lines n all the scenes

-sungmin memorizes all the lines n scenes of other characters as well, so there was even a time when he volunteered to practice as Gloria cuz the actress cast for Gloria couldn't come that day XDDD (gender of the character does not matter when it comes to lee sungmin). this was revealed by the tweets of another musical actor i can't remember;; u might have seen the photos of "mingloria" going around somewhere though lol

-Yoo Joonsang, another musical sunbae of sungmin, also commented in Super Junior's Star Life Theatre that sungmin's really hard-working n improving greatly day by day

-one of the ensemble members for JTR has tweeted about sungmin too. it was during preparation for JTR performance in Japan. the ensemble member said that sungmin improved a lot again, n that he'd gladly welcome idols in the musical industry if every idol was like sungmin

-i also saw sungmin taking out n studying the musical scripts even at sukira studio. he would open the scripts n read them whenever it was time for ads or a song to be played. i remember seeing him that day n wondering if he ever took a break. he puts so much effort in every musical he does, n he's earned 2nd place in idol musical ticket sale last year. he's taken the role of Daniel in JTR for 3 consecutive years, which says something about his competence n the producer's confidence in him, n there were many people giving favourable reviews on his acting skills in JTR (his singing skills got criticized a bit, but that kinda died down too by the time he played D'Artagnan in TTM). plus, he was nominated as the best new musical actor at the 17th Korean Musical Awards. he didn't get the award, but the judges' decisions were revealed later n one of the judges actually selected him to receive the award (too bad the judge was outnumbered, though it's still impressive, given the fact that sungmin was the only idol out of the nominees n the rest was well-trained musical actors). as far as i know, sungmin's the only idol nominated for the award apart from jyj's junsu, but please do correct me if i'm wrong

-Shim Jaewon, the performance director for SJ, has tweeted a photo he's taken with sungmin, n said that sungmin's the diligent member who always arrives first for practice

-sungmin has unexpectedly appeared on Yoo Inna's radio broadcast a couple of times cuz of his diligence. Inna's radio is aired right before sukira, n sungmin always arrived at the studio early to prepare for his own broadcast. he would wait there until Inna's radio finished, n he got called in a couple of times to do the ending ment with Inna XD she was impressed at how diligent sungmin was cuz he came early everyday

-during the overseas interview about sungmin as SJ-M leader (which i've mentioned in previous posts), eunhyuk said that sungmin is a good role model for others cuz he usually acts on things before others do. eunhyuk added "when this interview's over, sungmin hyung will probably clean this place up before we leave", i don't know if he was joking but it does sound like something that a person as diligent as sungmin would do

-writers of EHB said that sungmin was a very enthusiastic person. EHB was a programme that needed to invite a specialist for each and every episode, n according to the writers, sungmin would go talk to the specialists whenever the filming took a break n even when the camera was off, asking questions n wanting to learn more about what they were experimenting that week etc it's obvious that he took every part of the show seriously

-this was when sungmin was still an undergraduate student at his university, it was in the Miracle era, i think. if i remember correctly, there were eunhyuk, kangin, shindong, n sungmin gathered around to film something, n they were talking about each other's strengths. it was either shindong or eunhyuk who picked "hard-working" as one of sungmin's strengths. kangin asked to explain further, n shindong or eunhyuk answered that sungmin works really hard for SJ activities. then kangin was like "so are you saying the rest of us doesn't work hard?" n eunhyuk added that it's not just the SJ activities, sungmin works hard for both SJ activities AND his school, n kangin said "ahh yes, i admit it, he's amazing in that aspect". they said it's really difficult for idols to keep up with school work at the same time as running here n there under their killer schedule, so most of them would just miss out on lectures n stuff, but sungmin didn't miss a single lecture, n he always managed to finish his school works on time, staying up all night if he had to. sungmin had once said on a radio as well that he really enjoyed studying at the university even though it was physically challenging. he received scholarship too btw

