after announcing that tvxq was gonna have a concert in peru less than a month ago, it's now cancelled

reasons given were

technical problems related to the band requirements and its installation at the place to perform, which made impracticable the assembly of the concert "

obviously this problem was so major that it couldn't be solved and they had to just cancell the whole thing even after ticket sales have already begun

now they have to go through refunding everyone;

what's with Kpop and cancelling concerts and shit, like what's going on SM ?

first you announce it suddenly

tickets go on sale suddenly

it gets cancelled suddenly

whaddafuq  :donthinkso:

my guess is that ticket sales were not looking good.

even here in LA with the huge korean population and it being the to-go place for kpop concerts, tvxq isn't selling out the nokia (which is not that big, the same venue as bap's concert recently). this week i saw discounted orchestra tickets were being sold through living social (kinda like groupon), and even then there are still a decent number of seats left i think

bap was at a completely different and much smaller venue. (5k people difference or so)

the ticket sales for peru weren't even bad enough though considering presales were sold out within 24 hours and what not

even with the tickets it kinda feels like there's another shitty reason of why they're not going there

shit happens :/

I believe there should be an Offical Fuck You SM, Fuck You JYP, Fuck You YG, Fuck you Straship thread.

What did Starship do?  I hadn't heard that they'd canceled a concert, is all.

.... TVXQ can't sell out the venue b.a.p did?  Like 2-3k seats? o.O  I guess their US fandom splintered and are not necessarily that into kpop anymore...?  (Or because they can see them at SMTown?  But you'd think dedicated stans would consider the solo concert a better deal... unless they have sufficient crossover with the other SM fandoms to make SMTown the better deal, I guess.)

EDIT: nvm.  It had to be questioned, though!

just looked it up, you're right. bap played club nokia. clearly i didn't go.

but the fact that they aren't selling out even LA might mean that the ticket sales aren't justifying the cost of sending crew and dancers to peru

Different venues.  BAP was at Club Nokia (seating capacity: 2,300).  TVXQ will be at Nokia Theater (seating capacity: 7,100, though the mezzanine won't be used I believe).  Still a big gap in amount of seats though.

But yeah, there are still tickets for sale throughout Nokia Theater for the TVXQ concert. There's been a lot of last minute promos/deals as well, such as the above mentioned Living Social package.

no sorry i was wrong, bap played the smaller venue in the same complex.

but tvxq isn't doing that great here in LA considering their status either and this being the biggest kpop market. i was curious about the sales so i clicked through the tickets and it seems there were plenty left in the back orchestra - it looks like they have a lot of hardcore fans that bought the expensive close tickets, and less dedicated ones buying the cheaper balcony.

Yeah, I saw someone's reply to Why.  It is significantly more than b.a.p, but I'd say the venue size, while still bigger, is in the same ballpark as 2ne1's in NJ was, or something?  So... I guess I'm still surprised.

I was just throwing in another name~

lulz, ok. XD

Maybe it really was a technical difficulty tho? One they might have not felt like was worth all the hassle? Idk, but sometimes it doesn't have to do with ticket sales. It could but people jump to that conclusion to quickly sometimes.

They obviously didnt' sell out the tickets (and now you're bringing unnecessary attention to it T_T)

TVXQ just aren't that popular internationally, people seem to overestimate it for some reason. Be realistic, not all "someone of their status should be able to sell out" when they missed the Hallyu wave from 09-10 and spend almost all their time in Japan

Actually that thing about "problems related to the band requirements and its installation" is real.
Catch me Tour had a LOT of mechanical things and sub stages that make the concert looks pretty cool and The Jockey Club of Perú can't handle them because is an open space with a lack of proper
infrastructure and is not safe for the boys to do some of their performances.

This two specially:

I also think there are probably other issues that make SM and Kandavu cancell the concert, but that they can't install things that TVXQ need to performing correctly is true.

whatever the problem is they should have dealt with it before they announced the concert and sell the tickets.

if thats not the case, they obviously didnt sell enough tickets. duh

Haha, actually... when 2NE1 came to LA, they came to the same venue as TVXQ will be performing in.

Can't say I'm surprised. It's not like it's 2008.

That's probably it. I'm barely hanging on as is.
