Is Korean/Asian male fashion perceived as gay in the western world?

As an American born Asian, I can't help but notice how feminine Korea and Japan's male fashion trend are. I would occasionally see Fobs dressing like those and sometimes a group of people would make fun and ask if that is a "girl or a guy".

What do you think?

by ignorant straight rednecks, yes

Not entirely ignorant straight rednecks. I guess after analyzing the fashion, I can understand why.

Some of the nerds I have talk to were confuse about the genders of a lot of Korean idols.

japan/korea are more fashion forward than the US, what's big in asia doesn't usually become the trend in america until 2 years later. european male fashion is also considered feminine in american standards.

america, except the major cities, is just not fashionable as a country

If we were talking about like 2007-2008, then I'd agree, but I don't think so anymore. At least not by the younger generation.

Heh I am part of the younger generation and I have to say that they do kind of care based on what I seen. :D

I mean I could understand why.

I think it could be, because I just don't see a lot of males who aren't gay dressing up that way. I pretend not to see half the things that GD wears. The again, I am not sure most Asian males dress this way. I have no idea really what regular Koreans wear...

On the other hand, no man regardless of sexuality should wear a skirt. I'm sorry but No. You take that skirt back where you bought it. Even kilts make me uncomfortable.

If an american male dressed like an average korean man (not an idol, just normal put together with like, moisturizer or something), he wouldn't be considered gay (except by some bigots) just... very overdressed. I mean, I suppose it depends on your workplace or school, but most of the time men don't try very hard. I am not a man, but those I've been friends with are pretty satisfied with dressing casually and couldn't be bothered to keep up with fashion.

Only some, not all.

When it comes to fashion, Japan are more fashion forward than Korea. They are more adventurous and original, I think.

Most designers WANTS to study fashion/design in Japan.

Most westerners are just not comfortable by what they perceive as unmanly etc. They just like simple stuff, nothing wrong with that. (I'm talking about men in their late twenties and above...don't know what kind of styles the teens prefer)

you mean like colorful clothes and skinny jeans? or outrageous YG-Jeremy Scott shit?

Seeing how many Asian men dress on a normal day, it isn't really different than how western men dress.

Asian men do tend to wear a bit more jewelry and have less facial hair than western men tho.

yes, because westerns do not care about fashion. t-shirt and jeans are the norm.

It is also the hair too. The long spiky dye hair and the makeup/earrings is just too much I guess.
