Band CNBLUE is set to release their 6th mini album, “Bluemingâ€.

 

“Blueming†is a compound word made of “CNBLUE†and “blooming,†which signifies the new flowering of CNBLUE’s musical world. To fit the album’s title, the new album is filled with cheerful songs that go well with spring.

 

The title track “You’re So Fine†is Jung Yonghwa’s composition that boasts fancy brass sounds. Filled with sweet lyrics that sing as if talking to a girlfriend such as “You’re so fine / I’m even more amazed at your personality†“Though you always say you’ve gained weight / Don’t worry about that / You’re a bit too greedy baby,†the song makes one’s heart flutter.

Jung Yonghwa composed, wrote lyrics, and also participated in arrangement of the title track ‘You’re so fine’, is an upbeat pop rock that adds fancy brass on top of funky beats and bass. The lyrics resemble a conversation, added with short and sweet narration by Jung completed into a feel-good melody of spring. Praising a woman who’s beautiful the more he sees her, it makes one feel the sweet, cheerful spring presented by CNBLUE.

“The Seasons†is Lee Jonghyun’s composition, with an impressive intro that begins with rhythmical guitar and piano melodies. The beginning and the ending of romance is likened to the four seasons. With acoustic guitar in shuffle rhythm and simple instrumentals, the upbeat song fits the sentiment of the spring.

Composed by Jung Yonghwa, the song centers around the snare sound that leads the entire track. A dreamy atmosphere is expressed through addition of each instrument’s reversed sounds. JH: People still call us "Im A Loner" oppas.

YH: We experienced so much success when we debuted. It's hard for us to be satisfied with results ever since because we started off with so much success. Our goal is to beat out the success of "I'm A Loner" with a self-composed song. We want to reach that level of success one more time.

 

Talking about mean comments-

JH: We promise each other to not read comments on articles but we end up checking them anyways.

YH: When I see a negative comment, sometimes I wonder if they can say it directly to our face. We don't give positive comments a thumbs up. We're afraid that we will be embarrassed if we get caught doing so.

 

Talking about their legacy-

YH: I wish people thought of us as a trendy band. I think a band that can change to meet a trend is the best.

JH: I wish people see us as cool hyungs or cool oppas.

JS: I wish people thought of us when people refer to a Korean band.

MH: We have to keep promoting and be active. I hope people will keep supporting us after 10 years.

YH: I am very cunning when I have a girlfriend. That aspect of me was reflected in the lyrics of the song.

JH: The most cunning person I know is Yonghwa.

YH: I know one who is even more cunning than me. It's Simon D.

 

Talking about competition with FTISLAND-

YH: They're not our rivals. We don't want to compete with them. There are not a lot of bands in this industry when more junior bands come out I will treat them well.

YH: We have been thinking about joining the military together but just because we want to doesn't mean it will happen.

 Interview with CNBLUE: the reason why Jung Yonghwa is so thorough about his private life

 

Q. You released 6th mini album "Blueming" after a 7-month hiatus. How do you feel?

Yonghwa: Even though the album is just released, it feels like it has been a long time since we released the album. I think it's because we've been planning for the album for a long time.

Jungshin: After releasing "Cinderella" last year, we've been busy with our concert tour. As our Asia tour recently finished, it feels like we made a comeback without a break.

 

Q. The album has a total of 5 songs, while all the songs were written by you guys. Don't you feel burdened about releasing an album filled with your own songs?

Yonghwa: Frankly speaking, yeah, it's burdensome. However, we are doubly happy when we achieve a success with our own songs. And we know about ourselves more than anyone. That's why we release an album filled with our own songs.

 

Q. What is the hardest part about writing songs?

Yonghwa: I sometimes suffer from an obsession that I have to write catchy songs. Such obsession makes me write very artificial songs. Ignorance is bliss, sometimes.

 

Q. What did you focus on when you write "You're so fine"?

Yonghwa: Through the music, I tried to express the warm feeling of brass. And I cared much about the lyrics. I think my real personality is reflected in the lyrics. When I date, I usually show my affection for my girl with some lovey-dovey comments.

 

Q. How do you usually write songs?

Jonghyun: I think it's kind of occupational sickness. Whenever I'm very sad or happy, I record the moment.

Yonghwa: Yeah, if somebody tells me that he broke up with his girl friend, I make a memo of it, instead of bringing cheer to him.

 

Q. Jonghyun and Jungshin's own songs are included in the album too.

Jungshin: It's the first time that my own song is included in CNBLUE's Korean album. Yonghwa and Jonghyun have already written many own songs, and I think it's a great thing. I'm so happy now because my song is included in the album too.

Jonghyun: I wrote the song a year ago, but I rewrite the lyrics. The lyrics became easier to understand.

 

Q. It has been 7 years since you debuted. If you look back at your debut, how do you feel?

Yonghwa: We won No.1 trophy just 2 weeks after our debut. We were on a roll. We had nothing to fear, and it's true that we forgot our first time. But like all things, nothing lasts forever. These days, I always appreciate our fans. I know I have to do my best in return for their love.

Jonghyun: Yes, these days, I can appreciate the small things.

 

Q. How do you feel when you see many would-be singers?

Jonghyun: I watched "Produce 101" too. When the trainees cried, it broke my heart. I have so many things to tell them, but it might be hard for them to understand.