12. he's smart n wise
-shindong, eunhyuk, kyuhyun, n sungmin once filmed The Genius 2 as special guests. during an individual interview, shindong said that the members who came today were the smartest n the wittiest of SJ. at first i was like "wait..you mean, including sungmin?" i mean, i hadn't seen that side of him before, but then i fell in love with him all over again after watching the show cuz dear lord even his brain's attractive;;;; he won the game after all XD

-sungmin was one of the people who taught me how to think better, feel better, as well as to live better. i listened to a lot of his words on sukira, n they were mostly wise n mature. the best ones i've heard from him so far are these:
-become the "only one" rather than the "number one"
-a genius cannot be a great teacher
-good things always happen after enduring bad things, what's important is "not giving up"
-clever cannot beat hard-working and hard-working cannot beat enjoying

13. he's good-natured
-sungmin was a guest at shindong n shinyoung's sstp once. shinyoung asked sungmin what he's like when he gets angry, n shindong answered instead, saying that sungmin rarely gets angry. n even if he does get angry, he doesn't throw tantrum or scream or anything like that. apparently he just mumbles n complains to himself under his breath. shindong n sungmin demonstrated it, n shinyoung was like "that's it? that's what you call angry?" more like, sulking, actually..lol

-it was during the filming of either the short drama with leeteuk (the one where sungmin can turn invisible by skipping ropes) or the short drama with yoochun (the one where sungmin n yoochun fall for the same girl). the PD said she thought that sungmin must be the kind of guy who doesn't get angry cuz sungmin seemed awkward with acting an angry character

-ryeowook said on sukira last year that sungmin can't swear. he said that members were joking around one day n told sungmin to say a swear word; they wanted to see if he could, so sungmin did, but they cracked up cuz it was so awkward n cute. one of the male guests on sukira asked "doesn't sungmin look pure n innocent on the outside as well?" n ryeowook answered "yeah, he's pure. he's good-natured"

-this is another sukira broadcast where ryeowook mentioned that sungmin is too nice, so he gets fooled by members a lot of times. ryeowook said sungmin's an easy target. sungmin was the DJ too at that time n he didn't necessarily deny lol

13. he's good-natured
-leeteuk once gave an account of how good-natured sungmin is, though this was a long time ago. there was this time when all the members were practicing n sungmin got a call from his friend. he asked leeteuk for permission to go see his friend who was coming to visit him, n leeteuk allowed him. but sungmin apologized for meeting his friend in the middle of practice, n kept saying that he'll be back soon n that he was sorry over n over again until he was out the door. heechul talked about this on some radio broadcast as well, saying sungmin's a really soft-hearted person. i bet this was back in the days when everything was quite strict for the boys, so i'm not sure if sungmin still does that, bt it's another proof anyway

-a male guest on sukira "Healing Cafe" once said that he's the type of person who can't express anger or say harsh things to people, so he would just keep everything bottled in, n ryeowook said "in our group, sungmin is like that". Luna from f(x) also has said this about sungmin in the TV show called "Taxi" in which she appeared with sungmin n Jessica from SNSD. sungmin himself has said before too that he can't say bad things to members cuz he might hurt them (this was during the overseas interview about him being SJ-M leader, which i've mentioned in previous posts)

14. he's a person with a sense of community responsibility
-sungmin has done quite a bit of volunteer works in his private time. this became clear in the TV show called "Love Family" where sungmin n kyuhyun worked for a day at an orphanage housing disabled children. sungmin was experienced in helping the children to wash, feeding the babies, interacting with them in general, n doing all sorts of other chores. one of the female volunteers who regularly work at the orphanage wrote about working with sungmin n kyuhyun for the day, n posted it on a public forum with a few photos. she said that kyuhyun was a little awkward, but tried his best, n that sungmin was very experienced. she added that sungmin was very mature n a person with the right mind/right way of thinking. she had a conversation with sungmin n kyuhyun while they were cooking spicy rice cake, n said that sungmin was doing most of the cooking, with kyuhyun nagging beside him n they were having a cute fight with each other XD kyaaa my otp

