i just realized today how much I dislike YeonJu as a player of The genius. I mean she contribute absolutely nothing to the games so far and has been just a bland player who tag along for free and yet she still has the most garnets while better player get eliminated. But I was fine since she never bothered me as she only tagged along and never influenced the game or results, but in this episode I was annoyed how she spilled Dongmin and Hyunmin strategy the moment he told her and how she basically ruined the plan. Yes Yoohyun would probably catch on later into the game, but so be it. Did she have to be wishy washy between the two teams when she's the one who wanted to join Dongmin aliance this time, after "betraying" them last game?

 

She should know by now what kind of player Dongmin is and how he's dominating, and when you're with him either you're 100% on his boat and he will try to save his teammates when he see them as an ally, example with Hweejong, Sujin, Hyunmin and even Ahyoung in previous games he tried his best to protect his teammates and said he would go to DM instead. So if she joined his team she should know what to expect already.

 

I guess my main issue with her this episode is how she indirectly influenced the game result by turning right to Yoohyun and spill the plan. Before she was just invisibles, so I just let it pass. But if she's going to contribute nothing and just free ride, then at least don't ruin the game or spill strategies.

 

Ahyoung also didn't contribute much, but she is at least fun to watch with her crazy laughter and antics with Dongmin. YeonJu just annoyed me this episode especially when she looked hella pissed on the team, when she was the one who did a suicide move on herself and her team. If Dongmin was last she and Ahyoung would be safe but no she spilled the plan and then got pissed Dongmin-Hyungmin doesn't support and give her black garnet if she's chosen and bc of different of opinion.

EP10 game rules and spoiler

 

the main match is each player get 5 tablets with 3 numbers and 2 signs (plus/minus/divide/multiplication) that they need to make a 10 out of. The players already start with a number each which is hidden as "?", and the other 4 tablets they later get from auction.

 

But the new rule allow any 0. numbers to be rounded down to a whole number, so 10.9 or 10.45 etc would count as 10.

 

Hyunmin utilized the new rules well and made sure that as long as he got: 11, (minus) and (divide) out of 5 tablets, then it does not matter what the last two numbers he get is!

 

Cause as long as: A>B

Then B/A = X<1, so no matter what number he get it'll always be less than 1, aka 0. some numbers. 11-0. will equal 10.some numbers and will count as 10 and he then get 20 point.

 

Hyunmin had: (11)-(4/6) = 10.66

 

But Dongmin needed 4, so Hyunmin traded his 4 for Dongmin's 12 and the resulting: (11)-(6/12) = 10.5

 

Still count as 10, so yeah it was a smart strategy by Hyunmin to get the: divide sign cause that gave him so many possibilities to make 10 no matter what and also hid his "?" well.

 

Because apart from making 10 which gets a player 20 point. Each player also need to take turn and guess the "?" number that the opposite members picked at the beginning of game. Those who guess the correct number will get +3 point for each member they guessed correctly, and the player who was guessed correct on will have reduced -3 point.

 

So the game is not only about making a 10 out of 5 tablets, but also to make the combination not obvious and hide what their "?" number is, and they also need to guess correctly the other members "?" number.

 

So Hyunmin strategy was smart which made him get 20 point and also not giving away any point and clue about what his "?" was, because his combination was not obvious to reveal his hidden number. Jinho also did really well there.

 

After each member "?" is revealed and the member with most point at the end wins and become #1. Jinho made a 10 and guessed the most correctly "?" which made him #1 and won the price money. Hyunmin also made 10 and was second in total point after Jinho, which got him the token of immortality.

 

DM was between Dongmin and Yeonju and she lost, as a previous member posted above me.

EP11 preview

 

Hweejung, Ahyoung, Yoohyun and Kyunghoon will be back guesting!! I'm excited to see them again especially Yoohyun my bby lol and Kyunghoon who didn't get to do much before he was eliminated. I also missed Ahyoung and her crazy laugh lol

About Hyunmin in general, it's so fun to see him get a knack on the games and all of sudden go "AHAAA~~~~ I got this!"ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ It's like watching a kid playing game and getting a hang of it and being all excited and giddy (I keep forgetting he's a 94 liner ã… ã… ). To me watching him play is seriously fun as he genuinely enjoy playing the games and coming up with strategies.

 

Tbh Hyunmin is the best thing that happened to The Genius after Jinho. And no matter what result for final, his achievement alone in The Genius S3 has been outstanding. Also not to belittle Dongmin's capability, but I wonder if he would go this far in the game without teaming up with Hyunmin (who saved him a few times like the upgrade middle race, stock game and chain action game etc).

But they helped each other out in the stock game though. They shared the information equally from the start and decided to make Dongmin the winner because he had more potential in winning against Yoohyun. Dongmin had also made Hyunmin the winner a couple of times before. Hyunmin had the brains while Dongmin had the charisma so I think whether they team up or not, the both of them were going to go far either way.

Yeah but Hyunmin played many crucial and deciding roles in Dongmin wins. Like when he used to trade information with Jeongbum and Yeongseung to buy the timing of trading and when he bought the secret information, cause bc of that Dongmin benefitted greatly when Hyunmin sold of his stock and Dongmin bought it cheaply at the stock crash.

 

He also noticed the in upgrade middle race game that when YeongJu finished they could make Dongmin 6th. And in today when Dongmin couldn't even finish making a 10, and had to trade with Hyunmin (sorry did not use spoiler cause it's not big spoiler and didn't affect result much).

 

And Dongmin as I remember made the most bad choice and flawed strategy when worked together with Hyunmin like when he could not foresee betrayal from Ahyoung and Youngjoo in star-game and not reaching out making a big group of 5 as Hyunmin suggested (I ignore the Hyunmin leaked info cause the other team could have come up with that idea too as it's not that difficult to imagine).

 

So again I'm not belitting Dongmin ability and he has nerve of steel indeed and good mentally. But for the much genius praise he receive in Korea bc of this show and bc of the many bad choice and strategy he came up with, I can't help but doubt and wonder if he would go this far alone, without teaming up wih Hyunmin.

 

But then yeah Hyunmin is just Hyunmin lol, he's been so dominating this season even when he doesn't actively do something, but his mind is always influencing the game or results somehow.
