Sometimes it looks cute that's why it gets attention. or also the big ears lol. They like minimal imperfections like crooked teeth, a small round nose etc. They associate beauty with being visually pleasing but along with it there should be something to make that beauty a little skewed. Yeah I think they like the usual pretty/cute girls, but if there's a little "unique" detail along with it, it brings some charm to the face. but usually it's not something that ruins the face, in the end they still like pretty/cute and natural looking people, and most of the "beautiful" japanese celebrities have no specific imperfections. Maybe Kpop fans are used to always see the same faces (since most idols get work done to look like it, no offense) with "v line" jaw, straight nose, straight teeth etc. but honestly I prefer natural features when it comes to pretty faces and if there's something unique it's fine too. For example: Her nose is little and round but it still looks good on her face and she's cute/pretty, if she gets her nose done to make it straight, it could ruin her face, make her "plastic" looking, no more "unique" features, etc. etc. she doesn't need it and everyone's fine with imperfections that still look good and bring charm to someone who's pretty already. Oh wait, that's expected if someone asked the same question about korean idols there would be just as much stereotype besides, it's not like all the idols have "weird" or snaggletooth, or like the japanese don't appreciate it outside of the idol-sphere. it's one of the most unusual, and therefore, popular, beauty standards i would say pale/fair skin, dark straight hair, skinny and petite though a slight bosom is nice, a cute face idk if double eyelids mean anything to japanese, as i think they are more likely to have them anyway, but most idols do have them, so i'm sure there may be some ps involved with some of them, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Japanese people don't really have a strict beauty standard, if you're pretty then you're pretty. Nothing too specific like Korea. Soft features, natural looks, innocent/cute, but they also like other types like: Ishihara Satomi Ayase Haruka Nagasawa Masami You just have to be pretty, it's not about the details, and it's not just one type of faces. but for some celebrities, some unique feature can add charm. I liked this jrock group "Girls Dead Monster" but they were only formed because of an anime series and basically ended after a few concerts.