-sungmin once said that one of his wishes was for fans to join him in volunteer works for people in need. he said it's such a great healing process for him, n he would be glad if fans could also experience what it feels like. as a result, many fans gathered together to start volunteer works, n continued to do so for years (i'm not sure if they're still doing it). when sungmin found out about them, he thanked them, saying that he was very touched cuz he didn't expect too much out of what he'd said, n that he was sorry for not being there physically every time cuz of his schedules, though he promised to keep offering help by donations. later, sungmin received an award of gratitude from the relevant City Council itself (Dongjak-gu) for being a good exemplary citizen cuz of his volunteer works, huge donations, n encouraging young people to help those in need for more than 5 years. when he received it, he took a photo of the award n left a message on his cyworld with the photo, saying that he was sorry for receiving this award cuz he thought he didn't do much n it was all thanks to fans, so he decided that the fans deserved the award n that was why he posted about it. he added that he'll become a person who can share the love and warmth to more people, n thanked the fans again for participating in community service, even replying to some fans' comments on the post (they were really sweet. one of the fans from Malaysia said that they've donated rice but it wasn't much, n sungmin replied "don't say it's not much, just the thought of it is precious to me"). ryeowook once said "sungmin hyung does a lot of good deeds unknown to the wider public". i bet this is an influence of sungmin's mother, who's done volunteer works for more than 20 years (20 years of volunteer works is no joke, i know, i've done some volunteer works myself too)

15. he's crazy (in a good way)
-sungmin's the kind of guy who, if he gets into something, he throws all of him in n goes crazy for it. eunhyuk said this recently in "A Song For You", giving an example of sungmin being so passionate about taewkondo that he wore his taekwondo uniform everywhere even when he wasn't practicing it. sungmin said it himself too on sukira that once he finds something he's interested in, he goes crazy for it. personally, this is something that i highly value in a guy

-sungmin has talked on sukira about one of his ways to overcome hardships. he said that there was a time when he was completely drained of energy n was in the worst possible condition to do anything, n it was right before a musical performance too. instead of worrying about how he should keep himself up for hours of performance or simply wanting to quite right then n there, he apparently laughed. he said that when he thought of how great it would feel after successfully finishing the performance despite all the difficulties, n how much he would learn n improve himself later on becuz of the whole experience of suffering, he felt happy. yeah, it sounds crazy, he said he thought it was crazy too, but that's obviously how he overcomes hardships, n i was really inspired by his way of thinking

16. he's multi-talented
-sungmin can sing n dance (he's the only member who's part of the main vocal line at the same time as being part of the main dance line), can act, can rap, can DJ, can play the guitar, can play the piano, can play the saxophone, can do martial arts, can do taekwondo, can cook, can massage, can speak Japanese, can ski, can play golf, can ride a horse, can do archery, can swim, can surf, can perform magic, can perform cocktail show, can toss pizza, can do bubble arts, can do circus tricks, blah blah blah, he can do anything! he's known as SJ’s "functional member" lol kyuhyun also said on "All About Super Junior" that sungmin's capable of everything. n of course he does everything with passion, i might add

-heechul once had to answer a question "out of SJ members, who would do best in the military?" on his radio broadcast, n he picked sungmin. there was another question "out of SJ members, who would be the best survivor on a deserted island?" n heechul picked sungmin again. sungmin's the type of guy who can handle pretty much anything

17. he's loving
-he loves Super Junior. there was a hidden camera during SS4 in Jakarta, where the members were supposed to prank kyuhyun, siwon, ryeowook, n sungmin. this is included in All About Super Junior so most of you might have seen it already. the members were fighting like they were about to disband, n siwon n sungmin were trying to calm the members down etc, it was quite serious. when sungmin realized that this was all just a prank, he ended up crying out of relief. n we all know he NEVER cries. if people who never cry actually cry, it's cuz it means so much to them. obviously SJ n members mean so much to sungmin

