YUI is a pop/rock singer-songwriter under Sony Music Japan. She began writing poems in the ninth grade, and by the age of 16, she began studying singing, songwriting, and guitar at the recommendation of a friend. Aiming to become a professional, she carried her guitar around and performed at local areas like the seashore of Shingu and Kaminofu's rice fields. She attended an audition hosted by Sony Music Japan in 2003, and recieved the highest scores from all the judges. Two of the songs she sang at the audition ("it's happy line" and "I know") were released on an indie single in 2004, with "I know" being the second track. When she left her hometown of Fukuoka for Tokyo, she wrote the song "Feel my Soul and caught the ears of Fuji TV producer Mr. Yamaguchi, who saw the demo clip. He was so impressed that he used it as a tie-in for his channel's prime-time drama "Fukigen na Gene". YUI recieved high praise for her debut album FROM ME TO YOU (released in 2006), with it reaching #9 on the weekly charts. Her second album, CAN'T BUY MY LOVE (2008) went straight to #1,  and she had a string of consecutive #1 singles and albums until "Rain" (single; 2010) broke the streak.

On December 18th, 2012, YUI announced that she would be taking a break from music. After a few months, she returned with short blond hair and a new band called FLOWER FLOWER, which made an official debut in May 2013.

YUI! Yay!

Subarashii Sekai is great! The songs sounds a bit like an old Nintendo game. haha

Mandilinn, from where do you have the information for the album release date? O_O It's not even on the official Flower Flower homepage.

I saw it on Baidu when I was trolling through the first few pages earlier, and they're usually pretty accurate (though they might be off by a week or two date-wise), so it might be from there.

Like Ryu said, it was Baidu. They've been accurate with most releases this year despite them being posted before official announcements, so I trust their information.

Yeah. Other than a few changes in date for some releases, their info has been correct.

Holy crap! YUI!!!!

I've loved her since Goodbye Days... she, Utada Hikaru, and Flow were the sound track of my middle school years xD Flower Flower isn't too bad either, but her solo act will always have my heart. Lovely and talented. She just always felt so raw and natural.

Personal favorite:

I'm listening to some FLOWER FLOWER songs... it's still YUI to me...with better band mates maybe?   It's still lacking powerful drums if they want to call it a jrock band... I do like it though but I prefer the old ones :rlytearpls: ILY YUI, wherever you go, I'll follow...