 

Q. What do you think is the reason that you could maintain world-famous-star status for a long time?

Yonghwa: I really hate to be damaged by any trouble. That's why I'm always thorough about my private life. I work on my music night and day. I'm sometimes exhausted, but I don't make complaints.

 

Q. It seems like not a few people are still biased against you because you are an "idol rock band."

Jungshin: I think time will solve the matter. Actually, we don't care about such thing any more.

Jonghyun: It has been 3 to 4 years since I stopped caring about it.

Yonghwa: If you don't like our music, just don't listen to it.

 

Q. How do you feel about getting old?

Yonghwa: When we go to music chart shows, there's very few singers who are older than us. It feels very strange.

Jungshin: By the way, I'm the MC of "M Countdown," but the young idols do not even say hello to older singers. I don't understand it. At our times, it was unthinkable.

Jonghyun: I think music chart shows do not have familial atmosphere any more because the competition among singers got severe.

Yonghwa: The BTS(Bangtan Boys) members are good-hearted, though. Even though they became very popular now, but they're still kind. And I'm sure they make efforts day and night because their dance moves are so great.

 

Q. Tell me your activity plan.

Yonghwa: Jungshin and Minhyuk are filming dramas now, while my Chinese movie is set to begin shooting next week. As our new album is just released, we will do our best as individuals and as a team.

CNBLUE members Jung Yong Hwa, Lee Jong Hyun, Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jung Shin sat down for an interview at an undisclosed hotel in Seoul′s Cheongdamdong on April 4 to talk about their sixth mini album Blueming.Jung Yong Hwa said of the song Young Forever, "I wrote that song when I couldn′t fall sleep. Because we took off as soon as we debuted, if I don′t feel it to that extent, I think I haven′t succeeded. Because I think that, I′m suffering from insomnia."

 

When a reporter said, "You′re so successful that it′s surprising to hear that you′re suffering from insomnia," Jung Yong Hwa said, "I′ve had insomnia for a while now. I think a lot and am really ambitious. When my thoughts catch on, I can′t sleep. I′m trying to let things go. But it′s still difficult for me to sleep. I′ve forgotten what it feels like to get a good night′s sleep. I want to be able to sleep properly again soon."

 

CNBLUE′s new mini album Blueming was released on April 4, marking the group′s return to the music scene after seven months. Jung Yong Hwa said, "If we had started out slow and blew up later, it may have been different, but because Loner did so well from the beginning, I don′t think I can help but have those thoughts. I know it won′t be like that every time, but it′s something I can′t help. Because we′ve done well until now, I hope to be able to do better than before again."

 

He concluded by saying, "My dream is still to be a Billboard star. I think if it doesn′t happen but I keep saying it and keep dreaming, it will come true. I will work hard so that dream comes true."

He continued, "I personally really dislike talking about the old days. The company has grown, and I think that it′s right to think and act in a way that fits the system. I′m just thankful that we get to do our music comfortably."

Jung Yonghwa has huge respect for parents after filming special for The Return of Superman

 

It looks like CNBLUE leader Jung Yong Hwa had an eye-opening experience when he took care of Ki Tae Young and Eugene’s daughter Ro Hee for a recent filming of “The Return of Supermanâ€!

 

On April 3, CNBLUE hosted a live show on Naver’s V app to celebrate the release of their new sixth mini album and the music video for their title track “You’re So Fine.â€

 

During the show, Jung Yong Hwa talks about his experiences filming an “uncle special†with band mate Lee Jong Hyun for an upcoming episode of “The Return of Superman.†You can check out some fan-taken photos of the pair with Ro Hee here.

 

“It made me really respect parents,†he says. “It was my first time walking while carrying a baby. It was really tiring.â€

CNBLUE shares feelings on not playing instruments live on music programs

 

In an interview with ‘Star 1’ magazine, CNBLUE, who recently made their comeback with their album ‘BLUEMING’, discusses their feelings on not being able to play their instruments live on music programs. It’s widely known that artists, mostly bands, are asked to ‘hand-sync’, or pretend to play, their instruments when recording for a music show.

The boys of CNBLUE honestly opened up about the regulation, stating, “Since we’re used to actually playing our instruments at concerts, it’s true that we sometimes get bored when we have to pretend play instead with the MR. It almost feels like we’re just thrashing our arms around, but we try to imagine that we’re actually playing the instruments. We have to do what we’ve promised to do on camera, so we feel bad that we can’t just run around freely on the stage, however, as music shows are one way to promote a new track to audiences and encourage them to visit our live concerts, we still do our best!â€

CNBLUE has shared how they keep an eye on comments about them online.

On the morning of April 4, the four members of the group sat down for an interview after the release of their sixth mini album, “Blueming.â€

During the conversation, leader Jung Yong Hwa says, “I keep an eye on comments online. There are a lot of weird comments about us.â€

He goes on to explain that he looks at the comments as ranked by the highest number of votes, instead of the most recent ones. “If you look at the top ranked comments, the top five are all positive so it makes you feel good,†he says. “If you look at the most recent ones, there are a lot of negative comments so it’s upsetting.â€

He adds, “When I see those comments, I want to say to them, ‘Come over here and say that to me in person.’â€

Lee Jong Hyun jokes, “He’s always telling us not to look at comments, but then he looks at them himself and gets angry.â€