-he loves his fans. there are so many examples of him leaving love messages for fans n caring for them (e.g. telling them not to come to sukira open studio cuz the weather was horrible)
-he takes photos of things he receives from fans n thanks them each time like other members do. he reads every single letter from fans n uses the gifts from fans for years
-he interacts with fans by sometimes actually leaving comments n replies on fansites, fan pages or fan blogs
-he apologized to fans for not winning GDA in 2010, when it wasn't even his or members' fault. he said he was sorry for disappointing fans that support n love SJ so much, n that he will try harder
-at a TM fansign event this year, a fan lost her passport. she put it in the gift bag for sungmin n forgot about it. sungmin found the passport n posted about it on his blog, saying that he'll leave it with the SM security personnel so that the fan could come n ask for it at her convenience. what impressed me about this incident was that he used such caring words, concerned about how worried the fan might be, n that he apparently opens the gifts from fans as soon as he gets home instead of leaving them to the managers (which i've heard some idols do), n also that he personally handed the passport over to the security personnel the next day (there's a youtube clip of this btw)
-during Swing promotions, we all know sungmin was like a zombie. he was exhausted n troubled n stressed etc. of course we were worried about him, n he must have noticed it. he apologized to us through a blog post for not being professional enough, n i was touched by his attitude, i mean, who on earth apologizes for being tired n having a hard time once in a while? he's a human too, for god's sake
-during an SM town concert, all SM groups were out on the stage to sing the last song together, and sungmin was going around signing for fans. it was nearly the end of concert n he had to go, so one of the staffs came to lead him away. the staff was gesturing for him to move, but he stayed till he finished signing for every fan who was there on the spot (there's a video clip of this on youtube too)
-after the 100th concert (last day of SS6 in Seoul), sungmin was one of the last members to leave the stage. he kept waving at the fans, then he suddenly did a deep bow alone, thanking everyone n totally making me tear up for some reason. everyone's attention was on heechul n leeteuk who were doing the thumb kiss at that time, but still sungmin showed his appreciation in his own way, n it somehow touched me so deep i almost cried
-when he performs something on stage, he gives his best effort every time. one example; remember the callus on both of his palms, proving just how much he's practiced the SS6 drum solo performance for us to watch n enjoy. it's not simply about fulfilling his dream, n if it is about fulfilling his dream, then fans are obviously a part of his dream. he said on SS6 Tokyo stage that it was one of his wishes to make fans happy with his performance (whether as a member of SJ or as a musical actor). all the effort he puts in is for us, he works so hard to make us happy^^

to be honest, it takes me more time n more space to write about the reasons why i love sungmin, or in some sense, i can't even describe it in words cuz he's such a great human being, so much more than aegyo n sweet pumpkin. but i just wanted to share with you some of what i've heard n seen about sungmin in the hopes that you'll also come to realize or be reminded of how beautiful n full of love sungmin is :D

I totally am!!!! This is the start of our next chapter with SJ--the truly everlasting part of our promise to them. As hokey as it sounds, we're not losing a member, the boys are gaining a sister. Our boys, who have given their youth and their all for ELF, deserve to be loved and totally happy in their personal lives, and I want to see Heenim's dream of ELF bringing our babies to Super Shows come true.

 

While I'm sure there will be some netizen negativity, there always is. And if K-ELF kick up another stink on the day of the wedding, or close to it, that will just prove that the original issue had nothing to do with their laundry list of weak excuses, and everything to do with a member getting married. 

 

And hopefully there will be one picture of the group together at the wedding (I'm counting on you, Yesung and Siwon). The one upside of Shindong's back issues is that he can be there for Sungmin, his bestie, on his wedding day.
